@pielover8888 Minecraft tends to use about 900-1g on my machine, thats 1/3 of my memory capacity. If you only have 512, its going to use even less. Get a considerably larger amount of ram and the process will be stable.

I run windows, and after not reboot (I reboot like once a month) for a while it runs out of vram, at that point minecraft starts to crash. Your probably experiencing something similiar

@subfuzion well kinda but i get a SOLID 9 or more fps once and a while down to 3 but RIGHT back up. i reboot every day my brothers comp (6 gb ram, 3.5 ghz) reboots only 55 times. a what gyess what? A YEAR. Yeah. its got linux on it. 6 gb ram? *smashes thru wall* OHHHH YEAAAAH and u can make room for more virtual memory :D so i would do that if i was ur wolf!

@pielover8888 The fps choking could be your ram or your video card. Save up some money, my 256 cost $10 off newegg during a sale. Ram is getting pretty cheap as well. I've got my vram kicked up high enough, its just windows is shit.

I would most definatly run linux, though as much as I love it I can't justify ditching the large and superior gaming options available under windows, least as far as free gaming goes. Used debian sarge exclusively for a year and a half in high school, sucked :/

@subfuzion possibly but i dont mind it choking, im glad i have a comp that can play it at all. infact the one im using now, gets a solid 5-7 fps with chokes. Its a tc1100 tablet :D

@subfuzion also, it has 1.2 ghz, 512 ram and in offline mode RENDER=FAR SMOOTH LIGHTING ON FANCY GRAPHICS. this thing kicks BEEP in offline mode but with opera browser the internet speed acts like 6 mbs and its only 5mbs.. LOL

Hit about that smooth point of 25fps in games and you'll never want to go back, hit 60, and you'll drool

@pielover8888 Are you playing "online mode" within a browser? Because I get around 5 fps in browser, and generally consider it a junk way to play haha.

And creepers are probably the easiest mob to kill with fists, hardest being those flying things in the nether lol.

In general though, the mob ai is stupidly simple. Biggest curve ball from notch has been slight radial pathing on creepers that was added-.-

@subfuzion online mode is in teh downloaded version connected to minecraft net thats what i mean if i play within browser i get 3 fps. solid never up never down just 3 fps. exactly 3 fps all teh time. not even chokes tho lol. on a train that didnt have wifi i played mc in offline mode like it was the yogscast comp it was that good... lol 70 fps or more render=far smooth lightiing on, and graphics at fancy...
