The church of Christ and the church of God is the same thing, there are many church of God with the same doctrine as the church of Christ, they are church of Christ but chose to use the name church of God,, some also call them selves The Church, as Christ did. Any church can use the names that the Paul describes them as, even The Church of the brethren, dont get to caught up in the name Christ, It is only a Title, it is Greek, and inter-translated. He is the brother of the sister who wrote this song, and you have to hear him lead it. It will bring tears to your eyes!!!

The church is the Body of Christ, of which we are members. The name "church of Christ" simply describes who we belong to. The Way, church of Christ, church of God, the Body of Christ, the Lord's church, and others are all accurate ways to describe to whom we belong. God describes his people in many different ways, it's a worldly idea that only one description can be used. Let us not be conformed by this world, but rather accept brethern who are in the Body and describe themselves as such.

I didn't say anything about that group of holy rollers - I stated that the church of Christ and the church of God is the same, and it is - it is also the Lord's church, the body of Christ etc. "church of Christ" is a description, not a title, and I don't see how you can jump on me for saying that the church of God mentioned in Acts 20:28 is the same church mentioned in Romans 16:16 and elsewhere.

@rotary57 We have to be careful what we say. Not sure if that was said in a way that is pleasing to God. 2ndly, the Bible does use the term Church of God in Christ Also Church of God and Church of God by Faith. So, while the name matters the substance matters more. if you wrong and got the right name you still wrong. And we should not be flippant with the lost. It is a big turn off.

This is the absolute opposite of how that should be executed. Be mindful that the single most effective way of soul-winning is to first show love.
