You mean "NONE" for best weapon. I always fathomed how one would equip fists. Maybe chop them off one of your 3 party members that is dead the whole game?
Another challenge for the OCD lovers is BB,BB,BB,BB. You WILL get your grindan fill there. Enjoy your battle with ASTOS.
@movieguy1985 watch the video and you will see that i am using fists. also, leveling up a solo character is easy when level grinding the eye in the ice cave
@zsybrant yep. what i do is get the floater, head north to get class change and also get a proring, then go back and grind the eye straight to level 50. after that, i start knocking out the fiends, starting with kary who dies in one hit. in fact, i think kraken and tiamat die in one hit, too
I just recently decided to go through and play all of the main FF games from FF1 to FF10 (Cause I think the series just downward spiraled) I just finished FF1, not a bad game at all, but probably not the best of the series, but hell it layed the blueprint for RPGs so there is a level of respect, and nice kill xD, I beat Chaos at level 30 with just the Blackbelt and Black Mage, he used fast on himself at the very end, and almost used Cure4 and my blackbelt won it xX
definitely not in the nes version. i just fired up the same save state i used in this recording, went back to get the masmune, and challenged chaos with it. my master couldn't even do 400 points of damage. looked at the master's stats, too. some stats went down after equiping the sword.
@ncsu195 Armor and Weapons only weaken a master. It actually lowers Damage and Hit% dealing less damage and less hits (on the NES Version that is, not sure about the revised versions).
@MAZZ0Murder What stats raise when you gain a level is random, so if the Black Belt/Master's Str never raised, for example, it could take a few more hits. If Str raised very often, one hit is definitely possible.
TECHNICALLY, you didn't kill Chaos in 2 hits. You killed him with 18 hits. First round was 10-hits, second round was 8-hits. But still, Black Belt/Master = WIN!

Here's a little trick I learned. Give your master the masmune and he can kill Chaos in 1 round.

A Master is actually stronger when not equipped with anything.
It's based off the Monk class in Dungeons and Dragons, whose fists do far more damage than any weapon in the game.

my bb was at max level 50, so there wasnt much more room for improvement. i fought chaos many times and 1700 damage was the highest i could get
