John Carpenter is a genius, and this is a kick-ass grindhouse westernian action classic. Just compare it to that garbage Tarantino and Rodriguez directed on their literal homages to the grindhouse genre "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof". This movie is miles better to those two, more genuine in spirit, it captures the spirit of those 70's movies in a powerful way. Old school filmmaking with guts, pure fun crafted by a master of the genre. Probably the best action movie of the 00's.
