It's funny to think how things haven't moved on. Particle systems are implemented in vary similar ways today, separated only really by masses of extra horsepower.
Forgot to mention, I change the speed twice to progressively slow down the update speed so you can take a closer look. There's source code and a bootable Prodos image on my homepage for anyone who wants to play with this. It looks best on a real GS. Especially from about 10 or more feet away. :)

Nice :-) Just started to look at the apple IIGS myself. Coming from the C64 6502 assembler it's quite easy to jump into the apple architecture.
