  • brian may and ritchie blackmore my 2 favorite guitarists

  • how could i miss this for so long??? man i was eating glass!

  • Love that video... especially because it was coooold night... ;P

  • Brian is a great guitarist; would recognize his sound anywhere:) But, he really isn't a great singer.

  • @derek47 You've obviously not listened to all the Queen albums then. There are plenty of songs where he sings lead vocals and does it better than Freddie would have done

  • @n654us Actually, I agree with derek47. Although a decent and smooth singer, he really doesn't manage to pull it off live. He is not a trained vocalist and it shows, and in this video as well.

  • QUEEN and RAINBOW best bands EVER EVER EVER EVER AND EVER, FOREVER....

  • great cover thank you!

  • What are you smoking?

  • Great band. The girls sing just great !!!!

  • talk to me brian a major fan or just a mom that loves ya tunes my kids 5... think i am crazy...miss my freddie this is my daughters sight wish ya all would come ta vegas i am here!!

  • Amazing he loosk cool as fuck

  • Brian May's one of the few guys who can pull of singing lead AND playing guitar.

  • great cover of Rainbow!!! :D

  • Wow.

  • AND ONLY ONE COZY POWELL

  • @excudebat 10000000000000000000000000000000000 thumbs up!

  • I always thought Brian had a nice soft voice, and couldn't sing any "Hard songs"...Boy I was wrong.

  • THE best cover of this song... ever made. Simply stunning.

  • brilliant

  • Dude for you and for every one, this isn't a Rainbow song it's just a cover from Russ Ballard (ex- Uriah heep); amazing cover Brian!!

  • not saying that version is bad though

  • my favourite band is queen and my number 1 guitarist is Brian may

but my favourite version of this song is the rainbow version

  • The boobies in the background are awesome

  • @daveshow2 mmm yeah, after copulation they can sing to you, what more could you ask for...

  • @IlRezzonico A blow job?

  • no me gusta la coreografía de las coreutas... pero Brian GENIAL!!!! LO AMO!!

  • I prefer Brian's solo in this to the original to be honest. Yes, they are quite similar but Brian steps it up another level. ^_^

  • Girls in the background are f....g damn GREAT. :) Brian is AMAZING both singing and playing. Great version of great song. Never seen it on the video, although I have the disc. Thanks.

  • only one Ghram Bonett!

  • not even brian can save a not queen solo...

  • They should have played something from the Dio era!!!

  • BACK VOCALS ROCKS!!!

  • this is my absolute favourite version

  • I really don't like Brian May as a singer. I think he should stick to guitar playing.

  • this song was written by Russ Ballard (most famous for being the vocalist/guitarist from Argent) wrote all lot of hits covered by all lot of different bands...

  • fucking tasty, really nice.... awesome !

  • This blows. Graham Bonnet's the only one who should sing this song. This hack Brian May just doesn't have the range.

  • @CuriosityRoads Phil Collins once said, 'im a drummer that sings a bit.' Guess Brian May is a guitarist that 'sings a bit'. Your right Bonnett was the voice for this.

  • @CuriosityRoads Go play under some bridge little troll.

  • @CuriosityRoads I was mad because I though you were serious, then I visited your page, heard Grahams rendition of it and realized how funny it was.

Graham sings like he has a bazooka paving brick in his mouth.

Brian May name is known world over, Graham's not so. Only a few Rainbow songs ever made the charts, how does that compare to Queen? It doesn't.

  • @kutzbill Oh dear, yet another mentally deficient little Queen fanboi.

Graham's voice has the kind of tone, power and range that no member of Queer, not even Freddie himself, could come close to matching.

Brian May is known as a guitarist you dolt, not as a singer. He should stick to guitar because when he tries to vocalise he sounds like Mickey Mouse with a throat infection. Sadly Mercury suffered from the same affliction.

Popularity is irrelevant. Seriously, that's your only argument? Lol.

  • @CuriosityRoads Your so funny, You can't seriously compare Dr. Brian May, The Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University accomplishments to an unknown like Graham. I won’t get into an a argument with a some one who’s argument is “popularity is irrelevant", is that your argument? That is so incredibility silly. Popularity is the whole theme of rock music. Go back under your bridge little troll, and I sincerely hope your mother and father decide to get married in the very near future.

  • @kutzbill I think that the two of you arguing will find all the musicians involved are highly talented - and cozy powell features in both versions =D I grew up knowing the version played by Rainbow and being a huge fan of all that was Queen as a teenager went and saw Brian do a fabulous job of the song live, with my best mate - there is no arguement theyre all awsome =D

  • @misstotalyrandom Actually, there’s no argument here. He has his opinion, and I have mine. We threw a few insults back and forth, but that’s just the way I have a few laughs. Theirs is no possible way I could take his comments seriously, Queen was one of the greatest Rock Bans of the 70’s - 80’s.

Graham has talent in his own way, but you would never find me going on his site and leaving a bad comment about him.

This guy is just trying to get a rise out of someone, I feel pity for him.

  • @kutzbill Have you even heard Graham Bonnet's singing? He is one of the most powerful rock baritones out there. All of the musicians from Queen were/are obviously incredibly talented but so is Graham Bonnet. DO NOT underrate him, the man had incredible voice.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Graham is an excellent singer, I was just pissing off mr potato head.

  • @CuriosityRoads Hey Clown,Freddie was a composer of songs extremely beatifull and deep, and that demanded a lot of work grahan was a good singer, very good (in studio only) you wanna compare the two ??what song grahan composed?just cheesy ,pop rock radio like.basic, poor harmonies that didnt made no one emotioned. if so...i dont know if the songs were made by ritchie or graham or what.I really agree with you as a singer graham was better than freddie .but feddie was a genious miles ahead

  • freddie was one of the creators of a band that invented a stile ,will be forever in the heart of people, not because of the media, but for pure talent.I already told you i till today never found a note from graham that i cant reach practice a little "hiroshima mon amour",jet to jet and ,kree nakakoorie and i'm no one,i'm noting..and if you dont like brian's vocals.roger taylor(queen'sdrummer) is a hell of a singer.would sung this crap easily.and thats not rainbow...rainbow ended when dio left.

  • wtf? Queen guitarist?

  • im thinking that the blonde backing singer closest ot the camera should have worn a bra, it was obviously cold in brixton that night.

  • Oh Jesus Christ - how freakin' damnably COOL is this?!!!!!!!!! Brain May is THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • we were so young.. thin.. the hair was dark.. and I'm only 32! (Hans Moleman moment)

  • the original title is Since You Been Gone, heh -- that sounds silly.. Since You Been Gone, Me So Sad

  • being a huge fan of the rainbow version of this song and likewise a very long standing queen fan i have to admit to being more than a bit worried how it would come out......... but was pleasantly surprised, Brian is no graham bonnet but the addition of the two female vocalists took that issue away, very good !

  • theres a reason you rarely see covers of this song.its one hell of a hard song to sing . may does a great job .

  • Brian is the best!

  • I like how Brian sings this song, and not how Graham Bonnet does...He thinks that he's a pop-type vocalist, but it's the mistake!

  • I think Sir Brian has the greatest tone ever !!!!

  • Argent guitarist Russ Ballard wrote the song. Rainbow recorded the most famous version.

  • i first thought that it was boston, then journey, then a friend of mine told me that it was brian may.... is awesome... long life to Queen!

  • great cover ! and i like especially the backing vocals :) sorry Brian but they are far better than y hahahaha

  • Always thought one of the reasons why Cozy quit Rainbow was because he hated this song so much. Must have been interesting when Brian told him it was on the setlist!!!

  • Always thought one of the reasons why Cozy quit Rainbow was because he hated this song so much. Must have been interesting when Brian told him it was on the setlist!!!

  • Not a bad cover but noone does it better than Graham Bonnet - Ritchie Blackmore - Rainbow

  • Great version of the song and love it that they keep showing the backing singer smuggling peanuts lol!

  • Ok, Head East does "Since You Been Gone", same awesome song, chill peoples:)

  • Brian May is great but.....there is only ONE RITCHIE BLACKMORE !!!!!!

  • Ritchie Blackmore is great but..... there is only ONE BRIAN MAY !!!!!!

  • @greeneggsandham1000 - Brian is a MF-ing legend, that's for sure!!!!!!!

  • @zbr76 OMG!! i know, isn't he just the coolest guy alive

  • @Sojic82 And one Steve Lukather & Richie Sambora ;-))

  • @Sojic82 Ritchie is better but he can't sing ! Brian is Guitar player and SINGER .. :))

  • Singer looks like Silvester Stalone...hahahaha=D

  • @luckastikornet bite me

  • @Bajnep

Just checked the sleeve of this CD - "Since You've Been Gone" it is.

  • @EvilTheMagniff He specifically called it 'you've' cause that's how he sings it, so it's right

  • @EvilTheMagniff its since you been gone - check the original - this is a common misconception

  • @EvilTheMagniff

Bajnep is right, the title of the song is taken from its chorus: Since you been gone, since you been gone I'm outta my head, can't take it Could I be wrong, but since you been gone ...

  • Jesus Bajnap! Take a pill! Don't have a cow over an apostrophe and a couple of letters! The quality is just fine! Not everything from the past can measure up to HD. Thanks for posting Mr. Magniff!

  • Russ Ballard wrote "Since YOU Been Gone" prior to '76. Great song!! IMHO this is the best cover. Wow what a band, great job Brian!

  • It's ironic that Cozy Powell is drumming on this...when he was with Rainbow and they recorded it, he said he hated it.

Love this version..thanks to the nit picker for bringing me back to this video...even if your stupid comment did piss me off !

  • Best version of this song EVER. Brian is the STANDARD.

  • I LOVE YOU BRI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • outstanding

  • Almost as good as Graham....Almost.

  • Omg, aside from Graham, this one from May is the best vocal line i've ever heard :D

  • i always wonder where those chords brian does come from!!! some of them are so difficult to change from a beat to the other that my mind doesn't remember the correct posistion!

    he s the greatest!

  • @diegomacomer You can find it somewhere one u-tube here, but his father played the ukelele/banjo, and Brian transfered the cords to guitar. That explains some of the hand positions.

  • just as good as the original........fantastic i didnt realise brian was as good as this......i would love to see him cover some journey tracks......

  • It would be awesome if he and yngwie played this at g3

  • Brians voice sounds great, and the babes..... !

  • Awesome!

Brian May it's the best guitarrist ever!

    Queen 4ever!

  • Is this Neil Murray on bass ?

BTW.....those two chicks are just stunning ;-)

  • @Leo2000 It's definitely Neil on Bass and the right hand singer is Shelley Preston (who joined Bucks Fizz after Jay Aston left) - and indeed they are stunning. Great performance

  • @Leo2000 It is Neil...fantastic bass player....love his work with Whitesnake.

  • brian covers blackmore? would never believe xD

  • Russ Ballard is a true musical genius, as is Dr. Brian May. Proof of Dr. Mays genius is readily visible ... just the existence of the Red Special, is proof enough for me. Never mind his book, Bang! The Complete History of the Universe. In short, Brian ROCKS.

  • russ ballard - legend

  • Someone wrote that this is cheesy previously? It's not cheesy its definately cheeky, it's rock and roll for God's sake!

    ROCK ON BRIAN THE HERO!

  • Brian May AND Cozy Powell? Too awesome!

  • Bloody brilliant

  • at 3:10 sweet nipple

  • brian may unos de los mas grandes guitarristas no cantantes ja,ja,ja

  • so cheesy.. im embarassed for these guys..all you haters now can reply w/ your lame tired mean replies..ill delete w/o opening..start now.

  • @helmsbarn why? the song's awesome, who cares if its cheesy?

  • wow brian does a fantastic job here well done brian . . . one of my fav non queen songs

  • ha, great cover...

    brian may is the best!

  • i want the backing singers for xmas.

  • The girls were a lot classier than say Britney Spears or Lady Ga Ga!

  • Russ Ballard infected Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May and other guys with this great song.

  • ドラマーがオリジナルと同じコージー・パウエルなのが良い!

  • the chicks are freakin hot!!! song's pretty cool too....

  • I love it, I love it, I love the whole concert and the band! Awesome musicians! Thanks for posting!

  • Graham Bonnet FTW!

  • Keep coming back to this. Just killer.

  • This is awesome!!!! But theres only one thing terribly wrong>>>I wasnt one of those girls......Love you Dr. Bri ♥

  • I keep coming back to this, nearly daily. Awesome tune, and a great cover with wonderful musicians---especially Dr. May. I love his guitar playing; it is never boring. Tight band, the girls are great (vocals, choreography, outfits, everything). This song just makes me feel like I'm 25 again (long ago), full of piss and vinegar. Good rock 'n roll for the sake of good rock 'n roll, ya know ? Thanks SO much for posting this !!! Peace:-)

  • brian may ftw this is cool

    i love this song!!!

  • I clicked thumbs down I meant thumbs up! I'd take it back if I could!

  • happens to me all the time

  • RIP Cozy.

  • I think the camera-operators give too much credit to those lustful lasses and their...eyes. :D

    Really great performance.

  • One of them was/is in Bucks Fizz

  • @rbaleksandar In this song they have a great role and they rock too. The director has also many rights to do so... BTW,great Brian and great Cozy(R.I.P.).

  • Isn't that Chris De Garmo (Queensryche) on rhythm guitar?

  • @rickenbicken I believe that's Jamie Moses. He's in the new line-up also with Queen + Paul rodgers.

    Cheers, Mini May

  • @rickenbicken I believe that's Jamie Moses. He's in the new line-up also with Queen + Paul Rodgers.

    Cheers, Mini May

  • @MiniMay99 Oops! He was in that line-up when Q+PR were still together.

  • @rickenbicken I believe that's Jamie Moses. He's in the new line-up also with Queen + Paul Rodgers.

    Cheers, Mini May

  • I never thought any one could play this song better than Ritchie Blackmore. I was wrong,

Dr. Brian May rules at life.

  • Great cover with great sounding vocals. The girls looked dam happy to be there.

  • 3:24 Side of boob haha

  • nice nipples

  • Awesome COver and the Chicks are hot :-D

  • You know I had doubts about clicking this link and I shouldn't have, it was great. And the two two chick singers where great!

  • 1) I could watch Brian May play guitar all day long.

    2) Neil Murray on bass is always a pleasure.

    3) The two blonde babes should have started to make out during the cut time part in the middle.

  • Great song. May gave his magical touch to it. Cozy is my favorite drummer. This show is very good, I have the cd. The song Ressurrection is the most powerful, Cozy's solo is fantastic.

  • and he thought he was a poor singer BRIAN MAY FOR KING

    -BEST MUSICIAN EVER

  • Man, Brian May is a genius. Nice Rainbow's version cover.

  • The original song is from Russ Ballard. Rainbow's version is a cover... a very good cover.

  • Yeah, I know. That's why I wrote "Rainbow's version cover".

  • Well, almost better!

  • Seventiesclassic you speak spanish, i don't knew it hahaha

  • Thank you so very much for uploading this....one of my all-time fave songs, and done so very well by Brian and his band (never knew he did a cover of it). Peace:-)

  • cosy was simply awesome, but to say he played with purple is simply sacrilege, paicey is irreplaceable...rainbow,msg,whitesnake,..these bands had him. salute to you seventies classic

  • Good, but disappointed on how this turned out. Rainbow made the better version. Sorry Brian.

  • What a performance of a fab song and what a line up in the band, Neil Murry on Bass (of Whitesnake), the late Cozy Powell ( of Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Rainbow), and Spike Edney on the keyboards and of course BM on guitar and vocals - wow what a sound.

  • Cozy Powell in Deep Purple...?

    No way Jose'.

    Don't bother to argue..you're wrong.

Oh and it's Neil MURRAY....NOT Murry.

  • was there years and years ago, one of the best concerts ever, frankfurt am main, jahrhunderthalle, germany, support was robby valentine. all other bm concerts never again were so fu*king good.

  • Great Brian!

  • Very nice !! I'm a longtime Queen & Rainbow fan; didn't know that BM had recorded solo LPs and toured to support them. Honestly, I would have expected this to be something of a "hot mess". Not becoz BM is any less of a guitarist than Blackmore; they're in the same league, and some Queen fans might argue BM's better. But mainly becoz I didn't think he could pull off the lead vocals, esp to a Bonnet-era Rainbow cover. He does, with aplomb !! (Tho the hot backing blondes don't hurt ! :-)

  • Brian's voice at it's top - just luv him there!

  • I love this song...performance is great

  • This is amazing, Brian may has a great voice. well he was a backing vocalist in the greatest band of all time. Strange tho how he doesnt sing the first two choruses but he does sing the final one which is in a higher key.Perhaps he is just showing off lol. the chorus is a peice of work to sing mind...

  • I think because the first 2 choruses iare in his his "change notes" and had more difficulties than in the last one....

  • To say Brian May was a backing vocalist in Queen, is just an insult..he co wrote many and sang lead on many of Queen's songs.

Not to mention, his guitar was an integral part of Queen's sound.

    Show some respect...please.

  • an insult it would be if I had idead said "he was just a backing vocalist". But if you quote me directly this is not what i said. Perhaps I should of said, brian may a backing singner, co writer, lead singer and lead guatarist of the greatest band of all time,I meant no disrespect, sorry if you took it that way. I was only trying to express my appreciation of him singing this very hard song!I have the greatest respect to all rock legends,no matter what their respective role were in their band.

  • Ok..now you're talking.

  • Also the songs he wrote were some of the best. sail away sweet sister, '39, good company

  • @grimchain and well will rock you, tie your mother down, its late, brighton rock

  • @seventiesclassic totally agreed

  • @seventiesclassic Co wrote? He wrote just as much (possibly even more) of their material as Freddie did! It's just that Freddie had more #1:s
