We really shouldn't blame any of the Chinese officials for keeping Yang off-camera -- they were just trying to avoid a worldwide scandal.
Apparently there's a video going around of Yang doing a concert the previous year, in which she had a "wardrobe malfunction".
Big nationwide scandal, from what I read. Seven network executives issued apologies, just before they were shot.

You must NOT put a "s" after mixed-up. I am Chinese too, and I am just horrifed at how bad the standard of English is among some Chinese people. You must have very incompetent and stupid teachers and you must be very careless not to know that you are writing rubbish. Look at my translation and study it closely and get a good teacher to learn it from the beginning. Try to read good newspapers like the Times of London and good literature like Dickens and Jane Austen.

I suppose your linguistic censures would not have sounded so ridiculous if you were able to write proper English yourself, and that includes all the basic stuff like correct choice of tense and verb-subject agreement.
It's common for chinese people to make mistakes in the very basic features of an indo-european language, like tense/aspect/conjugation/declension, because these are not, or hardly found in Chinese. You are no exception to this. But at least learn some humility, for goodness sake!

Miaoke just came to HK a couple of weeks back and she's a total ham. Even worse they made LMK sing Ode to the Motherland... maybe just to prove she could. I thought it sounded the same.

Yang Pei-yi is very cute, and she has a fabulous voice. It was a mistake for the officials to show Lin Miao-ke lip-sychning the song, but at least they owned up to it right away and didn't try to hide it. It was a minor glitch in the otherwise magnificent Beijing Olympics. At least it wasn't Salt Lake city.
Yang Pei-yi and Lin Miao-ke both have bright futures ahead of them. Lin should not be punished for a mistake she didn't make.

Very fair comment. Australia took eight years to owe up to the fact that while the Sydney Orchestra was on stage during the Sydney Games 2000, the music of the Melbourne Orchestra was used. What happened at Salt Lake City? It is a mistake, as you say, but a trivial one and a snap-of-the-moment error of judgement. At least they are now making up to the kid, and she looks fine enough to me.

If you have read all my contribution to this topic on other identical videos, you will know that I have attacked and condemned the western media strongly. I even wrote to the BBC and called their station to protest against their smearing of China on the back of two innocent children. But it is still wrong for them to sue Pei Yi's voice and not her person. A Politburo member called Xin Jin-Ping was soley responsible for bumping our Angel Pei Yi. He needs to apologize to the kid.

I'm not entirely sure about your "authenticity" comment though...cuz it I think she lip-synched that one- listen carefully, it's the exact same version as that played during the Opening Ceremony.

I think tOweringOrchid meant that Pei Yi is more natural and innocent looking and it was her own voice here. I don't think it is fair on Lin Miaoke because it was not her fault. Miaoke and her family did not even know it was not her voice even after the event. So the word "authentic" should not be used to hurt two innocent children.

It was painfully obvious that the Chinese Communist Party wanted to say sorry to her and they don't admit their errors too often. The western media picked on this incident to smear China. I think the reason why she is replaced during the opening ceremony is because she cannot lip-sycn.
She has real talent, so she never practice lip-syncing, cos she doesn't have to.
But it is difficult to monitor live singing in a large-scale multi-act event like the olympic opening. So they have to find someone who can lip-sync.

There is not ONE word about the Sydney Orchestra just going through the motions at the 2000 Games; the music was provided by the Melbourne Orchestra. The Australians deliberately leaked this fact belately; I think they did this because they could not stand the smearing of China. The Sydney press was also the only western press to defend China. Well, in Britain, not one word about the Aussies. At least, the New York Times carried the Sydney story. British press are scumbags.
