  • A band I met YEARS ago, when I was 17, introduced me to this band and to the Mothers of Invention. My life hasn't been the same since. All I learned in life I learned from musicians of all kinds....The Fugs were the band I wanted at my high school graduation...but I never went to it...besides, I doubt if they would have been the band to play. So when all the other kids in school were doing whatever they did. I listend to the Fugs, read Allen Gingsburg book HOWL and listened to the Mothers.

  • "how are you fixed for blades?" - - how long has it been since gilette used that slogan in their ads?

  • These are the guys Mel Brooks made fun of in 'The Producers' (original version with Zero Mostel and Gene whatshisname....

    A great band!

  • music to listen to while reading Zap comix.

  • I still have a bunch of friends that can sing this song (poorly) but word for word. and maybe 4 or 5 more Fugs songs. The "FUGS" were very well known to a relatively small group of folks, but with in that community they were very well known.

  • RIP Tuli Kupferberg

  • No one makes a really good offensive song the way the Fugs did. Even today try singing the words out loud on a bus or on a subway. But in 1965 -1966 ... wow! No respecter of the PC

" I'm never going to Viet Nam

I prefer to stay right here and a screw your mom"

    or this verse:

    "I don't even hear them

Because I'm high and I'm getting almost as much pussy as the spades"

  • @TamarZucker How's about Coca Cola Douche "My baby ain't got no money, but her snatch it-a tastes like-a honey". Too great haha!

  • Thanks for the Edvard Greig reference. There was something about the beginning, but I couldn't quite place it.

  • The piano intro to this song is actually the beginning of norwegian composer Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor!
