I got tired of using these so-called "miracle designers" swirl mark removers and got the real thing., 3M's Perfect-It kit. I started with the Extra Fine Cut Compound, then the Swirl Mark Remover which removes the Compound swirl marks (BTW this is NOT a filler but a REMOVER) and finish the triple treatment with the Ultrafina Swirl Eliminator leaving the paint just like the day my SUV left the factory. No swirl marks at all. Very satisfied with the results.
akaldaarson the reason the swirls come back is that most detailers don't use the right polish and pads and there polishers are made to a price not a quality. We at xpert detailing can take out 1000 grit swirls with a two pad system and only one polish and we don't fill swirls we slice.most of the polishers on the market these days require too many different pads and two or three different polishes to get a mirror finish..
i have just a few questions, number one is after your done useing the cutting pad and buffing you get swirls, then after you polish it,it looks good..or until you wash it again then all the swirls come back. and black cars are the worst on this, i was wondering if its because i didnt buff it long enough or what?3-5 minutes and no matter what swirls always come back
It depends on what pad and polish you are using, where are you doing this work? you need to be in doors prefereably with halogen lights that show up the swirls! Always use the least abrasive pad and polish to start with if the swirls are still there try a heavier abrasive polish. if you use a heavy avrasive then you need to go down step by step in abrasiveness for example, Sonus SFX 1 then Sonus SFX 2 and then Sonus SFX 3 and use a glaze the a wax
Also you might have the wrong wash technique, try using a 2 bucket wash method with a washmit not a sponge, a sponge is a flat surface and will drag small particles across the paint and leave swirls etc on the car. a washmit (lambswool) will draw the particles in the mitt and away from the paint.
try using a 2 bucket was method 1 with clean water and 1 soapy water, dip in soapy and wash the car, rinse in clean water to wash all the muck of the wash mitt, also a grit guard is a good idea in the bottom of the clean water so the mitt will never touch the grit in the bottom! Remember swirls are almost indefinatley going to happen the only thing possible to reduce them is good washing/ drying technique nothing else!
yes you can sometimes get them on UK ebay, just look every day. Or you can get it mail order for the States at Autogeek I think I may have seen them at Motorgeek but there are none there at present, try asking him. Good Luck
sorry did'nt say motorgeek is a UK webb site. there is allso lots of info about them on the UK Meguiars site in the forum section, just do a search in the forum.
