It was a very ill-advised move for her to do a Playboy layout and nude PPV special at that point in her life. Lots of celebrities did those things back then - Jessica Hahn, LaToya Jackson, among others - basically these people were degrading themselves for one last shot at fame and notoriety. Unlike the others I named, Farrah was not a "fame whore" and the move was so out of character for her, whereas LaToya and Jessica did it on more than one occasion.

Wake up folks. Just because Farrah died a horrible death that she didn't deserve, doesn't mean that this appearance doesn't typify the kind of elitist Hollywood behavior that she embodied. If one watches some of her old interviews on Carson show in the 1980s then you would see she did a similar bit with Carson back then. You really had to know her or be a fan to understand that this is Farrah being Farrah. And we loved her for it. Always will.
