Three things I don't like about the new channel design

dude i soooooooooooo HATE the new channels!!!! My channel is new and it wont let me have the old design!! im soooo mad!!! if you ask me, I think the new design is WAY to confusing and fancy . It's not plain out and obvious where all the buttons and stuff are anymore. Now, i have to SEARCH for the button i need. I STILL dont understand the new channels!! its too confusing!! UGH!

He is so right about VLOG. I will not UPDATE because of this lost feature along with, it seems Google's Corporate Buddies are getting all the goodies along with Partner Channels. So what do the people that actually furnish the views that pay for this site get? Not a dam thing, but a kick in the ass and generic cloned 1984 looking channels where you can hardly tell the difference!

I'm spending less and less time on YT than I ever have, when I found out they're forcing YT Channels 2.0 on us!

I like that idea. I'd rather have the channel description top and left and just put the big video player instead of the small one.

It's not as if there weren't enough room to put the large video player on the current page.

I understand all the problems you see. But I guess that as long as the subsriptions link to the normal video page there's no big issue, people will not go to the profile pages until they want to see more of the same user, which is already how it goes.

Hey, I tried out the new design yesterday but reverted back as there were some big issues. But I see you managed to get a backgound image on yours, how did you do it?

Oh, just go to "Themes and colors", you can upload your background there. No problem!

I know that people have a tendency to moan and complain every time YouTube changes the smallest thing but, in this case, I think it's justified.

For those of us who are here for the social networking and user interaction aspect of the site, this new layout doesn't have any practical improvements.

I would prefer that they work on optimizing their network and making their servers more efficient. I have a 10 Mbps Internet connection and the pages and the videos load painfully slowly.

Thanks for your very elaborate comments, Sam! I already thought you'd feel the same way. Appearantly YouTube thinks that everybody on YouTube is here to upload videos. But for you and me (well... me at my Commentorio-channel), the videos are just an extra feature. For us, it's about the social interaction. So I don't have much use for such a big video player on my channel.

I had the same observations as you when I first saw the new channel layout.

When I visit a channel, I'm interested in learning about the person or persons who run the channel before I even watch a video. I also don't like the fact that it plays the video on the channel rather than on the video page for the same reasons as you and also because you don't get to see all the comments and discuss the video and interact with other users and you don't see the description either.

I put the new one up, I don't really like it but at least I won't have to complain about it a second time when they'll change it around for everyone.

The video player is bigger because of the HD playing size.

It reminds me of BlogTV, a lot. I always thought the BlogTV design was too messy.

I didn't notice the blog bit was gone since I never used it. Playlists are still around though.

Thanks Remy! Sure, the playlists are still there, but for me the fun part was being able to add my own little message to a video, to tell people why I like it so much. I really hope YouTube will give this back to us!
