Try watching the version of Master Bonner - as good as McKeller in a different way - surely the purest boy soprano voice ever. A superb song which never fails to send goosebumps down my spine
I truely beleive that no one could sing a better version than this .. it's moving and sung with great feeling and compassion quite spiritual for me this divine
It's great to hear a beautiful song performed so perfectly. Of course Kenneth will always be a legend and will always be remembered by me and many of my friends
and collegues. I also concur with my namesake Martin O'Rourke.s sentiments.
I just love listening to his songs. we do not hear them often enough on the media.
The first LP I bought in the 70's contained K McK singing Handel's Largo . In the intervening 40 years or so I've yet to hear it sung better. I was accidentally introduced to one of the greatest singers I have ever heard. May I also second the sentiments of my fellow Gael oroukemarty.
@MsMelanieS1 I have it on Decca CD "Where'er you walk: songs of inspiration" 448-902-2. Includes several other sublimely beautiful pieces by this effortlessly lyrical artist.
He did a beautiful rendition of The Lord's Prayer. I also really love "The Lost Chord" and "Jerusalem". I grew up listening to my dad's records of Mr. McKellar.
Kenneth McKellar(1927-2010) as well at home in traditional folksongs, ballads, religious and classical repertoire. Scotland has lost one of its greatest singers ever.He will be missed enormously, but we must be grateful for the immense quantity of songs he left behind on record. I have it least 40 LP's, there is no chance he will be forgotten. RIP

One of the best renditions of this song that I can recall almost matching the great John McCormack.

Absolutely sublime. Somehow the Scottish accent and flawless diction make a perfect piece even better.

Ar Fheabhas Kenneth!
I never liked McK when I was a boy. Now he is a wonderful companion.

@MsMelanieS1 It is on one of the Decca "Your Hundred Best Tunes". Not sure of the volume but that is where I heard it first.

I discovered McK very very indirectly, by super browsing! What a voice! I am glad I found this gem. I promptly bought his CD singing McCormack today.
Another major contribution of the Scots to the world. There is so much that they gave to the world.

mckellar was a very sincere tenor, lovely tone, impeccable diction,no nonsense,
enjoyed a huge and well deserved public following. In spite of that I believe he was somewhat underrated.

What is that noise at 2:35? Is Christopher Walken in the background demanding more Cow Bell? =)

Beautiful epitaph to a great singer
Pity there are no versions of his Handel Arias on You Tube - "Ombra Mai Fu" and "Where ere you walk" are two of the best versions I've ever heard.

@amsquared
I have just emailed a transfer of his classic 'Silent Worship' from Handel's Ptolemy to a regular YT poster - so I hope it will appear here soon!
