Beyonce is good but her version is HORRIBLE you can hear her take breaths after each line and it doesn't come close to Des'rees version. Some songs should just be left alone and NOT remade and this is one of them.

Beyoncé made no attempt to hide that fact (although she didn't have proper permission to do this cover either, so she's not perfectly innocent). Props to Des'ree for writing this, but I've gotta be honest, I like Beyonce's version better. People put way too much emphasis on "nothing beats the original" when this is--in many cases--not true at all. People feel like rooting for the underdog and hating on world-class superstars makes them more "knowledgeable and cultured."
I think Des'ree focuses too hard on the technique and structure of her voice, whereas B's sounds more effortless and emotional, yes she still maintains perfect control.

this is kissing you by Des'ree, from the movie Romeo and Juliet, starring Leanardo De Caprio, and Claire Danes. Don't belive me? Listen to it. The song in the move came out in 1996. I like this version too, but it is by Des'rre.

@misspurplerox213 Yeah. It's a cover, or a sample, or whatever you want to call it, lots of artists do it and it's perfectly legal. Beyoncé made no attempt to hide that fact (although she didn't have proper permission to do this cover either, so she's not perfectly innocent). So it's no news to anyone that this song was Des'ree's originally.

I think Des'ree sued Beyonce because her version was waaaay better and she become sick with jealousy, because I don't get how can you allow someone to cover your song and later sue them with such a silly excuse like they changed the title (despite the original title is still there in brackets).

Props to Des'ree for writing this, but I've gotta be honest, I like Beyonce's version better. People put way too much emphasis on "nothing beats the original" when this is--in many cases--not true at all. People feel like rooting for the underdog and hating on world-class superstars makes them more "knowledgeable and cultured."
I think Des'ree focuses too hard on the technique and structure of her voice, whereas B's sounds more effortless and emotional, yes she still maintains perfect control.
