the "trick" was to use REAL, measured temperatures (it is in the actual email, in the sentence quoted, but always left out by these global warming skeptics) instead of dendrological data, because for some reason this data has not correlated with measurements since 1960's. Other data sets do correlate (data from coral reefs, glaciers etc. all in all 12 different sets) with temperature. "Hiding" simply refers to decline in the erroneus data set that is caused by an unknown factor
Two corporate hacks (as corps back the CEI) misrepresent the meaning of those private stolen emails in interviews with people who haven't fully looked into those 1000+ stolen private emails. This is to try to paint a false picture, to put on YouTube, to mislead the public.
Your corporate masters are pleased, HowTheWorldWorks.
For those who don't know, "climategate" amounted to squat. Those who promoted it as a scandal should apologize & retract their allegations.
LOL "The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming" Use of + multipliers to falsify data. Heat island effects of +9C that falsifies data. ALL ice core data samples proving CO2 lags temps and has never antedated temps.IPCC lead authors ADMITTING their reports have NOTHING to do with science.Dr.P.J. of the CRU , 'from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming' failing to meet 95% sig. level.
1) "The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming" = scientist refering to his published paper in which he gripes that our inability to do energy accounting WITHIN the earth climate system (NOT the net imbalance that we can account for that's driving the recent warming). Thus it doesn't mean what you you think it means - hardly surprising, since this stolen private email wasn't meant for you, but for people who understood the context.
2) "Heat island effects of +9C that falsifies data"
Bullshit.
And you're a decade late in your denier bullshit propoganda.
3) "ALL ice core data samples proving CO2 lags temps and has never antedated temps"
Yes, and the scientific community that's claiming that global warming is being driven by human activities already knows that. Anyone who knows anything about this issue knows this doesn't do squat to challenge the consensus - only the ignorant use it.
4) "Dr.P.J. of the CRU , 'from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming' failing to meet 95% sig. level."
It just barely fails to meet significance at that level (so would at, say 90% confidence). Furthermore, CRUHadely is temp record with the least warming - NASA and others show more. Furthermore, significance matters only over the long term, so 15 years is the earliest to even hope to achieve it over natural variablity.
This you're talking about BARLEY missing significance of the coolest of the major datasets over the bare minimum timespan to even have a prayer to achieve significance. Put it all together and, again, it's a stunning fact - for the ignorant.
5) "LOL U got nuthin` !"
Turns out, for those who know about this, it's quite the reverse.
Only a fool thinks they can sit in the chair and outsmart the planet's scientists about something as complicated as the global climate system. LOL indeed.
6) "IPCC lead authors ADMITTING their reports have NOTHING to do with science."
ooops - I missed this sentence first time around.
I don't know what it refers to, but it pretty obviously amounts to yet another heaping pile of nothing. I'm assume you found some "damning" quote made as one intelligent adult was speaking to other intelligent adults - but that could be taken out of context to fed the whacko denier blog-o-sphere paranoia.
@VeryEvilPettingZoo Trenberth ADMITS his faith is stronger than the data, "there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong." There is no consensus, pure Big Lie propaganda NASA Dr.Imhoff, heat island effect avg. + 7 to 9 C warmer 95% confidence level?, mehh, so what we have our faith Hansen refuses to release the algorithm he used to process data 6 IPCC lead authors still admit their faith has nothing to do with science7 AGW is only .12% of all GH gas U STILL GOT NUTHIN
"Hi all. Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming...
Trenberth, K. E., 2009: An imperative for climate change planning: tracking Earth's global energy. Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability, 1, 19-27, doi:10.1016/j.cosust.2009.06.001. ...
The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a
"... The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008
shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing
system is inadequate."
Now from Trenberth's own paper he referred to:
"Given that there is continual heating of the planet, referred to as radiative forcing, by accelerating increases of carbon dioxide (Fig. 1) and other greenhouses due to human activities, why isn’t the temperature continuing to go up?...
"... The stock answer is that natural variability plays a key role1 and there was a major La Niña event early in 2008 that led to the month of January having the lowest anomaly in global temperature since 2000. While this is true, it is an incomplete explanation. In particular, what are the physical processes? From an energy standpoint, there should be an explanation that accounts for where the radiative forcing has gone. ...
"... Was it compensated for temporarily by changes in clouds or aerosols, or other changes in atmospheric circulation that allowed more radiation to escape to space? Was it because a lot of heat went into melting Arctic sea ice or parts of Greenland and Antarctica, and other glaciers? Was it because the heat was buried in the ocean and sequestered, perhaps well below the surface?...
"... Was it because the La Niña led to a change in tropical ocean currents and rearranged the configuration of ocean heat? Perhaps all of these things are going on? But surely we have an adequate system to track whether this is the case or not, don’t we?
Well, it seems that the answer is no, we do not. But we should! Given that global warming is unequivocally happening and there has so far been a failure to outline, let alone implement, global plans to mitigate the warming, ...
then adapting to the climate change is an imperative. We will of course adapt to climate change. The question is the extent to which the adaptation is planned and orderly with minimal disruption and loss of life, or whether it is unplanned? To plan for and cope with effects of climate change requires information on what is happening and why, whether observed changes are likely to continue or are a transient, how they affect regional climates and the possible impacts."
He then has a section about the energy budget discussing "... the flows of energy through the climate system." Etc. It's all right there.
Now I described this as "scientist refering to his published paper in which he gripes that our inability to do energy accounting WITHIN the earth climate system (NOT the net imbalance that we can account for that's driving the recent warming)."
I was correct. You were not. I stand with the scientists. You stand with the whacko deniers.
Re: "...as the evidence of govt funded propagandist "scientists" is now overwhelming"
And the evidence that 9-11 was an inside job is now overwhelming too. And alien lizard people run the New World Order.
Crazy people are always eager to tell everyone about the overwhelming evidence proving their conspiracy theories. And when examined (as if that were even required to dismiss the nuts) - as I did with your posts - the end result is that they're just crazy people ignorantly spouting off
. So far you failed to refute a single thing I`ve said, merely engage in misquotations, ignorant of IPCC lead authors` admitting the fraudulent data is for political purposes, failed confidence levels, failed data EVEN AFTER THE USE OF + MULTIPLIERS,the insignificance of anthropogenic CO2 ( 0.12%) , the inclusion of +9C heat island data, the refusal to release methodology, ad infinitum.
@VeryEvilPettingZoo You`re done because you are a naive fool. Specifically, either an ignorant tree hugging pagan gaia kook or a knowing Totalitarian such as IPCC lead authors and Van Jones, who MOW ADMIT the AGW theory is simply a trojan horse for EVERYONE know that if CO2 DROVE temps then + feedback would have be catastrophic to all life on Earth. But of course we know your AGW theory of that very idea is a laughably Big Lie..
@VeryEvilPettingZoo You were wrong right from your number 1. Ttry reading the relevant email exchanges before you spout the de rigeur Big Lie.
.
.
You`re nothing bu a denier in reality as the evidence of govt funded propagandist "scientists" is now overwhelming.
.
. But wait, there`s more ! CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS AND SUBPOENAS ARE GONNA START FLYING SOON. Think Hansen will end up in jail or will he chicken out and release his methodologies.
Wow. I see the same kind of common ignorant mentality of the crazies that supported Iraq war, Afghanistan War, Patriot Act, Illegal wire tapping, torture, and others with these dogmatic false environmentalists. Left and right paradigm is so easily observed here. Watch Endgame, Invisible Empire, Kymatica on youtube.
The first and second guy didn't read the emails? "I don't care what they do, as long as they (the scientists) come out with the right conclusions." "...He was concerned that there wasn't enough observable data...." So, there was not enough data to clarify for the warming trends, but they still publish the IPCC that there IS a warming trend?
I'm with jcantlie, until I see a definitive model PROVING WITHOUT A DOUBT that we are causing "global warming" or has the name been changed to global climate change now? Anyway, until I see that this
at 5.00: "I honestley don't care what they do as long as they come out with the right conclusions, and the right conclusions are the science that drives policy."
thats a pretty damning statement to make, hes basicly saying he dosnt give a shit how they get their data or if they are lying aslong as they agree with his perceptions. DAMN
There is no redress for grievances anymore. Government employees routinely break the law. Pigs (cops, maggots, slugs, cavils, callouses, mole crickets, albatrosses, Nigerians) baton & tase citizens: children, the senile, the unconscious, the recently-physicked.
In my sub-tropical Florida locale sub-tropical plants are suffering from the effects of many winters (since the mid-1980's) of record-setting hard freezes.
'the science is settled', 'everybody agrees' are simple fallacies by popular belief.
'it's obviously a complex system - you can't just pick out one piece and call it evidence' is more interesting, however. The AGW crowd itself has failed to produce a predictive model to fit their hypothesis, due to this very complexity...yet they expect us to believe that theirs is a solid science. It's not a theory until a model is produced - until then - why are we throwing money at this idea?
"global warming optimist"??? there he said it...he thinks this will feed the economy (who's economy of course). Global warming is real for the greater good of who??
By the way skeptics, the UK House of Commons' Science and Technology Committee released an investigative report on the 31st March on the climategate scandal, and has cleared any wrongdoing by the scientists involved with UN IPCC and affiliated scientists from the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit. The scandal has been debunked essentially, as a complete waste of time, distracting people's attention from the main issue, and recruiting more cherry picking skeptics on the way.
Good interviewing chaps... Global warming is such a fraud they had to start calling it climate change. Solar activity folks... here in England remains of vineyards and summer houses that the Romans built proves the weather was obviously alot warmer back then than now.
Phil Jones, the head of the British Climatic Research Unit at the heart of ClimateGate, told the BBC: the recent warming trend that began in 1975 is not at all different than two other planetary warming phases since 1850; there has been no statistically significant warming since 1995, and; it is possible the Medieval Warm Period was indeed a global phenomenon thereby making the temperatures seen in the latter part of the 20th century by no means unprecedented.
Come on guys, would AlGore try to deceive us? Would he try to set up phony carbon trading companies to personally benifit? Would he live in a large home and use 15 - 20 % times more energy than the average citizen uses? Would he jet set around in private planes, instead of taking commercial airlines? Would he ride in automobiles instead of taking public transportation?
Not if he truely believed in Global Warming/Cooling/Climate Change or whatever it is now.
They forgot to mention how they ask emails to be deleted and how the freedom of information act in the UK is on their asses and how they discuss how to hide thir methods from the public. I downloaded the emails....if cherry picking is what these guys are calling it I can find a massive basket of cherries!
Human-caused global warming easily overwhelms much-hyped "cold snap"
February 5, 2010
"The global-average lower tropospheric temperature anomaly soared to +0.72 deg. C in January, 2010. This is the warmest January in the 32-year satellite-based data record."
To see the graph of the "UAH Globally Averaged Satellite-Based Temperature of the Lower Atmosphere, 1979-2010"
All these dumbfucks are SO convinced global warming exists ...they dont even realize that they just keep PARROTING the same exact shit they hear over and over and over in the news and media.... Polar bears are dying. check. ice is melting. check. uhh theres a consensus in the scientific community. check! Do these fucks have any original thoughts of their own!?!?
You can tell the first guy them interviewed was totally brainwashed. The earth could be covered in 1000ft of ice right now and he would still defend the notion that man made global warming exists
Having a PhD doesn't strip one of the propensity to be biased. It is possibly that a large minority of leftist scientists are completely biased, just to propagate their political views. Scientists don't CREATE facts but just DERIVE them. They are subjected to the evidence.
According to the Global Carbon Project and David Archer, a climatologist from the University of Chicago, the evidence is in favor of global warming.
The general trend is warming -- with relative drops (cooling).
"Proof" is found only in mathematics. Nothing is proved unless you have Axioms, conjectures and proofs, all of which inescapably follow from each other.
Science, however, deals only with the phrase "what is more likely and less likely."
You are the nutjob who is trolling on the net. Having lost your job, which requires no more than mundane knowledge, in the recession and having been brainwashed by the Fox Noise Channel, you have chosen to spew your idiocy on the cyberspace.
uhm did you even listen to what they were saying? I mean, one misinterpretation, even if the scientists at east anglia were being fraudulent (which they werent), would not stand to discredit all science on climate change. get a clue, and stop listening to the major stakeholders like CEI. Check out the actual data. If you do not, then you are the ignorant one. There are more studies out there than there are those stolen emails. global warming is real.
y'know a ... mathematic uhhh your side! you wrong, i don't care what they do... ummm whatever i don't honestly care what they do about it as long they come with the uhhhh right conclusionisj.... I WANT ATTENTION FOR YOUR TV-SHOW! YOU'RE WRONG WE RIGHT, I DON'T CARE!
These climategate scientists are corrupt and they lied, and some of them should lose their jobs, but this says NOTHING about the credibility of the global climate change argument. Because some individuals are corrupt, you propose that we discount the entire climate change scientific, social and political movement?
Beyond ridiculous.
This is just another simple example of how conservatives control discourse and society. THEIR corruption is always an anomaly, but that of liberals is "systematic."
Glaciers and polar ice caps melting?? Only in the summer.
Plotting graphs from the end of the last ice age (1850) to now will always show a warming, which is typically bogus. 1000 years ago the Mediaeval Warm Period was several degrees warmer than now, which the IPCC suppessed and in an email was stated "We have to get rid of the Mediaeval Warm Period", which is where the hockey stick came in, and has now been proven fraud and the IPCC eventually removed.
They always say: "global warming is real" or "climate change is occuring" - well, yes, perhaps, but - do *we humans* have any effect on this? Changes in climate have been occuring for millions of years, and when the last ice age ended, I don't recall having CO2 emissions.
@johnnyone9 Yes climate change has been occurring for actually billions of years ever since the Earth first came to be. However there weren't humans alive emitting greenhouse carbon that has been out of the carbon cycle for eons to produce electricity. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. More of it in the atmosphere traps more heat. To deny this is to deny quantum physics. Historically changes in climate have been driven by solar output. The carbon we are emitting traps more heat re-emitted by the surface.
@johnnyone9 and they forget to mention the "golden " era that preceded that little ice age 1500 - well into the late 1700's when the average temps were 7 degrees warmer than today. so what caused that the no existent manufacturing sector. BS science is just the BS
They draw clear parallels with the typical religious moderate. They even use the classic "it's out of context" argument. They blatantly ignore evidence to the contrary. They believe that an invisible entity in the sky is going to punish us and the rest of the world if we don't make personal sacrifices to it and pay money to a "middle man" (Church then, State / Govt.), and that this "mediator" has "special powers" to "contact" the "entity" and "take care of it." Religious people give money,
and now liberals will force us by using the govt. to point guns at us and force us to 'pay money' in the form of taxes to "appease the invisible thing in the sky." So the govt. has a special relationship with this thing, like the Pope does with God, and it will make everything all better before the manbearpig runs us down. Be afraid! Give money and make personal sacrifice for something that was cooked up by some corrupt fucktards!!!!!!!
"The science is settled" is a disgraceful comment to be made by a scientist,, absolutely discraceful to science itself. Science is the ONGOING study or life, it is never ever settled. To say such a thing sounds so defensive. That statement is what all the pro global warming scientists and Al Gore say continually. It is unscientific to say such a thing.
The Data that created that stupid hockey stick completely eliminated the Little Ice Age from the middle ages, which lasted for 400 years. The ENTIRE argument is based upon a bunch of collectivist nonsense.
We've spent something like $23 BILLION on this BULLSHIT, and you environmental idiots are demanding more...I have a thought, pay for it yourselves for once.
No, the founder of the weather channel has no ties to big oil. Big oil however is firmly behind the carbon tax, (on all of us) b/c big oil has already been written into the deal for unlimited carbon credits.
We as inhabitants of this planet must DEMAND an investigation into ALL of Climate Change research. They're asking us to completely change our lives and the way we do business, and they're doing it with the help of shabby evidence.
These guys are worried there going to lose there funding. The truth is these guys are paid on the global warming scam. The USA has spent 70 billion dollars on Global Warming in the last 10 years. The truth is these are worried they are going to lose there job.
Boy, these guys sure do have their "story" from Gore, ready to repeat on cue.
He even remembered to repeat the lie that the emails are "ten years old". Wow Gore's lies sticking. These zombies won't even read the emails for themselves.
And where is this "cherry picked" idea coming from? Thousands of emails with COMPLETE threads.
"Right and wrong"? Who cares? Shouldn't people just want the truth?
Yeah sure every one who doesn't agree with you is an idiot huh? I guess Richard LIndzen at MIT who has spent his whole life researching the dynamics of the middle atmosphere, atmospheric tides and ozone photochemistry and has written over 200 books, yeah he's just a big ol' retard. Along with the vast quantities of other climatologists and various other PHD's who have spent years researching this are all just stupid. Case closed.
1970s it was global cooling. lol We're all fucked if this copenhagen bill passes. The only argument most seem to have is that the consensus is reached, NO IT IS NOT REACHED!!!!!!!! Why are 30,000 scientists including the founder of the weather channel suing Al Gore for refusing to debate?
the guy at :22 totally spoting the young dumb libeal look. what an asshole, in fact they all look like moden day hippies, excepy for lee and myron of course.
What catalyst changed global warming THEORY into "settled science"? And use factual information based upon the scientific method, liberals...if you CAN!
The last guy interviewed said that conservatives are looking for every chance, every conspiracy theory to disprove global warming. But here is the thing: those scientists in the emails were doing the exact same thing that he accused the conservatives of doing, except for a different cause: they are looking to interpret and manipulate statistics as being a result of global warming.
Basically these people don't know what the hell they're talking about, but in turn are trying to convince not only themselves but everyone else around them that this "theory" is true. Stop pushing it on others until you know for sure. Please?
Sadly, one of mankind's biggest weaknesses is pride.
I saw Gore's movie. I cried b/c I thought he was sincere & that what he was saying was true. Then I found out he lied. Even though I had previously spouted of to a few people that the world was getting hotter, my pride didn't keep me from looking out the window and trusting my own eyes. Then I found out about solar flair cycles, the banking cartels, etc.
It's getting colder folks. Admit it & and get angry at the people who lie 2 U.
The point is that taxing income is an enumerated power for the federal government. If you have issue what its used for, thats fine (but you'll be wrong b/c of the "necessary and proper" clause).
Of course some Southern states weren't considered part of the US, they seceded from the Union. The North won and to the winner, the spoils of war. The 14th Amendment was ratified by 2/3 of the States in the US at the time and that is what matters. The other states should have fell in line...they lost.
I'm glad to see that you admit to the idea that might is right. At least you are honest. I'm heartened to know that military might and death bring righteousness to the ever spinning carousel of "new" causes.
And "Honest Abe" didn't believe that the Southern states seceded. He believed that was impossible (though incoherently). It was the pietist Yankee Republicans who put this idea into practice...
You need a history lesson. The South seceded. They had their own President: Jefferson Davis. It wasn't the "Yankee Republicans" but rather South Carolina that first put this idea into practice.
I never said might equals right. I said to the victor the spoils of war. Meaning the North defeated the South, and they could force the 14th Amendment on the South if they wanted to be part of the union. Completely different than M=R.
You getting your history from Howard Zinn? Its all America's fault?
Uh. Lincoln didn't believe states *could* secede from the "union," therefore, in his eyes they were not a different country. It was impossible. The South, and the post-Lincoln Republicans differed, and for differing reasons.
I mean, come on, those kindly Yankee pietests sure didn't mind child labor in Northern factories, so-called "vagrancy" laws applied to poor blacks and the denial of a "negro's" right to vote in some cases 'til well after the War...
The word "believe" in describing Lincoln's view of secession is a misnomer. Lincoln was under the impression that the Constitution made it for states to secede. Despite what he thought, the South seceded. In Lincoln's eyes, he was trying to keep the Union together, but in reality it had already split (hence the Confederacy or the Confederate States of America).
How the hell did we get to Lincoln from the 16th Amendment's power to tax?
Yeah, I always thought the civil war about money. At the time, South was rich. Not just from slavery. They had long growing seasons, a major river for transport, a major port for goods, they had it all. Coveting leads to many things. "Freeing the slaves" for what? Either way, freeing them was the only right thing to do, but maybe there were additional motives for that war?
hey fuklibs, you said,"Climate change is natural & cyclical...how did the ice age end without man on earth? "
The Ices ages are governed by what are known as the Milankovitch factors, go google them, and the Mil;ankovitch factors will not be significant for another 50,000 years, that leaves human emissions of CO2 as the only other likely suspect of the CURRENT warming
Hi LOP, thanks for responding to my questions below regarding the "subtle lie".
You said ~we're the hottest we've been in the last 150 years and shouldn't just cherry pick the U.S. temps from the '30s. My understanding is that we're talking 1/10ths DegC here. Wow, I didn't know thermometers back in 1859 were so accurate!
Re: full data sets- I'm assuming you'd apply that standard to the Siberian temp data the CRU was filtering, too (as the Russians pointed out yesterday).
okay wait these people are not even readying these emails? these are people who are right in the middle of what is going on with global warming and they don't even bother to read them? geez!
Right, and I'm supposed to assume that you've read all 2,000 pages of the rather insipid hacked data? Most of it being e-mails and correspondence? Get lost. Jesus people are dumb.
If my job was researching climate change data and peer reviewing other's work, you're damn right I'd read all 2,000 pages of the hacked data.
Just like every member of Congress should have had to read the 2,000+ page health care bill AND should have put it online so concerned citizens could understand what the government is doing with their tax dollars.
And chances are this was a whistleblower, and not some environ-hacker.
Wow, you are definitely showing your superior intellect by responding to my comment in such a manner. I am so sorry you are such a Jesus hater. Perhaps, before commenting to others posts you should get some therapy for your anger issues. May God be with you!
Uh... what? I mean "Jesus people are dumb" as in... "Jesus! People are dumb..." you know, like an expression. Not "Jesus people" as in Christians (although most of them are quite insipid as well - so I guess I killed two birds with one stone.) Don't rush to too many assumptions lest you make a fool of yourself :)
'Jesus people are dumb. ' you should have used the proper punctuation in your statement when stating that people are ignorant and I still say you have angerment issues that you need to deal with before commenting towards others. However, I will give that to you that you are right I rushed into an assumption that, that is what you meant. Please allow me to leave with my dignity and leave it at that. God Bless!
Also, it's impossible to hate that which doesn't exist. So a "Jesus hater" would be like a "Plongo hater." Exactly, an incoherent, meaningless statement. Thanks anyways though.
The discussion has only involved about a half-dozen individual emails out of that huge amount, and taken out of context at that. That's pretty much the definition of cherry picked.
Look there's just too many variables in the methods of data measurement, in the logrithmic equations used to build their models, in the lack of adequate random selection of data from the measurement instruments used.
These are the reasons the emails, not just 10 or 12, are so damning. They show that the data collection, and measurement, and how the CRU addressed these issues call into question 100% of their global warming arguments.
The fact is, sunspot activity may be more responsible for global temperatures than all other factors. And that this data for a few thousand years is available. And Yet, I don't see a damn thing from these jokers about the sun.
Um, a lot of people are saying "They tried to 'hide the decline,' " or "They didn't want opposing papers published," when those emails didn't really say that, since they were taken out of context. That's cherry picking.
If you have a problem with the science and process explained(which don't affect the above points), the emails reveal nothing new. It's not like the methods of thousands of scientists coming to the same conclusions haven't been there for everyone to see for the last few decades..
It might have to do with the fact that the Medieval warming period was regional and not global, but I don't see what that has to do with the emails I mentioned.
Exactly! THEY are the ones who "cherry picked" and f-ed w/ data in order to "hide the decline" in temps.
These Gore worshipers are freaky. They repeat his retarded lies on cue. They even repeat the lie about the "trick" being something "scientific". I read a great many scientific papers and have NEVER seen the words "trick" to "hide" DATA.
Truthful reporting of DATA requires no "tricks" or "hiding". But then, we are talking about a blind faith worship, & also pride, can't say they were wrong
I read the entire threads & you can too if you dare to eat from the "forbidden fruit of knowledge".
There is no question what the context is when you're reading the entire thread. Couple this with the programmer's side notes on the source code, such as, "Oh yeah, we're just making these numbers up. I'll factor in whatever I want"
After years of FOI requests, IPCC & Goddard wouldn't release the data. Then they said it was "lost". It wasn't lost, but I'll bet they wish it had been.
Sorry, but you guys were extremely dishonest in this. A) the cooling trend hasn't been for a whole decade, it began in about 2003. B) cooling trends are to be expected, there will always be temporary cooling trends that last a few years particularly when there is a La Niña involved. But when you look at the broader trend, going back more than just 6 years, you see a very clear and marked warming trend. You are cherry picking from the data, just as the hackers cherry-picked the emails.
It's the temperature, dude. For the last decade. That's not "cherry-picking," that's science. The global warming alarmists are simply activists who have switched a red flag for a green one.
ok guys, confronting is not going to help, the old dude was very confrontational. Just let them say their thing by asking the right questions, your questions imply a certain answer and causes them to go on the defense...
This is only the beginning. Now that we know that they were trying to manipulate their "peer reviewed" studies, more and more people will be digging into this for the truth. They can try to discredit these emails all they want. What common sense has always told anyone with a brain is that "man-made global warming" is simply a hoax.
You actually think that people haven't been looking for this slipup for years now? You think corporations and political parties haven't been digging before this?
If it's one thing liberals know how to do, it's manipulate the truth and outright lie. I didn't say that people haven't been looking before now. It's just that things like this coming out inspire people. This type of thing tends to snowball.
When talking about science there is no such thing as CONSENSUS. Science is an ongoing journey. Remember when scientist though the world was flat? How did that consensus work out?
Sure, but what is "fucking up" the environment? And if you have clearly defined what is "fucking up the envionrment," can you name of the any other things that may be "fucking up" the environment on your terms?
Okay, so overpopulation and use of finite resources to you means "fucking up the environment." Bad news then, moron. Nomads did that, it was the very reason they had to walk from area to area, American Indians did it, animals do it, as things in ecological systems are always changing naturally. The "meat industry" has just been demonized to a ridiculous point as well, but since you seem to buy into several levels of this stuff it's probably pointless to argue with you. But your definitions suck.
Your examples of nomads and american indians are invalid as the world was not overpopulated then.
The meat industry has been rightly 'demonized' because it plays a fundamental role in the unnecessary overuse and abuse of limited resources. For example, the amount of grain that goes into producing one eight-ounce steak could feed 45 to 50 people.
Also I'm pretty sure crops don't count as limited resources or at least as nonrenewable ones since they can be grown. And American Indians and others not only did brush burning and killed so many of the local animal populations and ate so many fruits and berries without replanting them that they had to move around all the time, you've also never been taught this, or knowing this offends your mindset of everything modern is wrong. You say the world wasn't overpopulated then. Says who? What areas?
Right, you're just expressing a certain attitude, not a fact or a cited thought or belief or anything. Just regular ol' run-o-the-mill modern self-hating liberaltics.
Exactly, these unelected elites are the same ones responsible for dumping toxic chemicals into our drinking water and we're supposed to just "trust" them to control all life emissions on the planet?
True, but handing over complete control over all of the planet to an unelected few elites, (who are in fact the biggest polluters in the world, but have already written themselves UNLIMITED carbon credits) is not the answer. Further, the reason they chose c02 as the big "evil" thing they must arbitrarily control, is that life is not possible on this planet without it, not b/c it's actually harmful. All the private jets in Copenhagen tell me they don't personally believe what they're selling us.
Subtle lie at 8:40,"Jim Hansen had to take it back for the US record... it was 1930's"
Correction, though the 1930's were the hottest for the US, the hottest decade globally is the 2000's. By cherry picking a smaller data set, the US surface which is less than 2% of the Earth's surface area, this guy is implying that is was hotter globally in the 30's. You need to quote your data in context, just because one local area had anomalous temperature patterns, that is not relevant to the global mean.
Is Jim Hansen the guy that did The Muppets? Why would we listen to him about global warming?
Subtle lie immediately above: they indicated it was for the U.S. record.
Are you actually saying an increase in one value of a summation won't affect the mean? Or do you mean to imply that some areas were colder? Data (in context), please. Chirp . . . chirp . . . chirp
hey troglodite, they spun the quote to make it sound as if the US mean was equivalent to the global mean, so it was a "subtle" lie. Notice that I didn't call it a blatant lie.
As far as what this means in context- sure, some particular locations of the world may have been warmer in the past, the whole point of a mean value though, is to look at the trend for the WHOLE data set, not a few anomolous data entries, and the global mean is higher now than it has been for the last century and a half
Or, maybe he wanted to give them a chance to speak. Antagonistic name calling presented as journalism is more along the lines of the leftists, isn't it?
Yeah, the safety of his computer. Those guys looked pretty scary. Or at least pretty.
Are there any Myron Ebell shirts on sell somewhere?

the "trick" was to use REAL, measured temperatures (it is in the actual email, in the sentence quoted, but always left out by these global warming skeptics) instead of dendrological data, because for some reason this data has not correlated with measurements since 1960's. Other data sets do correlate (data from coral reefs, glaciers etc. all in all 12 different sets) with temperature. "Hiding" simply refers to decline in the erroneus data set that is caused by an unknown factor

Bullshit.

Are greenhouse gasses a blanket or filter? CRU models say it is a blanket. Satellite data (Dr. Lindzens recent paper) says it is a filter.
A blanket is a convection limiting device (so is a greenhouse) and air is not limited in movement.
A filter filters out spectrum. More filters do not make anymore difference. Hence more co2 does nothing.
What is the height to extinction? 10 meters.
Convection layer is 500 ft...so it does not matter how much co2 is present if HTE is below 500 ft.

Plotting graphs from the end of the last ice age (1850) to now will always show a warming, which is typically bogus. 1000 years ago the Mediaeval Warm Period was several degrees warmer than now, which the IPCC suppessed and in an email was stated "We have to get rid of the Mediaeval Warm Period", which is where the hockey stick came in, and has now been proven fraud and the IPCC eventually removed.

johnnyone9 2 years ago 2
@johnnyone9 Yes climate change has been occurring for actually billions of years ever since the Earth first came to be. However there weren't humans alive emitting greenhouse carbon that has been out of the carbon cycle for eons to produce electricity. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. More of it in the atmosphere traps more heat. To deny this is to deny quantum physics. Historically changes in climate have been driven by solar output. The carbon we are emitting traps more heat re-emitted by the surface.

LibsAreTheDevil 2 years ago 2
Sadly, one of mankind's biggest weaknesses is pride.
I saw Gore's movie. I cried b/c I thought he was sincere & that what he was saying was true. Then I found out he lied. Even though I had previously spouted of to a few people that the world was getting hotter, my pride didn't keep me from looking out the window and trusting my own eyes. Then I found out about solar flair cycles, the banking cartels, etc.
It's getting colder folks. Admit it & and get angry at the people who lie 2 U.

@ 4:11 *Puts hands on heart* "Global warming is real..." Reminds me of my old youth pastor, just a different topic.
tivla 2 years ago
The point is that taxing income is an enumerated power for the federal government. If you have issue what its used for, thats fine (but you'll be wrong b/c of the "necessary and proper" clause).
Of course some Southern states weren't considered part of the US, they seceded from the Union. The North won and to the winner, the spoils of war. The 14th Amendment was ratified by 2/3 of the States in the US at the time and that is what matters. The other states should have fell in line...they lost.
CDubSD 2 years ago
I'm glad to see that you admit to the idea that might is right. At least you are honest. I'm heartened to know that military might and death bring righteousness to the ever spinning carousel of "new" causes.
And "Honest Abe" didn't believe that the Southern states seceded. He believed that was impossible (though incoherently). It was the pietist Yankee Republicans who put this idea into practice...
hartforest 2 years ago
You need a history lesson. The South seceded. They had their own President: Jefferson Davis. It wasn't the "Yankee Republicans" but rather South Carolina that first put this idea into practice.
I never said might equals right. I said to the victor the spoils of war. Meaning the North defeated the South, and they could force the 14th Amendment on the South if they wanted to be part of the union. Completely different than M=R.
You getting your history from Howard Zinn? Its all America's fault?
CDubSD 2 years ago
Has nothing to do with Zinn. (yech)
hartforest 2 years ago
@hartforest
CDubSD 2 years ago
Yeah, I always thought the civil war about money. At the time, South was rich. Not just from slavery. They had long growing seasons, a major river for transport, a major port for goods, they had it all. Coveting leads to many things. "Freeing the slaves" for what? Either way, freeing them was the only right thing to do, but maybe there were additional motives for that war?

hey fuklibs, you said,"Climate change is natural & cyclical...how did the ice age end without man on earth? "
The Ices ages are governed by what are known as the Milankovitch factors, go google them, and the Mil;ankovitch factors will not be significant for another 50,000 years, that leaves human emissions of CO2 as the only other likely suspect of the CURRENT warming
loveofphysics 2 years ago
Hi LOP, thanks for responding to my questions below regarding the "subtle lie".
You said ~we're the hottest we've been in the last 150 years and shouldn't just cherry pick the U.S. temps from the '30s. My understanding is that we're talking 1/10ths DegC here. Wow, I didn't know thermometers back in 1859 were so accurate!
Re: full data sets- I'm assuming you'd apply that standard to the Siberian temp data the CRU was filtering, too (as the Russians pointed out yesterday).
Troglodite13 2 years ago
@loveofphysics
Alright then. Why is jupiter & mars experienceing the same rate of climate change that we are??
Some other bullshit, made up, gov't excuse for that too?
Are you denying that climate change is cyclical & natural?
Isn't it ammusing that its snowing for the first time in Copenhagen as they're having thier NWO Meetings?
Last I checked, its fact that we are experienceing global cooling right now, hence the change from "global warming" to "Climate change".....LOL!
fuklibs 2 years ago 3
okay wait these people are not even readying these emails? these are people who are right in the middle of what is going on with global warming and they don't even bother to read them? geez!
2ravenf0x2 2 years ago 2
Right, and I'm supposed to assume that you've read all 2,000 pages of the rather insipid hacked data? Most of it being e-mails and correspondence? Get lost. Jesus people are dumb.
xx13moons 2 years ago
If my job was researching climate change data and peer reviewing other's work, you're damn right I'd read all 2,000 pages of the hacked data.
Just like every member of Congress should have had to read the 2,000+ page health care bill AND should have put it online so concerned citizens could understand what the government is doing with their tax dollars.
And chances are this was a whistleblower, and not some environ-hacker.
CDubSD 2 years ago
Wow, you are definitely showing your superior intellect by responding to my comment in such a manner. I am so sorry you are such a Jesus hater. Perhaps, before commenting to others posts you should get some therapy for your anger issues. May God be with you!
2ravenf0x2 2 years ago
Uh... what? I mean "Jesus people are dumb" as in... "Jesus! People are dumb..." you know, like an expression. Not "Jesus people" as in Christians (although most of them are quite insipid as well - so I guess I killed two birds with one stone.) Don't rush to too many assumptions lest you make a fool of yourself :)
xx13moons 2 years ago
'Jesus people are dumb. ' you should have used the proper punctuation in your statement when stating that people are ignorant and I still say you have angerment issues that you need to deal with before commenting towards others. However, I will give that to you that you are right I rushed into an assumption that, that is what you meant. Please allow me to leave with my dignity and leave it at that. God Bless!
2ravenf0x2 2 years ago
lol ok. I have anger issues. Neat.
xx13moons 2 years ago
Also, it's impossible to hate that which doesn't exist. So a "Jesus hater" would be like a "Plongo hater." Exactly, an incoherent, meaningless statement. Thanks anyways though.

RIGHT! These emails were all "Cherry Picked." All 120 mb of them, were individually selected and then sent to the opposition.
These people are simply dangerous fools and will never accept logical argument.
captaindiesalot 2 years ago
Wait, what?
The discussion has only involved about a half-dozen individual emails out of that huge amount, and taken out of context at that. That's pretty much the definition of cherry picked.
Bleuski 2 years ago
@Bleuski
Wait, what? Back at you.
Look there's just too many variables in the methods of data measurement, in the logrithmic equations used to build their models, in the lack of adequate random selection of data from the measurement instruments used.
These are the reasons the emails, not just 10 or 12, are so damning. They show that the data collection, and measurement, and how the CRU addressed these issues call into question 100% of their global warming arguments.
captaindiesalot 2 years ago
@Bleuski
The fact is, sunspot activity may be more responsible for global temperatures than all other factors. And that this data for a few thousand years is available. And Yet, I don't see a damn thing from these jokers about the sun.
captaindiesalot 2 years ago
Um, a lot of people are saying "They tried to 'hide the decline,' " or "They didn't want opposing papers published," when those emails didn't really say that, since they were taken out of context. That's cherry picking.
If you have a problem with the science and process explained(which don't affect the above points), the emails reveal nothing new. It's not like the methods of thousands of scientists coming to the same conclusions haven't been there for everyone to see for the last few decades..
Bleuski 2 years ago
@Bleuski cherry picking???? What about Medieval warm period? Hockey stick didn't have it. Why?
777strangelove 2 years ago
nobel price for drowning polar?!! great!
777strangelove 2 years ago
@777strangelove
It might have to do with the fact that the Medieval warming period was regional and not global, but I don't see what that has to do with the emails I mentioned.
Bleuski 2 years ago
But then, we are talking about a blind faith worship, & also pride, can't say they were wrong
joygarner 2 years ago
I read the entire threads & you can too if you dare to eat from the "forbidden fruit of knowledge".
There is no question what the context is when you're reading the entire thread. Couple this with the programmer's side notes on the source code, such as, "Oh yeah, we're just making these numbers up. I'll factor in whatever I want"
After years of FOI requests, IPCC & Goddard wouldn't release the data. Then they said it was "lost". It wasn't lost, but I'll bet they wish it had been.
joygarner 2 years ago
Sorry, but you guys were extremely dishonest in this. A) the cooling trend hasn't been for a whole decade, it began in about 2003. B) cooling trends are to be expected, there will always be temporary cooling trends that last a few years particularly when there is a La Niña involved. But when you look at the broader trend, going back more than just 6 years, you see a very clear and marked warming trend. You are cherry picking from the data, just as the hackers cherry-picked the emails.

This is only the beginning. Now that we know that they were trying to manipulate their "peer reviewed" studies, more and more people will be digging into this for the truth. They can try to discredit these emails all they want. What common sense has always told anyone with a brain is that "man-made global warming" is simply a hoax.

If it's one thing liberals know how to do, it's manipulate the truth and outright lie. I didn't say that people haven't been looking before now. It's just that things like this coming out inspire people. This type of thing tends to snowball.

Global warming or no global warming, we need to stop fucking up the environment.
lxvlx 2 years ago
Sure, but what is "fucking up" the environment? And if you have clearly defined what is "fucking up the envionrment," can you name of the any other things that may be "fucking up" the environment on your terms?
Tripo1iSamson 2 years ago
Well in such a short space I obviously can't write an essay.
But in short, overpopulation + use of finite resources as if they are infinite = 'fucking the the environment'.
The meat industry and its band of consumers for one are brutally gang-raping mother nature.
lxvlx 2 years ago
I have an idea. Since you believe carbon dioxide is killing our planet, stop fucking breathing and do your part.
ricadrew 2 years ago
I never said that carbon dioxide is killing our planet, Ricadrew.
lxvlx 2 years ago
Okay, so overpopulation and use of finite resources to you means "fucking up the environment." Bad news then, moron. Nomads did that, it was the very reason they had to walk from area to area, American Indians did it, animals do it, as things in ecological systems are always changing naturally. The "meat industry" has just been demonized to a ridiculous point as well, but since you seem to buy into several levels of this stuff it's probably pointless to argue with you. But your definitions suck.
Tripo1iSamson 2 years ago
Your examples of nomads and american indians are invalid as the world was not overpopulated then.
The meat industry has been rightly 'demonized' because it plays a fundamental role in the unnecessary overuse and abuse of limited resources. For example, the amount of grain that goes into producing one eight-ounce steak could feed 45 to 50 people.
lxvlx 2 years ago
Actually my examples of nomads and Americans fit your earlier description perfectly. So fuck off, I'm not arguing fact with you.
Tripo1iSamson 2 years ago
Also I'm pretty sure crops don't count as limited resources or at least as nonrenewable ones since they can be grown. And American Indians and others not only did brush burning and killed so many of the local animal populations and ate so many fruits and berries without replanting them that they had to move around all the time, you've also never been taught this, or knowing this offends your mindset of everything modern is wrong. You say the world wasn't overpopulated then. Says who? What areas?
Tripo1iSamson 2 years ago
"You say the world wasn't overpopulated then. Says who? What areas? "
Oh dear...
lxvlx 2 years ago
Right, you're just expressing a certain attitude, not a fact or a cited thought or belief or anything. Just regular ol' run-o-the-mill modern self-hating liberaltics.

You're absolutely right about the meat industry. People should kill their own food like Ted Nugent.

Exactly, these unelected elites are the same ones responsible for dumping toxic chemicals into our drinking water and we're supposed to just "trust" them to control all life emissions on the planet?
joygarner 2 years ago

You need to quote your data in context, just because one local area had anomalous temperature patterns, that is not relevant to the global mean.
loveofphysics 2 years ago
Is Jim Hansen the guy that did The Muppets? Why would we listen to him about global warming?
Subtle lie immediately above: they indicated it was for the U.S. record.
Are you actually saying an increase in one value of a summation won't affect the mean? Or do you mean to imply that some areas were colder? Data (in context), please. Chirp . . . chirp . . . chirp
Troglodite13 2 years ago
hey troglodite, they spun the quote to make it sound as if the US mean was equivalent to the global mean, so it was a "subtle" lie.
