Ascendancy- Metalcore with a heavy thrash influence

The Crusade- Melodic Thrash Metal

Shogun- Thrash metal with a bit of Melodic Death Metal

@yankedup Shogun sounded like it had alot of Children of Bodom influences in it. I think every band comes out with a 'controversial album'. and i think that was The Crusade. Its tolerable, but I dont listen to it out of choice. Ascendency is arguably a top ten metal album of the decade. never was to high on ember.

Melodic metal was there before trivium wrote any stuff that could even be considered representative of their sound. You're deluded. let it go.

Matt's screaming isnt really worse than it used to be its just a lot different. His vocals are sooooo much more diverse now. He has his raspy James Hetfield singing, his clean singing (which has improved drastically), you have his growl scream, his normal scream (old trivium scream), his reeeeally deep scream, and then you have his Guns and Roses sounding high pitched scream. I mean during ascendancy, you only had his normal scream and clean vocals. Much more diverse

The lyrics on the crusade were written extremely poorly that is why many people don't like it. The guitar riffs did become more technical though. I personally like Matt's screaming and that wasn't featured much on the crusade.
