Man you take playing w/ your Evevl toys to a whole new level! My Playing Mantis bike doesn't work too well, and my bike that came w/ the Back to Basics Daredevil set (trail bike) is broken now as well. The gears in the new ones are plastic and strip really easy. The old school ones have metal parts that have to be oiled sometimes, and they work better.

I had this toy as a kid and I have to say that NO TOY TODAY could even come close to the toughness and playability this toy had back in the 70's! IT ROCKED back then, and IT ROCKS STILL TO THIS DAY! LONG LIVE EVEL KNIEVEL!

superb! captures all the thrills and spills of the old stunt cycle.

my brother had one we used to jump him over the pond in the backyard.

the bike lasted years but evel mysteriously dissapeard.

many years later the mystery was solved when dad drained the pond he had been underwater for ten years or more and appeared to be none the worse for his ordeal, still in fine shape apart from his wire being a bit rusty.

I love this film, it looks so real in slo mo. The ramp flexing when he lands adds drama to :)! What happens if you increase the angle at the top of the ramp, so it's nearer to vertical would he sommersault do you think? Maybe try a bit at a time and film it so we could see what happens each time?

Very Good! Wow what is your secret to make him jump so far! I bought a repo trail bike and it barely leaves the launcher - you must be using old school toys.

I use all types of bike, 1970s and the later issues. The one in this video is a 2005 trail bike - I was lucky that it was this powerful, I have another 2005 trail that doesn't jump well at all. Saying that the bike in this video is now broken, the old bikes are better made.

I've had a look inside a couple of the old and new bikes and it all depends on how sloppy the cogs are - sometimes they are too loose on their axles and rub on the rear tire or rub on the flywheel slowing it down alot. I'd love to be able to rebuild one with proper ballrace bearings, etc.

3. But of course the real drama only comes in a dare devil crash landing, too....

4. How bout his son Robby....He has better luck at jumping without crashing....

5. Robby prefers nobby dirtbike tires....for a more cushy landing !!!

6. we'll have to write Mattel and request an Robby Knievel stunt power pack...with auto rev platform...

 real bikes for huge air in a short span you can even see the ramp preload and rebound,verry cool.
