This is probably the weirdest sensation I've ever felt. I remember this game. I was 4 years old, maybe 5, when this game entered my household, and yet I remember.
BTW this game used to randomly Guru Meditate on me :( I had some serious trouble playing it until I bought an Amiga 1200... BTW, I still play this game on my Amiga 1200 :) Nothing beats playing this on it because the second disk gets memory cached with 2MB of Chip RAM available :)
@holodock The game's a big pile of crap. If you pay close attention to the pilot names, sometimes the pilots that come back/get shot down during an adventure aren't the same ones you send out. Somewhere along the way, the game gets them mixed up. I had trouble on the final mission if all my craft were destroyed. I had to work out a method where I'd send some back inside as soon as the battle started so that if the rest died, they'd survive. Otherwise, the game would guru.
@Mattkamineko Hm strange. I played the game at least a dozen times yet I never experienced that pilot switch bug and its pretty hard not to notice something like that considering how well players remember their pilots stats because of the lack of god stats players :)
Either way I really liked the game however this is the first game I hacked in order to get certain formulas available for the manufacturing plant :D
Either way I still have fond memories of this game :)
IXiX blabrfaXen DraXli... Oh yeah... I remember that little Vampirer fuck which I regret for not blowing to pieces for the first time when I had the chance :D
If you find that the tractor beam is far too delicate or it seems far too hard to use after a reasonable amount of practice then you will be best to try the following...
Run the A1200 emulated to an A500.
This will make the tractor beam work how I belive it should.
You WILL get far more minerals this way and for the terrible level that has about 15 orbiting cylinders it will really help....
A very good game but let down by a poor manual and translation...
This game is hard as hell :) The problem is that you need to advance in technology really fast since once you get to meet that silly Vampirer guy you are going to get into much tougher situations. I played this game almost 15 years ago but I still think that its one of the best games I ever played :D Little advice to you doitle. Try to find the DraXli dictionary and learn DraXli. "IXiX blabrfaXen DraXli". LOL...I remember it after so many years :D
I'm stuck right at the beginning. I can build the Blue Giant Fighter and thaw the pilot, but I can't send it out because it claims the ship needs to be equipped with weapons and I don't have enough resources to manufacture any weapons. :/ What am I missing?
@doitle Just figured it out. I'm not sure why it was triggering the weapons error message but I was not right clicking to designate a ship to go out and fight with. This game actually... makes a lot of sense after the fact. Now I see that was pretty simple. I think once I get a ways in I'll make a sort of vocal walk through where I explain things as I play for people trying to get into it like I am now.
Those asteroids you crashed into? They're made of copper. :)
Somewhere in the 1234567890-= keys there's the accelerate and decelerate buttons. T is the tractor beam.
Position your ship in front of the asteroid and press T, and you should see the asteroid fly over you, and the 'pilot text' at the top of the cockpit should change to 'Tractor Enabled'. Go back to the 'map' screen, select the screen for that ship, and then click RETURN to order it back to base.
If you've done it right, the ship should have a little box following it on the map screen. It'll crash into a sort of red flashy thing: it's a beacon that lets you return to the ship.
After the disk swap, you'll get a message saying 'A recovered asteroid consists of 787 K COPPER', instead of 'Pilots dead: list'.
Don't forget to use the save states in winuae though, this game is HARD!
I recently won Exodus 3010, and I'm really suprised that somebody else is actually playing it! You got about as far as I did when first played the game. Don't you think it's a bit odd that the spacecraft that's carrying the last of the human race self destructs just because they can't build a spaceship?
Search google for Exodus 3010 and look for a thread entitled 'exodus 3010 help' if you want some advice.
