IMHO you should be thankful they at least produce something you enjoy in the past.
Well... no one knows for real what happened to Tarja and NW, but simple fact you can check by yourself is their music shops. Tarja in her official webshop have about 20 things, where as far as I remember 7 are CDs. Looking into NW shop we can buy simply everything we want, it brings them much more money. I don't care if they make more money or not, I'm even happy because of that, but when money takes control it's getting more and more pathetic.
@SturmFuhrerx I don't know further about rammstein, since I listen to them occasionally (i like some songs very much, just have never been interesting more about them) But look at KoRn. They used to make music they liked, but their last album, as they said, is completely different genre, since they wanted to make more money. And I felt really disappointed hearing that, looking at their old CDs on my desk. Usually when artists think more about money, their music is getting worse.
@SturmFuhrerx The best proof is old NW: their first album, oceanborn, was a pure epicness, which u could listen to all time, when they got popular(very popular to be honest) in their next albums we could find some songs that were made just to fill the empty space, to make it possible to release next CD, and sell it as soon as it's possible. Damn, it's hard to explain everything. I just want to ensure you I'm very thankful for artists' work, i always buy albums :P

I'm totally amazed that Within Temptation writes such incredible lyrics in English even though that's each members second or third (or fourth!) language. I can't write lyrics that good and I've been speaking English for years longer than anyone in Within Temptation. Is this just one little isolated, accidental mistake?

@MrWaaaaaaagh "enter" and "the dance" album are 100% symphonic gothic metal.."mother earth" "silent force" and "heart of everything" are symphonic metal/rock (very very symphonic,with an orchestra of 80 people).. "the unforgiving" some song are pop/rock,but the others are a powerful symphonic rock :)

Bands "change their style" because they change as people, diffrent things inspire them to write and they will have lived and understood more of thier life. The more time goes on the more the possibility of change is there as they grow as a person. Music is about freedom of expression and we all know better than to put it in a box and label it. Besides steriotypical pop dosent have that ammount of bass -.-

Idk why people think they've changed their style. They're still the same Within Temptation they've always been! All their songs are unique in their own way. Some are heavy songs and some are more soothing songs. They don't really have just one style in my opinion...

They have their own style, it's Symphonic Metal. The Unforgiving shows however they are making a move to be mainstream more, as other bands like Evanescence and My Chemical Romance have done too. They make a lot more money by being mainstream, because it's what the majority of the population buys. Money talks.

I don't like new within temptation at all!! All their talent was used to make these mainstream poppy songs in an album which seems like an attempt to make money and not real art!

This song is very different from the rest of The Unforgiving, and the rest of the Within Temptations repertoire for that matter. I love the song as a one shot thing, but would be disappointed if WT change their style to match this song.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and thoughts. I love old Within Temptation, they are classic and wonderfully moody. I do have to say that I like this current album. It is different from their usual stuff but to me it still sounds like Within Temptation.
I'm not listening to WT for a long time, but I like them. Maybe they had an other music style, but I think it's okay when the music is good. I think not the music style makes a band special, the songs make it, when they are good and people like them. and everybody likes other music, so it's okay if one person says "the song is very nice" and an other person says "i don't like it"
I'm little confused and I don't know how to express my feelings now... I really miss their old style - it was oryginal and awesome in my opinion. On the other hand, Sinead is nice song (I'm listening to very different kinds of music), but it doesn't fit them completely... When I heard it first time, I couldn't belive that is WT, but it was sure of course that is Sharon's voice... After all I hope they will come back to gotic metal 'cause that's what makes them so much special in my view
@inez3 Pretty sure they have stated in the past that they hated being pegged as 'gothic.'
In any case, I like their new stuff the same as the old stuff, but I also don't pointlessly limit myself to extremely specific genres like it seems a lot of people do, or begrudge bands for trying to branch out and try different sounds. I trust that WT as music artists will keep putting out music I want to hear. When they stop, then I will have a problem.
To be honest, it was their own idea, they wanted to trie something different in all of their albums, if you listen they all through, you will notice that they aren't same kind of music at all, and to that "gothic metal, it's hardly gothic, it's more like symphonic metal, like they (WT) have stated. So I have to go with @Ashleymjy in this.

Bands "change their style" because they change as people, diffrent things inspire them to write and they will have lived and understood more of thier life. The more time goes on the more the possibility of change is there as they grow as a person. Music is about freedom of expression and we all know better than to put it in a box and label it. Besides steriotypical pop dosent have that ammount of bass -.-

Idk why people think they've changed their style. They're still the same Within Temptation they've always been! All their songs are unique in their own way. Some are heavy songs and some are more soothing songs. They don't really have just one style in my opinion...

They have their own style, it's Symphonic Metal. The Unforgiving shows however they are making a move to be mainstream more, as other bands like Evanescence and My Chemical Romance have done too. They make a lot more money by being mainstream, because it's what the majority of the population buys. Money talks.

If a band want to change style,they should do it with another name..if WT sell albums with the name of "Within Temptation" people think of buying a metal album..or at least with the same style that characterizes the "Within Temptation".

ok excuses, when i said "this" is pop, i was referring to sinead and not the whole album. but of course the whole album too has nothing to do with gothic metal, neither symphonic metal. and yes, Sharon herself has recently said that they are a symphonic rock band. but i really don't see the reason why we should all argue about what this new style is.

I don't like new within temptation at all!! All their talent was used to make these mainstream poppy songs in an album which seems like an attempt to make money and not real art!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and thoughts. I love old Within Temptation, they are classic and wonderfully moody. I do have to say that I like this current album. It is different from their usual stuff but to me it still sounds like Within Temptation.

I'm not listening to WT for a long time, but I like them. Maybe they had an other music style, but I think it's okay when the music is good. I think not the music style makes a band special, the songs make it, when they are good and people like them. and everybody likes other music, so it's okay if one person says "the song is very nice" and an other person says "i don't like it"

I'm little confused and I don't know how to express my feelings now... I really miss their old style - it was oryginal and awesome in my opinion. On the other hand, Sinead is nice song (I'm listening to very different kinds of music), but it doesn't fit them completely... When I heard it first time, I couldn't belive that is WT, but it was sure of course that is Sharon's voice... After all I hope they will come back to gotic metal 'cause that's what makes them so much special in my view

@inez3 Pretty sure they have stated in the past that they hated being pegged as 'gothic.'
In any case, I like their new stuff the same as the old stuff, but I also don't pointlessly limit myself to extremely specific genres like it seems a lot of people do, or begrudge bands for trying to branch out and try different sounds. I trust that WT as music artists will keep putting out music I want to hear. When they stop, then I will have a problem.

To be honest, it was their own idea, they wanted to trie something different in all of their albums, if you listen they all through, you will notice that they aren't same kind of music at all, and to that "gothic metal, it's hardly gothic, it's more like symphonic metal, like they (WT) have stated. I do indeed prefere the older stuff but this is good too.
