    Tho I have to say that you don't always have to go to failure... Especially not if you wanna get stronger =P

    What you should do if you really want to get stronger are focus on doing 5x5. If you already can do that than try doing it with some weights. Start low and each time you do it (maybe 1 or twice a week) you try a little more weight. Slowly increasing is the secret here. I focus 80% on chin-ups because you get the best work out stretching out your arms 100%.

  • Hey Mike, Ive been doing lats for some time, at most I can do 8 w/o assist in one set. Then in the 2nd and 3rd set it goes down to 6. What my problem is that my grip gets tired quicker than my lats or back, like the forearm starts burning and i'm unable to grip the bar properly and I'll end up like a poor man hanging on his life.

    Any idea how can I balance things out? It also happens with any other dumbbell or bar exercise. Thanks

  • Hey Mike, ive got a couple of questions for you. okay when i first started working out i was 260 pounds and ive lost 45 pounds. but what i noticed is that i have kind of hanging skin how am i supposed to get ride of it? its around my stomach. and my second question is when you have a ripped body how are you supposed to keep in shape rather then just getting in shape and then getting fat again. im just looking for tips so if you reply that would be much appreciated.

    About the hanging skin is very different for each individual.

    Have you been overweight in many years then you'll probably feel more loose skin than others. Most people get rid of the hanging skin by weight training; instead of fill the skin with fat - fill it with muscles! :-)

  • @BoralesPride Dude, the only way to loose weight is: Eat healthy. It's just that hard, just skip those small "innocent" snacks like croissants, donuts or anything like that, and just restrain from eating candy. That's how you keep in shape, keep eating healthy :)

  • I'm pretty sure for him to get his chin above the bar you would be using your biceps mainly, from the distance he stops at. That's not what he wants to be working in that exercise.

  • Do you recommend doing inverted pull-ups? By this I mean bringing the back of your neck to the bar? I've had some real success with that range of motion. Thoughts?

  • @minge9 theres monkey bars in most parks, at a perfect pullup height, if you dont have a bar bringing your ipod and going there is usually perfect; the more you get fit the more ppl will be looking at you, the more youll get motivation and therefore better results. you need recognition for efforts to motivate yourself, everyone does :)

  • @ziggy44132 Also, this video shows how to build a back so to an extent it makes sense to not do the portion of the exercise that works your upper bicep, it actually keeps the strain on your lat.

  • @hempire77 and it's also true if you never do them completely you don#t have any strength at the top, so even if he can do 12 with his entire bodyweight+exrta weight he probably can't do 2 with his chest touching the bar, so if you are training for strength and practibility, where the actual focus of strength training should be, and not just to be simply bloated, full range of motion is the way to go

  • @MutsuKazuma Id expect more than 1/6 his reps w/full range. Do mine in full but I wouldnt generalize where actual focus "should be". If we were meant to have the same body we'd all be on the same diet and plan and personal trainers would be useless. Since close grip and underhand chin^s directly follow, in this case i see benefit in saving your bis for the exercises that depend on them more. not gonna change my form based on this vid but i see both sides of the coin.

  • @MutsuKazuma i concur. 51 . im a small frame ecto morph. pullups are magnificent...amount of reps not important.. full range of motion. all the way up. all the way down.technique is everything. be correct. be consistant. be informed. dont be balistic. pump aint it.i have seen a pump guy get snatched by a slim strong guy. his focus was on technique. i repeat. full ROM ...all the way. all the way down. technique. correct-consistant-informed. start slow 2 twice a week. underhand...

Do this! : appart from doing variations of crunches and cardio try this: once your good at pullups raise yourself to pullup height and stay there(as in your head close to the bar. then raise your legs(that are staight) upwards as if your back was against a wall. doing leg raises while hanging from a pullupbar will work your back and biceps as you have to maintain your place, and your abs! your pullupbar just became a freeticket to hardabs!:)

When do you think i will be able to do the leg raises from the pull up bar? yeah it does work the back and biceps. I can also work the triceps on which way you grab the pull up bar. yeah hopefully!!!

  • @wineftw ya it probably is because the best exercise to increase the amount of reps you can do is the actual exercise because it works the same exact muscles and no other 1 exercise will work them. But you can do lat-pull downs they are basically pull ups that you can adjust the weight instead of using your fixed weight (AKA your weight) So basically the best exercises would be curls, lat pull downs, seated rows (other back exercises) but none of these will compare to actual pull-ups.

  • @RubberNuke alright ill look into it. thanks for the info. and if your thinking on enlisting, contacted a recruiter if you havnt already, they do weekly workouts and monthly poolee events. you probaly not old enough yet but maybe theyll let you work out with them. thats what i did and its the BEST way to go to be prepared.

  • @iBoeiakasha Well, I'm not an expert, but I'm an Ectomorph, used to be SKINNY AS FUCK ;L I used to rest ages between sets, maybe 25 seconds, do 5 seconds of heavy, good, deep breathing and you'll see a massive improvement.

    I've been doing pull-ups, right now I'm doing sets of 30 with various grips: wide, closed underarm, wide swinging Vs, and one where my palms face each other using a horizontal ladder. Lately I've been doing one that requires u to go all the way up, until the bar is at the hip, and come down.

    But I'm not getting any results anywhere other than my arm biceps(i think that's what it's called). 1. Am I exerting the wrong muscles? 2. How can I increase the difficulty of each pull?

  • @ImperialArmour shouldn't just do pull ups work out your entire body and after that you can do some exercises that work a certain muscle

  • a tip about the underhand pull up(chin ups), this may be an easier exercise for beginners. this is due to the exercise not fully isolating the lats but also introducing the biceps as well. overhand is usually for those who can do more pull ups. do work!

  • Key for the pullups is to do them REALLY slowly , using very good form,no cheating.....and getting the V taper should be a goal for you first , not for impress girls... sorry for the english
