It would be great that, if this second season was another success, Madhouse thought about animating other Fukumoto works as well. Perhaps Kurosawa would be too risky for an anime because his target audience is much smaller than a thriller like Kaiji or Akagi, but Buraiden Gai is definitely an option they should take into account.

Agreed, Kurosawa was amazing. It managed to be incredibly funny while keeping Fukumoto's characteristically pessimistic tones and dark themes in the spotlight. There was something very human about this work and I have to say that reading it was for me an unique experience. And I swear, a little part of me died with the ending...

Do you remember when he found that toddler in the first or second volume and he was imagining his life raising the kid as his son? That got me almost as bad as the ending. I'm a sucker for kids, man.

Kurosawa was so enjoyable I binged it in one sitting. The same happened with the 2nd series of Kaiji, but I think at one point all of the dialog boxes merged together and I developed some sort of Fukumoto-instilled dyslexia that night.

I actually find that very hard because S1 kicked too serious ass, but hey, it's Fukumoto-sensei we're talking about. Kaiji, Akagi, Kurosawa, Buraiden Gai... All were utterly awesome works so I'm sure he only IMPROVES with the pass of time.

I think the whole concept of Kaiji is how the "Slave" can overcome the "Emperor" (Like we saw in the E Card arc) and that ending didn´t really satisfy the story´s main purpose. In the finale of season 1 its shown that he lost not because of its "limitations" but before he relied on someone else when his scheme was caught (That somebody else being "God"), Kaiji knew that he needs to trust only him. Hopefully in season 2 he will get revenge for his fallen comrades.
