Heres one for you. ABout a year ago i was dumping a 4yd with one of our newways. I got the can above the hopper. Tipped it, went to bring it down and nothing happanded. I got out. Walked around the truck and found that the right side arm cylindar sheeered off and was laying on the ground fully extended. Didnt break any hydo lines. It just broke apart where it mounts to the body. It was fun getting that can off the truck. With the support of one arm doing all the work.
It happens! A good friend of mine has a fab shop and does repairs for BFI and a few others. Those trucks are always in the shop getting something welded or re-built, patches put in the body, new guides, cylinders you name it.. those trucks take a shit kicking no matter the route, BUT that is still no excuse for lack of maintenance and inspection of the trucks to prevent shit from breaking
I feel sorry for the truck and the driver, it wasn't his fault. It was the companies fault for not getting it fixed properly and putting it on the most demanding route!!
I had the same thing happan to me in an STS a few years ago. I was dumping a 6yard full of wood and sawdust. I got it to about mid windshield height and then i heard a crack. The right side of the can fell to the ground. It made for a messed up day.
good to hear from you! hope all is well with you. Yeah, when this was my truck , it used to always crack and break, moreso than normal. The shop should have gotten rid of this one years ago!
I saw in one video in YouTube before, that one rear loader garbage happen two axel twisted so the back tire and axel are all off on street.

I had a front tire blowing up too. I was on the highway doing max speed, but fortunately with an empty rolloff.
That old truck I had was so worn out in the power steering, that I hardly felt it in the steering wheel...
The hole would have been large enough for my hand, except from all those pointy steel wires(!)

Great footage. Good thing there was no fully loaded can above the cab when it broke. That would have been a catastrophe.

At the time it happened, he had a 3yd in the air at a body shop.
