Didn't realize the I & IIs made up such a large chunk of the German armour so late into the war. I couldn't imagine driving one of these little tanks deep into Russia. It makes me respect German fighting tactics all the more.
pretty weird how from the begging of the war Germany had tanks the size of a car, and by the end they had tanks the sizes of a truck or bus and 10 times thicker and more powerful
@SomeGuyOnYouuTube Well at the start they went with less armor and smaller faster tanks to take over other countrys than later in the war they needed bigger heavier tanks to defend the homeland thats one reason and another the USA had to bring tanks across a ocean they could bring 80 ton tanks
I think that there were psychological reasons, too. In the beginning light tanks were good, because Verseille hadn't allowed any at all. After the severe defeats in Russia and Africa, Hitler needed to compensate with increasingly heavier tanks. Especially the fact that the "subhuman" slavs had something like T-34 meant the "superhuman" aryans had to build even bigger ones. I think much of Hitler's action was much more emotional than reasonable.

Despite the thin armor and weak armament those little tanks had spunk.

One of the best series about WW 2 - the footage from prewar to Barborossa was fantastic.
