Great preformance! You really had the commando of the fight from the start :) I am hoping to fight at the same stadium next year when I move to Thailand.
Yeah, it's a decent little stadium. The thing I like the most about it is that there's a mirror you can shadow box in front of while you're warming up-very useful!
I'm a kiwi too and did some muay thai/kickboxing training in Auckland with the Toa club. I'm now in England and have found a gym here that I might join. Keep up the good work. All the best.
Do you do anything other than muay thai? I only ask because i dont really know what i should do next i do boxing so is it worth doing muay thai or should i just do jiu jitsu?
i'm still trying to get my head around usage of a helmet in an mma bout (pardon the pun). by helmet i take you're talking about head gear fareedio? this would be very awkward on the ground surely? no diss fareedio, just curious is all, was it just standup ma possibly? i suppose, technically, an mma bout doesn't necessarily require grappling.
...Heres somin u dont see everyday, the guy that lost... well he had guts yeah, however his fear stopped him from striking. He was very tough but should have gone for it at the end, interesting fight tho i must say.. Wish both guys good luck
wow, I respect ur opinion mate but ur a hard man. have u ever fought/sparred muay thai? not being a prick but those rnd hse kicks r the equivalent of a baseball bat being swung full force at ur thighs. just listen to the audio on impact, requires a huge heart to even walk out after a few rnds of that, never mind 'going for it'. richie is a very experienced fighter and he has serious pop with his hands and feet. this guy, tough as he was, was outclassed. 'fear' was not the issue.
Yeah i understand what u mean about the kicks. Similar thing happen to me and yes i have been in mma fights, I had 3 fights in one day however it wasnt extreme like this as we had helmets but my body was messed up for a month. lost all three fights as the first person i fought was experienced for 10 years. But yeah that guy on this vid is a beast i have to admit. I dunno if i could get in the ring with him (with muay thai training)
they put u in with 3 opponents in 1 night as a novice? harsh! not sure i've ever seen anyone wear a 'helmet' in an mma bout. i'd imagine if your opponent locked a rear naked choke on you it would be quite uncomfortable??
u had your game tight. thinking u were up against a strong, experienced opponent, u attacked his legs early (to take his power, movement away), then goading him in (flailing arms) looking to counter an offensive style. I was wondering why u were showing so much respect. I was expecting u 2 counter his double jab, right with your left and attempt to get him out of there, although, i guess, why risk it? very game opponent though, hope he gets some more fights soon.
I went in swinging hard in the 1st but after he rumbled me with those elbows (i actually saw stars and got tunnel vision from those!) it seemed a good idea to sit back and try bring his hands down low with body kicks and put him down with a head kick. i thought i'd sort of just let it all play out rather than force anything big.
Yeah i hope he sees this and gets in contact coz' I feel bad not having that drink! (man did we got LOST looking for that bar)
yes, ur right, look 4 the ko, get ktfo...lol, elbows + heavyweight = scar tissue = short career: solution - stay the fuck outside!!! better yet, k1??? joking mate, ur defence is looking tight, hands r up, footwork in-out. obviously training hard as usual. looking forward 2 future fights...
Totally agree with you, Richie, only a non-fighter would make this criticism. u know the type, the fat fuck with beer in hand that sits at safe distance from the ring offering his 'expetise' whilst knowing that he would have an instant heart attack if he approached within 1 metre of the ring. Don't know the opponent Richie, but he showed a TON of heart. Those raking rnd house kicks to the legs would have rendered 99.9% of the populace pulp. He didn't even show signs of quitting. Big future!!!
*DISCLAIMER*: no offence intended against 'fat fucks' and particularly no offence intended against beer. beer is a marvelous invention and it is recommended that one consume large quantities to maintain a healthy lifestyle...phew...hope i got that in prior to papers being drawn up for my legal ex-communication from country of origin.
Ahhh fuck em Peter. You paste anything on Youtube & ur always gonna get the armchair sadists that hate on everything. Bro, you got a guy dissing' you for lifting a 1000lbs!
"Violentstreak" is probably pissed because he is a cleaner but can't fight (and if u are a fighter i'm 84-90kg bro, ill take u boxing or muay thai:-)
Sounds good :D

Can you do flying knees in muay thai? and are elbows tot he back of the head illegal?
mattboxingfan 2 years ago
Flying knees are legal but elbows to the back of the head are illegal. However the referee didn't say anything so why stop? :-)

this would be for becoming an mma fighter.
mattboxingfan 2 years ago
i'd recommend Jiu Jutsu so you can get a grappling foundation early.

Your left kick took him apart man, very nice tool to have under your belt. Like the sportsmanship you showed at the end, top bloke ! Good fight.

Thanks mate, i try to diversify my game but i had a damaged left foot prior to the fight so i had to tee off on him with my lead leg.
He was a cool guy in that he showed me respect so its only fair that i return the favour afterwards.
Thanks for the positive comments^^

Yeah u can see when he banged me with those elbows in R1 his head was down and he was sorta swinging. Still hurt tho!
I could see he was scared and i made sure he stayed that way. Fear is as useful a weapon as a strong punch or kick.
Thanks for the nice comments btw!
Good luck with ur MMA

Hey bro don't diss that guy!
He showed alot of guts despite being massively outclassed but he didn't turn his back which says alot about him as a fighter and a person.
And who the fuck are you to comment on his skills anyway? Post some of your fights so we can see you in action "Violentstreak"
