This reminds me more of the stuff in Accident of birth than the tracks from Chemical wedding. It's great, don't get me wrong! But I don't think it would work within the album.
which is also similar to Dio's "Kill the king" etc.. many metal songs have this very common riff as a basis. My personal opinion is that it all started from Rory Gallagher's "Moonchild", and I also think that his style matches Adrian's, thus I am not surprised if he is influenced. Yet I am NOT implying he copied, after all both "2 minutes to midnight" and the "king" are so special and fucking GOOD and original!
Hye, does anybody else recognise the part of the solo from 3.27 to 3.33? I know! iv heard it from some other song, some amazing song that i love, but cannot for the life of me place it, any help would be appreciated, thanks :).
Avenged Sevenfold have the same kind of solo in their album Avenged Sevenfold. Can't remember the song, maybe Little Piece of Heaven or Critical Acclaim
itd be like a psuedo-metaphor in effect cos its obviously talkin about king arthur, as you can tell by the metioning of uther pendragon, his father, but i guess it could be seen as his coming to the throne of metal again.
Propably Bruce wouldn't consider himself a king :D Most likey just bout King Arthur and the legend of him returning someday when Britain is in turmoil
lol i think the songs actually about king arthurs mythical return to the throne as king, and i realised that cos his fatther is mentioned: Uther Pendragon. thats Arthurs father. pretty good a book called the legends of arthur, a book that chronicles the ages of arthur and the knights of the round table. :)
THAT IS a FUCKING AWESOME track with one of the best Adrian's riffs and remarkable solos by both RoyZ and Smith.. I thing that this is an underestimated song and I cannot understand why
Great instrumental part in the middle of the song.

Its Return of the King, meaning Bruce is returing to his throne in Iron Maiden, this was his last album, then he joined Maiden again.
melizavazquez 2 years ago
He's still planning on releasing solo albums. His last one, Tyranny of Souls, was released in 2005 if you didn't know.

I know it doesn't fit in conceptually with the rest of the album, but this song is just too damn good to be a Japan-only bonus track.
Taegtgren 3 years ago 41
@Taegtgren - I would argue that, the return of the king has everything to do with the album conceptually, you might even say its a summary
