Another way: force quit the computer, and hold 4 fingers down on your mousepad as you boot up again - this cues the Mac to spit the disc out - work straight away for me after reading and trying all sorts of things!!
idk if hteres is a CD stuck in it alredy but when i put a new CD inside it fits all the way if i push it through but it wont take the CD in like when it makes that noise and it wont read the CD
no way!!! i got a 2010 HP notebook laptop if i forced i will breack it my laptop no way, its cost me 7.28 dollars no way, i m looking another way thanks.
OMGosh!! You really are my Hero. After countless hours of searching forums and trying many different methods, this was the only one that worked. I was almost ready to give up. THANKS a million BRO!!
I've just got my macbook today and I'm trying to put a disk in...and it's not going in. It should grab it and light up shouldn't it? But isn't. Someone help me. :(
I think if the disk is stuck to the point where holding the eject at startup doesn't work, you should either take the laptop in for repairs or (if you're comfortable doing this yourself) open up the computer and then, open the drive (I mean take it apart) to recover your disk, and possibly fix your drive so it doesn't get stuck like that.
While I can see that your solution works, it seems risky, like you may damage the drive and the disk doing this.
An even better solution: You turn the powerbook off. Or any slot-loading macbook for that matter, and then just turn it on while holding down the mouse button. This will make your normal boot a tad bit longer, but it will force eject the cd before the apple shows up. And you don't get a scratched cd.
hey glad It works for everyone! To be honest I have no idea what else it works with. People have commented thatnit worked with newer macbooks so I would think it would work with all of the apple products at least. I would say there's a pretty good chance of it working with a 17" PowerBook since the parts are probably the same. As far as the Dell laptops I'd say if you're desperate you could always give it a try but I'd hate to tell Any of you wrong as I an not liable for anything that may happen

@EliteNinja96 If it's a slot loading drive it might work but it may be built differently so I would recommend taking it in for repairs. On the other hand, if you feel that you can open it without totally ruining it, unscrew the computer and then take the CD drive itself apart to recover the disk. Depending on how the computer is designed you may be able to just replace the entire drive without any tools other than what you need to open the computer
@EliteNinja96 Another solution for you- if it's a tray loading drive, it may have a manual eject hole in case it "eats" the disk. Do the "paper clip trick" (stick one in the hole) and the tray should pop open slightly. If there's no "eject hole" and no software trickery makes the drive open, again you'll have to take apart the drive (and thus your computer) or take it in for repairs.
This video worked on my Apple Powerbook, too! The CD drawer is located on the front of the laptop versus the side as shown on the video. Be sure to insert the cardboard strip of cereal box deeper than your fear instinct might tell you! I used a piece of cardboard from the top of a cheerios cereal box, fyi. Eugene
Your tip also works on an Apple Powerbook with the CD insertion "door" on the front of the computer versus the right side of the laptop as shown on your video. I was really pissed and stayed up until 3 a.m. tinkering. I am very grateful for your help. Do you have a webpage showing more helpful fixes? tnx again. You scored some heaven points! Eugene
Hi, I just ejected my cd from my powerbook with the cd drawer located in front, versus the side as shown. You might try again but insert the cardboard from a cereal box deeper than you think is prudent. I just posted my success. Hope my comment helps? eugene louie
No problem and I'm glad I could help both of you because it took me forever to find a sure fire way to get a disk out of my powerbook when it got stuck. And that's a good idea using another cd, I never thought of that!
