This is pretty tight condidering these guys are getting kind of long in the tooth. I wish I could find footage of this lineup from '77. They only created one of the best live albums of all time, that's all.
Vinnie (just like his brother) show go back to his giant yellow Ludwigs instead of these DWs or whatever they are. They sound too small.
thought i saw rick back in the early 70's, but since this song came out in '76, i guess i saw him in '76 at the whiskey -a-go-go in hollywood. what really sticks in my mind is that on one point on this song, the three guitar players started dancing around like spinning tops. back in those days, you could drop the door man a a few bucks and he would seat you in a great location. he put us in one of the personel boxes. we were looking straight down on the band with no one in blocking our view!
I saw these guy do this in 1977 at Maple Leaf Gardens, warming up for Aerosmith. Threw BC Rich's back and forth to each other during the solo. It was pretty cool!
(Joe Perry had to sit down for a lot of his stuff. Bad time for him.)
Rick Derringer's body of work speaks for itself. Great songwriter, very talented guitarist, solid singer, and an all around nice guy. Met him at the Catamaran in San Diego after a show. Thanks for all the great music Rick! His bday is 8-5-47 - 61 tommorrow.
