Fuck what anybody says: This tradition is the best and the way of life. This is the whole religion of the world that never used forceful convertion for anybody. All it does is protecting its people. Forceful convertion I mean, Christianity and Islam are guilt of that. You might not like it anyway, but this is the current anthem now.
Good job y mientras el mundo sea mundo la gente van a criticar lo hagas bien o mal, todos somo diferentes, keep up the good job, kep getting better don't listen to haters that's their job to hate. maferefun yemaya todos los dias
Let me guess... Women in your TRIBE do Ifa too? We didn't make this up people, the africans did. We weren't supposed to put it upon ourselves to EDIT our traditions. You are comercializing our religion and that's where we are ALL going wrong. Have a lil bit more respect for people that actually mount saints and dance tambores correctly! Or at least have respect for the actual saints. Que Olofi los perdone!
I probably don't know enough to comment here, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't there precedent in the African ways for that? I thought that on occasion They had been known to appear in forms of either gender, or to ride a recipient of the opposite gender if the need presented itself.
@omiara77 " You are comercializing our religion and that's where we are ALL going wrong. Have a lil bit more respect for people that actually mount saints and dance "
Hello i think that the dancer tried very hard but did not do in actuality what the drums or the singer is saying???????? but the effort was cute! next time learn where the marking for turning and steps belong but really appreciate the effort as a yemaya son that i am, that yemaya bless you and your talents. hope to see next video mastering!!!!! i found quite odd a female playing the drums which i also think is very talented but incorrect but played lovely.....
I feel like I need to repeat myself in saying that Orisha appreciate our efforts in representing them. There was NOTHING disrepectful about your performance! You all showed your love for Ocha through dance and song. What could be wrong with that? Don't worry about the comments. If your intent was to be respectful then that's ALL that matters.
Yeah, totally. Thanks for your lovely post. I wasn't referring to your words at all. with all due respect, to you, all of you (except some minor dickheads) and to all living & spiritual things... Merecumbé
Criticism, criticism... you guys haven't really heard of words like 'well-balanced' - 'constructive' or such, have you?! ... I can only repeat myself - many people liked it, many still do, many criticize(d) (constructively)... comments like some below are just no use at all. But thanks anyways. Sandro
what is up with this dancer... i hope she was getting payed because she will need the money for better Orisha dance lessons. that goes for singers too.
I felt that the Yemaya dancer had a lot of energy. She may not have been techically on the mark at times but she worked it out in a small space and tried to represent Yemaya. As humans we tend to be overly critical but Orisha appreciate out efforts. Keep on dancing. Orisha dance is a prayer to Orisha and good for the soul.
Where is Yemaya in this video, I don`t see her. I see a very skinny woman( legend states that Yemaya is a thick woman) doing a bad job of dancing Yemoja`s dance. Yemaya does not live here. One of these days a spirit will come down , and you will not know how to handle it.Only people that are actually practicing orisha should do what you do. Be careful, you are playing with fire.
I cherish your comment and your concern about well-being. You're right about the 'largeliness' of Yemayá (as it is delivered) ... but I haven't seen many performances featuring obese dancers (neither in Cuba [Conjunto Folklorico, ISA, Theatro Nacional] nor elsewhere). Cheerio
Thanks, bro - you're one good critic ;) ... by the way: our leader (the guy who sings) has studying / publishing books on descarga punto com about afro-cuban rhythms and chants for about 30 years ;) ... so it's only us dancers who (partially) suck - and I'm a Salsa / HipHop dancer (and Swiss) ... so: way to go
(5) see (1): we seem to live in a very negative world... pinpoint the negative points (which may be there) but altogether ignore/not mention the positive ones - A Big HOORAY 2 THAT!
like I've already written in the "Oggún" video. It's so easy to criticize. (1) show me another group that gets the lyrics and toques as straight as we do / (2) we sure aren't the best dancers out there - but we sure made and still make an effort / (3) spectators (many of which were CUBANS) really enjoyed and respected the show, which may count as much as your honored opinion / (4) Show me something groundbreakingly better 1st! /
So for your group it's about being ground-breaking? You do realize you're just taking sacred elements of worship and putting them on a stage and stripping them of all inherent value? There are plenty of Anya groups in the world which play better - and do so because they're actually worshipping Orisha; not just mimicking that worship on a stage to be ground-breaking.
hmmm... la verdad es: no fue su mejor día - eso lo pasa a todos nosotros - pero es una bailarina del ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte, Cuba) (ENGLISH: Truth is: it wasn't her best day - that happens to all of us - but she's a professionaly trained dancer from the ISA)
que falta respeto!!! cuando yemaya se vaje no se baile asi!!! a esa mujer se le parece que tiene un tic nerviouso!! que es eso!! que falta de respeto! perdon a esa mujer mama!
