I wouldn't be able to answer that question, because it depends on how fast your hair grows, and how much it appears to be shrinking because of the locking process. It will shrink perhaps a few inches when it locks completely...but there is no way to tell you precisely how long. :-P

DreadheadHQ misleads a lot of people and gives false information, and you will find that out down the line, if you actually care. I use Prell Classic, Baking Soda, sometimes Apple Cider Vinegar, and starting to try out Selson Blue(for dandruff issues). And congratulations, i'm glad you wash four days a week. @nicoskaterdude yeah man I've been using Prell as of lately, and it has helped with dandruff somewhat, but it still comes back after a few days, so I have yet to figure out a solution to the dandruff thing...However I don't walk around with flakes showing thank goodness, I'll usually check it before heading out for the day or whenever I take a trip to the bathroom. @nicoskaterdude And with the forming of the locks, if it looks and feels to you that some of the sections are forming together into larger locks that are becoming too big, find the hairs that are bridging one lock from another(the ones you don't want to form with it), and gently pull them out of the lock it's bridging to. @eyeheartchrist i think you kinda missed on the music genre thing. the main reason for categorizing music, or at least the reason that makes sense to me, is for convenience. for instance, if there were 100 artists, all different genres, all on one list. say your looking for a death metal band. on this list death metal makes up 1% of the total music. would you rather search through the list one artist at a time, or type in death metal and have that one band pop up, saving tonnes of time?

@happybuddyperson Sometimes, but that might just mean it's really cleaning your scalp. I deal with dandruff almost everyday, but I always have and it's no big deal just gotta look in the mirror every now and then. :-)

if a person dilutes it, then it could be used, but if a person would use it straight out of the bottle then it takes a while for it to rinse out completely. I've used it before and it took a while for it rinse out, and I think I ended up doing a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse soon enough later.

@happybuddyperson It's gonna be a while, seriously. I just moved out last week and I don't have the resources to do the entire process, as in recording it on an analog 8mm camcorder, converting it over to a dvd or interface card(which I have neither), working on it, and then posting. :-P
@rastasandgroper First I wet it, then with the bar I scrub around the base of each lock, massaging that area until it seems like that's good. Rinse it well. If each lock feels squeaky clean, then I've got everything clean. So obviously the soap runs into the locks, not sudsy like it was on the scalp, do therefore it's already rinsed completely. :-)

I probably won't be able to for a while considering I am moving and I won't have a recorder to convert the video from the camcorder I'm using. I do have a 28 month video recorded but it needs recopied because the DVD+R that I copied it onto is unfamiliar to my computer. :-P

Personally I like to use bar soap because it's easier to touch every area of the scalp, but that may be just me being better with bar soap. Apple Cider Vinegar is used best diluted(half water half acv). Slowly pour it on your head, massaging the scalp while applying it. Leave it for 15-25 minutes at best, then rinse it out then dry. You should only use it once a month at best. :-)

I am growing my hair right now for my second set of locks. At this point my hair is about 5-6 inches long. How much longer does it need to be before I start seeing some locking going on. Also I watched your videos and it seems you switched what you washed your hair with, sorry if I am incorrect, but at this time what do you suggest I wash mine with. My hair texture is exactly like yours if that means anything... I backcombed my first set but I like your method better
It's uncertain what length you'll see it start showing progress, but I know that after 1.5 years it started to show progress! Everyone's hair is different so yeah....I wash with Dr. Bronner's soap and do Apple Cider Vinegar rinses on occasion. :-)

@charleeinwonderland I think you can, because there is nothing to it! Locks are meant to be grown long and for long periods, as in 10+ years, unlike most that cut or comb out within 3.

if a person dilutes it, then it could be used, but if a person would use it straight out of the bottle then it takes a while for it to rinse out completely. I've used it before and it took a while for it rinse out, and I think I ended up doing a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse soon enough later.

how do u use the bar soap with washing ur dreads i finally found the all one dr. bronners magic soap do u mix it with water or wat ? chheers man!!

@rastasandgroper First I wet it, then with the bar I scrub around the base of each lock, massaging that area until it seems like that's good. Rinse it well. If each lock feels squeaky clean, then I've got everything clean. So obviously the soap runs into the locks, not sudsy like it was on the scalp, do therefore it's already rinsed completely. :-)

you could have just tied it in a pony tail when u go to school. I had the same problem in grade 9 but my mom told him if its a pony tail there is nothing he can do about it. So he stopped bothering me. Now im 20 and i dont have dreads because they are annoying as hell

Personally I like to use bar soap because it's easier to touch every area of the scalp, but that may be just me being better with bar soap. Apple Cider Vinegar is used best diluted(half water half acv). Slowly pour it on your head, massaging the scalp while applying it. Leave it for 15-25 minutes at best, then rinse it out then dry. You should only use it once a month at best. :-)

I am growing my hair right now for my second set of locks. At this point my hair is about 5-6 inches long. How much longer does it need to be before I start seeing some locking going on. Also I watched your videos and it seems you switched what you washed your hair with, sorry if I am incorrect, but at this time what do you suggest I wash mine with. My hair texture is exactly like yours if that means anything... I backcombed my first set but I like your method better

It's uncertain what length you'll see it start showing progress, but I know that after 1.5 years it started to show progress! Everyone's hair is different so yeah....I wash with Dr. Bronner's soap and do Apple Cider Vinegar rinses on occasion. :-)
