  • Metallica used to be so fucking good. What happened to them?! Every album from Load on has just been a flaming pile of dog crap.

I'm not a hater, I love old-school Metallica, I've listened to Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, ...And Justice for All, Kill 'Em All, and of course this album, more times than I can count.

Such a shame. I wish I could bring the old Metallica forward in time to hear what they make these days. They'd probably kick their own asses for sucking so bad...

  • @Effedup I agree man.

I never thought of them overly talented nor the greatest band in the world, but they did write some amazing music for their time... If only they'd go back to how they used to make music, maybe their new shit would actually be listenable.

  • Metallica RULES and always will

  • This and Wherever I may roam....most underrated tracks on the album.

  • 45 kids under the age of 15 prefer justin bieber.

  • @juryandexecutioner epic lolol

  • @juryandexecutioner im 13 and i hate justin faggot bieber!

    METAL AND METALLICA FOREVER!!!

  • I can't wait to hear them finally play this live in a few months. They've never performed this, Struggle, or Tread live before, outside of Jason playing the bass line to Misery.

  • TUTTI A UDINE!

  • ARRIVO UDINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Black Album (1991) is Metallica's magnum opus!

  • @lyonslaforet

Eeerrrmmm, I'd disagree there. I'd have to say that would be Master Of Puppets. While the Black Album may commercially be their most successful, Master Of Puppets is the album by a band on top of their game. Classically influenced, heavy and crunchy riffs, a more matured yet still incredibly awesome vocal job by James, and Cliff Burton on bass. Rtl is their second best, and Kea their 3rd. AJFA their 4th, and the Black Album be their 5th. Well, that's my opinion.

  • @Mechaghostman3 i respect your opinion, but ride the lightning is totally their best album, still has ALL that thrash fury of kill 'em all, a bit more refined in terms of style but no so much the work of art master of puppets is. DIE! BY MY HAND!!!! (DIE! DIE! DIE!)life without metallica is no life i wanna live!

  • @ijobrien3

Yeah RTL is a great album, they have those screams in Trapped Under Ice and Escape and a few other songs, and speed. And Creeping Death is a fuckin' master piece. I guess it depends on the mood, because sometimes I want to listen to Kill 'Em All more than anything. But imo Master is their best. AJFA is their most complex, and all RTL, MOP, and AJFA have irregular time signature usage as well as some good orchestration. I do like the raw fure of Kill 'Em All though. {:-)

  • Can anyone tell which effect ( pedal ) hammet uses in 3:30 ?

  • @gioantono I think Volume Pedal or something like that

  • @gioantono watch?v=vaiAZtlUjes wait for it from 1:40 :P

  • @gioantono sounds like he just is using the volume knob on the guitar..maybe a ebow

  • Sound like a fanboy to me.

Perhaps you forgot the definition of opinion before stating such a comment.

I have all right to state this was Metallica's last great album, its my opinion, whilst yours is they haven't produced anything bad.

I used to be like you, but I grew up and got into better music. I only keep this video so others can listen to it.

Close minded? I guess anyone with a opinion is labeled as such these days, especially when its from a Metallica fanboy.

  • In response to the 2 comments on the top from the Uploader and his description in this vid. No this wasn't Metallica's last great album, Load, ReLoad, Garage Inc., St. Anger, and Death Magnetic are all great. Get a grip and stop being closed minded. I am no fanboy, I am beyond, I am a Diehard Fan, and I hate no bassist in Metallica. All were good, even if Jason left for "mental" reasons. This is the greatest Metal band, and I listen to a lot. Best singer, best compositions, and the BEST lyrics.

  • @Mechaghostman3 Sound like a fanboy to me.

  • @mujuma

Not a fanboy. Metallica have helped me through so much in the past. Fanboys, only enjoy Metallica for a few years and will stop listening, like you once were. I listen to FAR more than Metallica. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Trivium, Testament, Sodom, Lamb Of God, Dissection, Morbid Angel, Nile, Sinergy, I could go on.

    Lulu was shit.

Why say "last great album" rather than say "latest album I enjoy" huh?

Closed minded; closing ears; not giving different a chance.

  • @Mechaghostman3 DEEPEST APOLOGIES! D:!

The majority of those bands are rather mainstream in their genres, but the majority are also good.

I agree on Lulu being shit, if it was any other band it would still be shit.

As it's my video, I am entitled to being arrogant and close-minded.

You surprised me with this comment, I assumed I was dealing with another 12 year old, so I take back my previous comment.

Though, I still dislike Metallica, even though I find their old music listenable.

  • @mujuma

Well yeah, nothing wrong with mainstream as long as it has a good sound, imo.

Lulu, don't even get me started, lmao. Lou Reed singing off rhythm and out of key to a bunch of pointless shock lyrics, with bland and repetitive playing in the backing from Metallica. Pos album.

lol I guess I can see your point on being allowed to be closed minded.

Curious, what about my comment surprised you?

And yeah, no problems if you don't like Metallica, all are entitled to an opinion. {:-)

  • @Mechaghostman3 A statement from Metallica and Lou Reed: "James Hetfield expressed understanding of "fearful people", who are "typing from their mom’s basement that they still live in", stating that the band needed "to spread our wings" and try something new" "While Lou Reed stated that Lulu is for "literate people".

My comments were sarcastic, I'm Australian, I'm aloud to be a dickhead.

Your first comment felt typical of a fanboy, your next 2 seemed actually literate.

    Sorry.

  • @mujuma

I've studied every aspect of that album, nothing good about it. Metallica said it was for them, well they should have kept it to them, lol. I did find it funny when someone threatened to "kill" Lou Reed though, some butthurt fanboy out there, lol. That will just be an album that I ignore really.

    Aussies are cool.

Upon reading, I can see why you thought I was a "fanboy." I jumped in there and said "bestest this and that." lol

No need for apologizing man. {:-) It's all good.

  • @mujuma You've been owned several times, just fuckin stop already.

  • @SteelShredd Owned? I don't see any ownage, I see individuals expressing opinions, some more violently than others.

If you can't handle discussions, I suggest you leave.

  • @Mechaghostman3 I agree with you on some part, but although Reload and Load had some decent songs, none of it were really classic-album worthy if you know what I mean. I think the 4 first classic albums made people demand so much for the next one, which is the reason why alot of fans turned off on the black album. I don't blame them, because it's simply impossible to top your best work.

  • @Mechaghostman3 But about something you said in another comment; 'Closed minded; closing ears; not giving different a chance.' , that's the way how you define the uploader. Yet you say 'lulu is shit.' Another example. IMO, metallica lost it's real roots by going 'different'. If you want a good example of going 'different' Check out Pantera's Rebel Meets Rebel collab record with D.A.C: Blending a new type of music in your style while staying true to the foundations of your own.

  • @GanjaPharmzor

Referencing Pantera are we? You do know Pantera's first 4 albums were Glam Metal, don't you? Pantera's TRUE sound is the cheesy (yet for me, enjoyable) Glam Metal of the 80's. Then they changed into Groove/Thrash Metal.

I'm not closed minded about Lulu, I just recognize shite when I hear it. Pointless shock lyrics, repetitive playing, and bad singing. If you enjoy it then by all means listen, but as a guitarist, I can safely say it's bad.

  • @Mechaghostman3 Yeah I know, but I was talking about their groovy-thrashy material when I said roots, if you feel me.

I know lulu is shit, but it was more about the fact that you call people who dislike load and reload close-minded while at the same time you said 'Lulu is shit', it didn't really sound convincing if you know what I'm talking about.

But ah, it's just a matter of opinion...

  • @GanjaPharmzor

On Load and ReLoad, those albums are listenable when I'm in a mood not for Metal. I feel like listening to more chill music sometimes, that's where the Black Album and the Loads (Load and ReLoad were originally intended to be a single double disk album) as well as some stuff on Garage and Magnetic for chill music. If I want Thrash, their first 3. If I want in between, AJFA. I know people who only like KEA and half of RTL. {:-p And you're right, to each his own.

  • this was jason's idea of a bass solo, never heard him play 'orion' or 'pulling teeth'

rob can, and he can even do it without a pick (having played bass myself, i know it's harder to play that fast and that clearly with just your fingers), so why is he "less" than jason, even though he's mastered a skill jason has not?

  • @bookworm1138 Metallica fanboys will always hate the new Bassist.

Jason should of stayed in Flotsam and Jetsam, he was doing way better stuff with them.

  • @mujuma Without Jason in Metallica, you would prolly not even know F&J. Although I agree on some part, doomsday for the deceiver is one outstanding record.

  • @bookworm1138 We liked Jason more because he didn't do gorrila faces while on stage...And he didn't hold his bass below his knees and he was acting awesome on stage.

  • esa nota de cuerdas al 3:28 me mata

  • at least someone (Jason) understood misery

  • There are still dudes who thinks metallica is a heavy metal band.

  • 3:52 Hasta 4:15 es TAN Relajante esa Parte; Gracias Papá ( Q.E.P.D ) por enseñarme Musica Buena.

  • si solo metallica fuera así ahora :c

  • 45 maricas

  • el intro y desde el minuto 5:45 uffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • Kickass lyrics, a mindblowing solo that, even though simple it kicks some major ass... all in all this song is the definition of BADASS...

  • @EngorgementGuttural dont know what you just said... but i liked it anyway :^)

  • @EngorgementGuttural los que le gustan justin bieber ; )

  • when i hear metallica i feel good

  • BEST HEAVY METAL BAND OF ALL TIME NO TIME FOR HATERS THEY R THE SHIT N ALWAYS WILL BE

  • @smejme4ever you haven't heard many Heavy Metal bands then.

  • @smejme4ever DIO OZZY ALICE COOPER AC/DC ALICE IN CHAINS METALLICA MEGADETH ANTHRAX SLAYER MANOWAR they are TRUE METAL and there forth RULE

  • @smejme4ever

They were the shit up until the Black Album. After that they were just shit.

  • @MerlinAmbrosius17 Death Magnetic was good more people then less like it.

  • so lo is fucking awesome , mind blowing

  • old metallica is great metal new metallica sucks lol

  • bons momentos lembro ouvindo essa musica, essa musica e do caralho!

  • It's a volume pedal on a six string on the solo, not a bass.it's on the g and b string running through your neck pickup to give it that nice warm tone..I've played it it's a pretty basic part

  • Rented. Paradise Lost Revelations: and this song and others come out in the documentary hearing this and Damien Echols part about his stay in prison is so sad...

  • @mujuma i'll drop by sometime soon....

  • @mujuma ATTENTION, may i be first to say... PENIS!!!

  • @mujuma You bout to get raped by a 6ft black dude.

  • Yeah this is truely Metallica's last great album.

  • So impressive bass intro

  • @EdwardFitzallen

    No, it's a bass. Jason's bass.

  • metallica inspired to move on from generic rap/pop/RnB... into metal and evryday am grateful of this movement

  • 3 seconds into this i knew it would be fucking unbelievable.

  • you 43 assholes....i dislike you and personally wil search and destroy you

  • damn metallica kick asss!!! idk care if there new album is no that good but will still kick ass!

  • Is that a wind instrument during the beginning of the solo?

  • @Eyelykecakex2 That my friend is Jason Newstead on bass.

  • @Eyelykecakex2 It's a guitar played through a volume pedal.

  • Comment removed

  • good solo

  • METALLICA ROCKS!!!

  • All of your opinions are like assholes....Everyone has one and no one gives a shit. Shut the fuck up and enjoy the music. If not, Get a life, Get the fuck off and don't hate. You are just jealous because Metallica is way more famous and can actually write music than you can to save your life.

  • @fatihalt I disagree. I think it sounds bad and sounds like they try to be heavy

  • This song is the reason I started playing bass :D

  • Metallica is the greatest ....

  • metallica knows they are the shit, and they are legends. it doesnt matter what you fags on the internet say haha. ur opnions mean nothing.

  • @0LyriKal0 neither does yours.

  • @mujuma You are a scientist for figuring that out

  • @mujuma kinda what he just said.

  • @mujuma hahahahhahaha Right on!

  • @mujuma death magnatic in your fkn face you piece of shit

  • @zaidulrich are you trying to threaten me due to the fact I dislike Death Magnetic? a failed attempt at Metal from a once-great Band?

I think you need to educate yourself in the importance of "opinion", grow up.

  • @mujuma if u dont like death magnatic then u shouldnt listen to rock music at all and stop giving stupid opinions. thats my opinion

  • @zaidulrich typical Metallica fanboy.

You do realise such comments only make you and your fellow Metallica listeners look like arrogant fucks?

If you can't handle opinions that don't match your own, you should remove yourself from Youtube.

You can like the pile of shit all you want, I don't.

  • @mujuma then why are you here trolling?

  • @MrRazzio Trolling? that was a laugh...

I'm sorry, you seem to have gotten "opinion" and "mindless abuse/hate" mixed up.

Also, this is my video, I uploaded it 2-3 years ago when I was a fan of Metallica.

  • @mujuma you uploaded this video? you're in trouble, Lars is coming to get you.

  • @MrRazzio by the way, i may have responded to the wrong person. you weren't trolling. the people coming here and saying "metallica blows!" are trolling.

that being said, i'm a huge metallica fan, but death magnetic really wasn't a good album. try this... listen to anything on death magnetic and then go listen to Orion off Master of Puppets, and you realize how far they've fallen from making GOOD music.

  • @MrRazzio Oh noes, him and his tin cans ):<

  • @0LyriKal0 u are shit they r best

  • @0LyriKal0 amen to that xD

  • Que bajo tan certero

  • Mujuma is kind of right. I have a Metallica video.. 17million+ views. Metallica is pure shit to my ears now.

  • Love this song.

  • Metallica + SABATON THX fore the great music :D

  • This is unbeleivable

  • @fatihalt

    Shut the fuck up!

It was Metallica's last great album...

After Black Album, just some songs were REALLY perfect...

    Death Magnetic was just fine

  • @hrockshow1

You can find songs you don't like as much as you like others in almost every single album of every band. For example, Master was a killer album, but no one pretty much listened The Thing That Should Not Be, or The God That Failed and Of Wolf and Man from this 1. Some songs which are "REALLY perfect" will be enough to make an album awesome. For Load and Reload, maybe these are Fuel, Unforgiven 2, etc. and for Death Magnetic, The End of the Line, Broken Beat&Scarred, Unforgiven 3...

  • @hrockshow1

Yet I too think that St.Anger was a piece of shit :D

  • @fatihalt Death magnetic is their best work since master.

  • Great song. As for new albums, Load and Death Magnetic are pretty good imo.

  • @fatihalt yes, a statement I 100% believe in.

Metallica are used-goods, they never were anything talented but they did create some amazing Metal in the '80's.

You can defend Load, St. Anger, Death Magnetic all you want, and its your opinion on how "great" their newer stuff is. I'd much rather listen to my own feces in a blender than new-age Metallica. Oh I was a huge Metallica fan, but then I grew up and got into others genres and bands.

    :)

  • @mujuma Spot on with how i feel too the old shit is awesome anything new is sell out fluff.

  • @mujuma

I doubt you have ever listened to Death Magnetic fully.

  • @fatihalt I have, and I dislike it.

If they actually had a drummer that knew what he was doing, perhaps it might of been better.

  • @mujuma Its because lars recorded with concert drums not studio thats why they sound shitty. its production not lars.

  • @mujuma

I repeat: you DID NOT LISTEN THE ALBUM FULLY. Don't listen to the first 30 secs of songs and judge them that way. Listen the whole thing trying to catch the melody and rythm, and listen it 3-4 times, then u'll see.

Besides, don't throw shit on Lars; despite his age, he still made those kickass beats in that album.

  • @fatihalt what will it take to get it through your head?

I've heard it all, I enjoyed it when I was a typical Metallica fan, now all I see is a once great band trying to redeem themselves with a terrible album.

Lars is one of the worst, or THE worst drummer in Metal. Many drummers of old age have produced greater quality and listenable work than he has when he began.

  • @mujuma Lol easy there! Fatihalt can't take much more hahaha

  • @c0d0r12 I dislike it when people can't seem to understand the meaning of "personal preference" and "opinion". He can defend Metallica all he wants, but the way I see it, they don't deserve the fame they've achieved.

Bands like Overkill have stayed true to their roots, even with experimenting with a Groovier sound they still sounded Thrash, yet still produce amazing work, but they get hardly any recognition.

Though, as I've said, that's my opinion.

  • @mujuma hey, metallica doesn't give a fuck about your genres. they play their own shit, and they kick ass. and their songs on a deep level.

  • @mujuma

Dude, wake up... What is staying true to roots? Is this a religion?

There is just good music, that impresses millions and bad music made with little or no effort.

I heard the name of the band "Overkill" because of this band. And don't take me as a fanboy; I listen to bands like Queen, Zeppelin and Sabbath. Like you said, it's all about personal opinion... The point is, there are a lot of people who liked Death Magnetic; and you just put it in the "crap" section. Sorry for you...

  • this song is a masterpiece, lyrics and music

    Hail to you, Metallica

    Mexico

  • 42 people in misery

  • I haven't listen to metallica in a while but this is the best song I ever heard by them and am I evil xD

  • @Doiknow97 apparently "am I evil" is a song by Diamond Head, Metallica just covered it. I can say the original is a lot better, but that never means Metallica cover is bad.

  • @erdem666

Metallica covered several Diamond Head tracks on Garage inc. I believe they were released as B-sides originally.

  • @smith55s yup, because diamond head is such a huge influence for them, you know they' re like the oldest band of nwobhm, even older than iron maiden. the funny fact is, they played under megadeth lol. what a shame...

  • METALLICA RULES!!!! I'll tell you what!!!! One thing I really like about listening to great Heavy Metal tunes like this, is it always seems to get me out of depression. I don't dwell on what's bugging me or shit like that. And this has been the year from HELL for me. Been out of work for 7 months, went through seemingly endless frustration this year. Anyway, enough about that.

    METALLICA FUCKING RULES!!! \m/ \m/

  • Thi is probably in my top 5 favourite black album songs...

  • cant wait to see these at download festival. nom. ;D

  • Imagine this song if it was on ...And Justice For All album.

    Hell no, it would suck

  • My favorite track of the album !!!!

  • this is HEAVY!

  • Donington 2012! My Friend of Misery and Don't Tread on me!

    I Can't wait!

  • @JeanMetallicA Fuck yeah!! Can't wait either. This will be my third time seeing them, the first was Download 2006 with Master of Puppet's in its entirety and now this. Going to be fucking awesome!

  • Awesome song. The intro is just a mindsmasher and the solo is a facemelter. The riffs are just mindblowing! Gotta be their most well made song at all time. Im so gonna make a cover of this song.

  • Best song

  • 42 people confused the DISLIKE button for DIS-I-LIKE.

  • @SharpAdze old joke that is not funny anymore douchebag

  • @MasterMetallica010 It's not so pose to be a joke, shit stain.

It's a parody of the Dislike button and three people like so shut up before you say shit.

  • @SharpAdze sex

  • DOWNLOAD 2012... BLACK ALBUM!

    Holy fucking shit!!

  • Metallica announced to headline download festival 2012 on saturday, YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES.

  • BEST Metallica song hands down!!

  • I think, if you really listen to this song, this one where Kirk really lets us see his true side through his soloing.

  • I just saw Metallica in concert a week ago, they were as awesome as ever. James' voice never changed. They were GREAT!

  • For me, this song is the best one of the Black Album, more dark and depressive than the others songs. The bass intro, put you down instantaneously.

  • fuck metallica 2 heaven

  • I don't understand why they never played this song live :<

  • @sebasd21 because this is newsteads song. I heard lars say on a show a couple of days ago that they plan to play to live is to die live soon

  • @sebasd21 i always wondered that too, but now were all going to see it in the Black Album anniversary tour. Cant wait

  • @sebasd21 I think this song is really underrated...

  • @sebasd21 In 2012 they will do this one and all the Black album !!! Fuck YEAH !!!!

  • @sebasd21 in summer 2012 metallica will play the full the black album in denmark

  • @sebasd21 Because of Jason. Jamos and Lars always treated him like shit, so didn't play his song live

  • @sebasd21 they will, 28th of May, Werchter (Belgium). where I am going to be :D

  • @sebasd21 They did in Beograd 2004

  • @sebasd21 well Jason used quite a bit of it live in bass-solos

  • they were a great band back in de day, now they are just money hungry jews that would fart in a microphone and try sell it under the metallica brand while they cry to their shrinks about how rich they are.....

  • @stanconsidine your a racist faggot...

  • @knight7701 your jewish lol?

  • their last good album!

  • first time hearing this song but ive been a metallica all my life, i can say it is fucking badass

  • Best fucking nasty sexy solo !!!!

  • Nostalgia by Nocturnal Depression

  • @therealsasukeguy to much of a typical Black Metal band for me.

  • @mujuma Really? Heh, I love it, But I was mentioning this band because the riff in this song sounds similar to the one in Nostalgia

  • @therealsasukeguy That song has influence on this one yes, but if you listen in a interview when they were making the Black Album Jason said that they were listening to a lot of music of different bands, that one included ND.
