All the diamonds are the same, they have a gradient from light grey at the top to dark grey at the bottom. Look closely. That is why it makes it look like the row of diamonds below is lighter, because it is below the dark half of the ones above.

@lanebaguss14 I drew it w/ pencil and then painted it on the back of a leftover piece of vinyl flooring. I mounted my video camera on a tripod and used its lcd screen to come up with dimensions for the cube. It's anamorphic so that meant a lot of trial and error while drawing it (walking back and forth from the camera to the vinyl and making tons of adjustments until it looked like a perfect 3D cube from that viewing angle). It looks completely different in real life of course.

@slomar0503 Its because the diamonds are lighter at the top and darker at the bottom and the white triangles at the top and the dark at the bottom make your brian think that they are different shade, I think? ;D
