  • Hello there! Have you read the amazon book Public Speaking for Frankenstein ? I got some useful advice from it and was able delivered a show without nervousness.

  • fuck you for this marketing scheme, wasting 4 minutes of my time this did not help at all.

  • thanks. that's all

  • when goin up the stage, all the negative feeling pumps in, a voice in my head will keep saying bad thing

  • She's so warm and inviting...I want her to be my teacher

  • i liked that much,it make me feel confident

  • Laura - this is great! If you can get people over their fear of speaking, I can teach them how to promote their business through speaking - I'm just starting to make tips for my Youtube channel too. Really looking foward to hearing more from you.

  • It's really hard to not fear public speaking in business presentations especially when you know 30min later they're going to attack you with generalisations/ figures you have made. What do I about that? Please help!

  • I hate it when people say stuff like "take energy"; what hell hell are you talking about? I mean, there is nothing in science that has any relevance at all to what you're talking about. Unless you're talking about heat energy but I don't see how that affects your performance.

  • i cant get over it, & I just know when i have to give a presentation or just read something in class that it will be bad. my fear is public speaking & just reading aloud for my class. i just freeze up & most of the time i cant get words out of my mouth. then ppl look over thinking, "why isnt she reading.." & to make it worse im a big reader, so I have a wide vocab of words, but when i have to read aloud it seems i cant pronounce words, but I can. i hear myself saying it in my head,

  • Yeah , It`s really hard tough But the main point is to overcome it and in overcoming that where i fell , it`s like that , i just can`t do it , i don`t have the courage to overcome that fear/phobia even though that it is the important matter , It`s like the title of a song [ can`t fight this feeling ] Do you Feel that too Guys :D ,If You , then your not alone, What can you say about that few things in myself, Thanks

  • I think we have different, but equally useful tactics!

  • too bad, the fear of public speaking i can't get over it, i juz don't like it, the fear of not being able to speak up at all due to increase heart rate and breathing rate, uncontrollable factors

  • @ncs2000 Yes, those conditions will happen. Your heart rate and breathing rate will increase, but even if you cannot control that there is one thing that you can control: your attitude. Remember that feeling for just a second, and then remember the last time you felt really overjoyed and excited about something. You'll notice that you get that same increased heart rate and breathing rate when you are really excited about something. Knowing this, you can practice making that energy positive.

  • I want a British accent when I speak in public just cause it sounds more PROFESSIONAL :)

  • This is just stupid. I had to read out about 4 sentances today in front of the class, and halfway through I was shaking and had a wobbly voice. I hate it so much, and I dont understand why I get so nervous because there is no reason to be

  • @nobodypersonsomeone At least you don't choke up to the point where you can't utter a word. I remember having to read in front of class in HS and completely choked up, and it happened every time I had to. Extremely embarrassing.

  • @nino0057 No that does happen to me as well. Its horrible.

  • Hi Laura, nice video. I've seen you speak before and I loved your story - very engaging. In fact, I have uploaded some interactive speaking training videos on my channel. Let me know what you think... Cheers! Tom

  • There are some actually good tips here. I've been searching for other ways to overcome fear of public speaking and found a free report on this website. Its pretty cool. Check it out. I dont think Youtube allows me to post links so i'll have to show it to you in this format:

    publicspeakingformula[dot]com

  • Agreed, though it is better to be trained not to be anxious in the first place.

  • @JustBeWell you did not explain that you gain energy out of attention of so many people focussed at you

  • @JustBeWell you did not explain that HOW you gain energy out of attention of so many people focussed at you

  • Stay positive. While it is easier said than done, staying positive during an attack will speed up your recovery. Let the situation flow while keeping in mind that it will going to pass. An attack peaks for 5 to 10 minutes and rarely extends for more than half an hour so do not think that you are going crazy (or going to die) even if it feels that you are going crazy (or going to die).

  • i had to make a presentation today in the class, i cant describe how bad it was, because of my stupid social phobia, i actually forgot evrything i wanted to say

  • @22creepy and that is whats going to happen to me. :( i have to give a 25 min presentation about a topic of Physics the Cosmos...plus 10 mins for questions. im more than terrified.. i have social phobia too and im extremely shyy uughhh

  • @Anae420 I feel your pain, trust me.

  • I use to love speaking in public, and I don't even know when I began to freak out, I can't do it anymore. As much as a try , I get sooo nervous, I try to avoid it as much as possible.

  • @lachikibaby03 omg same here i went from being the most confident person to being so shy like i can hardly answer the questions my prof asks in class

  • It makes me really happy to hear that I'm not alone. I used to be really confident and could sing a solo in front of the school, dance, act, read speeches etc. Then for some reason I realised that everyone was staring at me, and even today it still really freaks me out and I get nervous.

  • its good, but at the same time, the best thing to do if you're really scared of public speaking is to joing TOASTMASTERS. It's a safe place to make mistakes and to overcome your fears.

it's not easy overcoming public speaking fears, i used to be terrified, but now i can do it without too much bother. check out my blog: type in overcomepublicspeakingfears to google

  • I also have a fear of public speaking, but I have done some video on youtube which is improving my confidence in it.

Even when I did my video's I was a little nervous, check them out and see how I sound, JJ markets and MBK shopping are 2 that I am speaking in.

I think you should try and do a screen cast or video of yourself (with noone around) upload it and see yourself speaking. It works wonders, I can't get up infront of 20 people yet I don't think, but I think I am getting better.

  • just watching this video makes me nervous

  • I don't know how to stop my voice shaking. I know my stuff, I can joke with people and I can sit around a board room table and drive the meeting. Get me in a public style forum and my voice shakes. How do I stop that?

  • @jodier100 Hi Jodier100 - I thought I would just check in and I saw your post. To stop your voice shaking you need to pump more air through. It is a lack of breath that causes the shaky voice. Take big deep breaths into the bottom of your lungs and top up often as you speak. I hope that helps

  • i have to do a speech bout global warming in front of like 500 people and im only 11 eep

  • I'm so f'd up. When she says we imagine the crowd as unapproving, harsh, etc, I can't even claim that. Of all things about me, I get more compliments about my voice than everything else combined. People are always telling me they love my deep voice, that I should work in radio etc..happens all the time. Speaking should be my most confident and proud event, yet it's my worst fear in life. Messed up.

  • @JMJ4ever Hi there, Laura here, how are you doing your fear then? If you imagine a friendly crowd, hearing your voice rich and strong and you see yourself standing there having fun how do you scare yourself? There must be something you say to yourself of one of the pictures in your mind that are more scary. But then maybe you are not scared at all! Maybe you are having fun! No? How do you know..... if I could talk to you I could fix this fast, but maybe reading this will do it :-)

  • i am so so nervous and this video is encouraging . its good

  • i have phobia from crowded places like malls and markets :(

  • this makes me feel way better :)

  • She has a James Bond book sitting on her shelf...and she has a British accent. Way to go, Moneypenny! :>

  • @Ape6390 - hey Ape. thanks for that. signed Miss Laura Moneypenny :-)

  • this helps cos im running for school captain soon

  • Wow, I definitely have a phobia on public speaking and she's so positive, warming and honest about the whole topic that I can almost feel my opinion about public speaking changing.

  • Statistically speaking, public speaking is the no. 1 phobia, next is no. 2 death (not divorce), no. 3 is fear of spiders, no. 4 is fear of darkness, no. 5 fear of heights, no. 6 fear of people, no. 7 fear of flying, no. 8 fear of open spaces, no. 9. fear of thunder/lightning, no. 10. fear of confined spaces.

  • i enjoyed this! she has a very trusting, warm, caring energy about her.

  • @phoenixhoneybee AND, she's busty!

    jk ;)

  • @phoenixhoneybee But how well do you REALLY know her?

  • I liked this, very well spoken.
