@neoshaolin1 Whether this is Korean or Japanese is irrelevant, this is a very high quality product. The art is stunning and the story is good. This ranks up there with Metropolis and Ghost in the Shell. Also, Korea is a highly advanced society, anyone who says different is ignorant of facts.

So its Korean huh well I could tell in the faces, they're so stiff. For some reason Korean animes are like that though it maybe a good movie nonetheless and I think Japanese have better animation just a lot of animes are made to simply sell toys and other junk so they don't take too much into story or animation. But the rePly good stuff is amazing like moribito anything studio ghibli and black lagoon, one piece I can go on but this is a pretty cool movie.

This is probably the best looking animated movie ever made to date! .......yet it suffers from the most appalling banding i have ever seen in a movie. It took 7 years to make this, and it looks like it at times, because it looks simply breathtaking, but then how did the makers not notice the banding issues that were happening in there glorious animation during the production of this film. It is hard not to notice, as it even appears in the faces here and there, aaaaarrrrrrrgh!

Japanese Anime and Manga is a evolution of American cartoons. Anime was originally from Disney's cartoons. That doesn't mean Anime is American, just everything has its roots. I hope you know that many Japanese animes have some of their artwork done in South Korea. If you watch the credits of some anime you see things like Seoul Loft (Seoul is the capital of Korea) and a wide range of Korean members who helped. Even the Simpsons has had some work done in Korea.

I see your reference to Akira as it uses a cyberpunk-type setting. However, if you read Akira and watched this film, you see that they're entirely different in message and nature. This film was more realistic with a message. Akira had some good messages in the story, but it was, superficially, mainly action with a guy with superpowers. I find it amazin that this film isnt rly on the map - i have the original DVD copy and it is amazing quality. This anime took them 7 years to make and is imho one of the if not the best anime i have ever seen. There is no other animated move that manages to portray human emotions as much as this film does. To define it simply.....pure art.

Sky Blue is definitly worth watching. It's one of my favourite anime films. But its immensely better watching it from dvd on a nice big screen. The visuals are spectacular with an a gripping plot. Buy the DVD! Its only about 6 pounds.
