I think it is the bow and violin. But if you want to know which is more important I would say the bow, and strings.

Would you say that that delightful rich sound is more down to the body or the strings?

Or even the bow?

hey thanks! ok, first of all, i'm only 15, my brother's 16. we're definately amateurs too, so i can't really answer with much authority, but here it goes. Body or strings? body first; strings definately make a difference, but if the violins not carved properly forget it. bow--definately, big time. but body first :D ps: i predict you'll learn to play the cello in the next 12 months lol
