A band I met YEARS ago, when I was 17, introduced me to this band and to the Mothers of Invention. My life hasn't been the same since. All I learned in life I learned from musicians of all kinds....The Fugs were the band I wanted at my high school graduation...but I never went to it...besides, I doubt if they would have been the band to play. So when all the other kids in school were doing whatever they did. I listend to the Fugs, read Allen Gingsburg book HOWL and listened to the Mothers.
I still have a bunch of friends that can sing this song (poorly) but word for word. and maybe 4 or 5 more Fugs songs. The "FUGS" were very well known to a relatively small group of folks, but with in that community they were very well known.
you need to go back to the door....the one that is for you not the doors you cant handle or ever understand ...go home and have mom make pancakes, its a wicked wild world little boy
No one makes a really good offensive song the way the Fugs did. Even today try singing the words out loud on a bus or on a subway. But in 1965 -1966 ... wow! No respecter of the PC
" I'm never going to Viet Nam
I prefer to stay right here and a screw your mom"
or this verse:
"I don't even hear them
Because I'm high and I'm getting almost as much pussy as the spades"
Crystal liason forever! I remember when they were playin the Cafe au Go Go in the Village, New York City! "In the great bowling alleys of your mind...."

Stupid lyrics and concepts for such a good song. What a waste!

Thanks for the Edvard Greig reference. There was something about the beginning, but I couldn't quite place it.

The piano intro to this song is actually the beginning of norwegian composer Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor!
