  • WTF? Someone really damaged it. Usually toyota's don't sound like that till at LEAST 300,000 miles.

  • From the tone of your voice it sounds like you don't like Toyota's well my mom's 2011 Toyota Camry has 100,000 miles and it still runs great just changed the timing belts and essential fluids. Nothing major. And my Uncle's 1998 Toyota 4runner has 180,000 Miles and still runs great and he only changed the timing belt, fluids, and a few minor electric fuses/sensors.

  • @counkev jeez they're still using timing belts for 2011?

  • @Intechdude300 Sorry I meant to write 2001. But if they didn't have timing belts what will they use

  • @counkev Most cars use timing chains which never needs to be replaced.

You are right, I do not like most 2002+ Toyota products. But I will admit that the 2001 Camry you've got was actually a tank, had the best 4 cyl engine, & can outlast the newest Camry any day even with its high milage.

  • @Intechdude300 Well, We'll see my cousin has a 2005 Toyota Camry and it has held up well so far he has about 40,0000 miles on it. And hasn't changed anything major other than essential fluids. But some metal parts under the hood has rust when it has pretty new so that is such a FAIL. But I forgot to mention, my mom's 2001 Camry with 100k miles still has it's original brakes with plenty left. That's just an interesting fact.

  • what do you expect from an american built car.... dont blame toyota

  • Did you know their is a cabin filter behind the Glove Box. All you have to do is remove the Globe box.

  • @davinp I kinda figure as many cars are like that. My 2004 Mazda6 V6 is the same way :P

  • Also, because this is the SE - Sport Model, it has the sport gauges which have orange lights at night

  • I happen to drive the same car. My Camry is just about to turn 40,000 miles. Why is that engine so noisy, mine doesn't sound like that? Toyota's are usually quiet. As you can see the quality is good and had detoriated in the 2007 redesign. I have a net in my trunk.

  • @davinp Either there was an internal defect, possible over rev, or the engine may have ran without oil. But the car was in overall good shape & very clean so I doubt it was neglect.

  • yep..3rd generation this is when camrys went downhill

  • I will always stand by toyota regardless of what other people say thats just what I have been raised in and I know your not a toyota guy intechdude300 but toyota durabilty has nothing to do with when they sell a car to a jackass without brain who starves the engine of oil thats not toyotas fault most car from different companies will last as good as the owner takes care of them but

  • the engine on the 2002-2006 Toyota Camry/ Daihatsu Altis

    Engine

    2.4 L 2AZ-FE I4, 157 hp

    3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6, 192 hp without VVT-i (2002), 210 hp with VVT-i (2003-2006)

    3.3 L 3MZ-FE V6 SE (2004-2006), 225 hp

  • love the silver gauges tho

  • besides the engine prob. it needs a new battery also I didnt think it was going to start at first

  • That's a rod knockin.

  • A shame this vehicle was not properly maintained. While I hate all newer Toyotas, I test drove in one of these and thought it was a decent car overall, with a smooth four cylinder and comfortable interior. Not at all fun to drive, though. A definite step up from the 1997-2001 version.

  • "nice diesel!" LOL

  • dont say its toyotas fault dude, its the dumbass who owned it. toyotas are extremely durable.

  • @icecoldkilla007

I know, but its basically to show those out there that any engine is vulnerable as theres people out there who think not..

  • @toyota4life94 I wouldn't say all Toyota engines, my neighbor has a 2001 Toyota Sienna with around 140k and often it smokes on start up, and its burns some oil. A guy up the street has i'm guessing 98-00 and it runs kinda rough, so i wouldn't say the Toyota 3.0 is a great engine, least not with what I saw. That said my uncle has 02 Camry with the 2.4 that has 228k miles on it and the engine sounds like it new, uses Valvoline Synthetic blend, but the interior is trashed, as is the tranny.

  • The 2.4L was a great engine. Don't blame Toyota because some jackass starved it of oil. But it seems you like to blame Toyota, regardless.

  • @StopDropandLOL

No not really, Just showing off the fact that a Toyota & or it's engine which many feel is high & mighty could just as well suffer just like any other car out there & that no car is immune to certain neglect & abuses, many toy fanboys like to talk junk, speak otherwise, & act like its the most superior thing out there

  • @StopDropandLOL that 2.4 L was a great engine but in 2010 camries it was replaced with the 2.5 which isnt much different

  • @StopDropandLOL that 2.4 was an awesome motor but the owner should be ashamed for treating like that

  • By the way toyota had nothing to do with the engine knocking its these stupid negligent owners that are to lazy to keep your regular maintenance kept up for the cars I know you dont care nothing for a Toyota but I think toyota has some high mileage engines in the cars but thats what you get when a owner is stupid like that

  • That is just carelessness from the owner not changing the oil. That will happen to any engine that lacks oil...not just Toyota.

  • @poptartsandburgers I agree 100% with you I really dont think toyota had anything to do with it it has to do with the owner not taking care of the car I didnt think it was going to start at first

  • camry sucks

  • that's a Horrible Case of Rod Knock....sounds like the engine was starved of Oil....not as much toyota durability as it was owner neglect it seems.

  • i Really don't like this Generation Camry...mind you the exterior is OK the interior is just awful.

  • @form109 I really disliked that steering wheel that Toyota put in all their vehicles around 2003, that three spoke one, it was in the Corolla, Camry, Matrix, RAV4, possibly more vehicles too

  • @talldude123 me personally im more a fan of 4 Spoke Wheels.

  • @form109 Yea I like four spoke sterring wheels too.

  • @Intechdude300 I bet you wanted to rev it a lot higher than that! lol

  • @affEMS7

yup, but I'd get kicked out if I got caught seizing the engine. I think it would've happened if I had revved it just a little higher.

  • @Intechdude300 even though I am a fan of toyotas I would be tempted to rev the engine but anyway

  • @toyota4life94 You have the nerve to call me an idiot? When you cannot use proper punct. or grammar? Its? You sound retarded. It is 'it's' and 'you're' not your. Typical dumb ass.

  • @toyota4life94 Yep, thats what I meant, LOL

  • ......wow

  • @toyota4life94 Not, it's called: Toyota can't build cars for shit!

  • HAHAHAHAHAH! Typical Toyota!

  • @TotalTQ This actually is not, its a defect caused by a metal pice that gets jammed into a valve. This is a good generation of camry, but you can see its starting to decline.

  • @Lexuslover123 Actually, the sludge is pretty common.

  • @TotalTQ Its caused because the design is flawed and because mechanics are not careful enough.

  • @Lexuslover123

    Plastic everything like Barbie haha

  • @Lexuslover123 I'd say it's design flaw, nothing mechanics can do...

  • @TotalTQ Um, its also caused by mechanics jamming the oil filter into the vehicle, which apparently triggers this to happen.

  • @Lexuslover123 Not trying to be an asshole here, because I don't want to get into it with you again, but you're sounding very retarded.... The reason is becaus...well there's several reasons...1. The oill passeges are way too small. Then the heads on the motor run hotter...much hotter than the rest of the block, which causes condensation to run into the oil, and make it gel/milkshake.

  • @TotalTQ Oh jfc. I mean Because not becaus

  • @TotalTQ I am taking knowledge from a video I saw on this.

  • @Lexuslover123 The oil filter cannot be "jammed in there" at best it would leak...a lot.

  • @toyota4life94 My sister has a 2002 Camry XLE with the 2.4L, that she bought brand new. Still has it with almost 200,000 miles and not one problem with the engine. It runs like new, the car still looks like new inside and out too. So it comes down to how a car's taken care of.

  • 0:45 LMAO at nice diesel! Will take!

  • @Lexuslover123

This one was quite screwed LMAO... I honestly believe the owner lost oil after an oil change & didnt realize until it was too late.

I feel the previous owners likely werent neglectful as the rest of the car was in clean excellent shape & it didnt seem recently detailed either.

  • @Intechdude300 I know someone (my cleaners actually) who have the v6 se 2005 model (same gen) and it actually looks like a decent car, do you have any opinions on it? I know this one here is a lemon though.

  • @Lexuslover123

Not a fan of the looks but I must say the the interior is so much better than the 07. Plus in this generation V6 you get the 5 Speed auto vs the 4 cyl getting a 4 speed. I've driven the 4 cyl of this generation & it was excellent on gas but it was a pure dog.

The only thing I like about the 07 and newer Camry is the powerful V6 paired to a 6 speed auto. But what good is that generation if one cant enjoy the rest of the car. So yeah, I would rather a V6 03-06

    I'll do another

  • @Intechdude300 Thanks, btw, the current camry has a padded dash right? Although I could care less because I wont want a care i can rip apart so easily, LOL

  • @Intechdude300 maybe they took it to jiffy lube then, they drain your oil and forget to put new oil in half the time

  • @2004NissanSentra

Sometimes the seal from oil filter stays stuck onto the car & the guys forget to check & make sure that its not. So if they just put on the new filter, the oil will slowly leak out. Caught many shops forget to check when I had to do oil changes at shops for a few months.

  • OMG... i feel bad for the camry! hahaha

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Hey man, did you except my video response to your crapolla review yet? Please accept it when you get a chance.

  • @Lexuslover123

    yup, did it today!

  • @xoquixxoqafxo Thanks!

  • Wow, the engine almost sounds like a tractor trailer truck, LOL

  • Just saying. But you can't exactly blame Toyota for the engine sounding so bad. The previous owner probably never gave it an oil change or something.

  • @toyota4life94

No, that is a greaslike substancs that occurs when a head gasket has failed & it has a milky color where even you'll find it built up under the oil cap.. Engine sludge is way different as in Using cheap oils & failing to change the oil in the proper intervals lead to that oil building up into a thick dark grease. Sometimes blocking the screen or even building up where the cams are preventing oil from draining back down into the engine.

  • The 06 SE V6 could do 0 to 60 in 6 seconds!

  • Always liked the styling

  • what a poop

  • @toyota4life94 yeah I kind of figured it was something like that. I can easily tell this car was kind of abused. It looks like somebody intentionally ripped the cup holders thing out and broke the trunk.

  • @toyota4life94

Engine sludge can lead to this as well which is a common thing with this engine family. See many Toyotas with this engine & even the smaller version like in the Corolla with that issue..

  • @Intechdude300 good reason to run synthetic if you have a toyota or any sludge prone engine, they run just fine when you do. btw the corolla engine is totally a piece of shit, i've seen one b4 and it has small pistons and oversized rings. the 2.4 and 3.0 & 3.3 V6 on the other hand is very reliable when you take care of them

  • @toyota4life94 Like I said it kind of doesn't make sense. I like the car yet I don't.

  • I think the year after this Toyota went down the crapper when it came to the quality and materials in their cars. I know somebody who has a 2003 4-cylinder 6-speed SE model Camry and overall its a nice but bland car, interior isn't great but it's not awful quality.

  • @talldude123 6 speed? Toyota didn't have 6 speeds in 2003. They had 4 speeds till 2005, then it was 5 speeds, today, they have 6 speeds. Just sayin.

  • @giannial1985 Manual tranny, not auto

  • @talldude123 The Camry's had only 5 speed manual's in 2003. Unless an after market 6 speed was put in.

  • @giannial1985 To be honest I didn't get a close enough look, heck I don't even know if it was a V6 or i4. It was a cabbie's car.

  • @talldude123 It was really in 98 when they did. like intechdude300 said the dash is almost TOO soft to the touch, but the quality of the center console isn't good at all. i've ridden in so many of these and i have seen interiors much worse than this, at least it doesn't have that snappy loose fitting quality of all new toyotas. The 03 corolla interior sucks, so did the 98's, the sienna's always sucked, and the highlanders, tacomas, 97-01 camry, and 4runners were good quality

  • @2004NissanSentra I totally agree with you man. I think it's when Toyota started to build in USA and Canada when the quality started to fall.

  • @2004NissanSentra Yeah I've ridden in many Camrys and this one is noticeably better then the current one. The 07-09 are the worst, I think the 10-11 Camrys are a little better.

  • @abram7117 this one still isn't very good and the 2010 & 2011 models aren't any better than the 07-09 models they still have the lego interiors

  • Those 2.4's are very reliable...Im guessing not doing the proper maintenance from the previous owner. And ill be honest I also like the look of this generation of the camry.

  • nice. oh what a feeling.

  • What could be wrong with the engine?

Also I remember on your last current gen Camry vid you showed how the steel wheels already had rust on them. Sure enough this weekend I saw on this girls' Camry all 4 wheels had that surface rust on them.

  • And you need to add a A at the end of Toyota.

    js

  • @TJC450

    got it.

  • @Intechdude300 Wow, my sister has a 2002 XLE model with the 2.4L. Almost has 200,000 miles on it and not one problem with it. So this one must have been neglected big time. Sounds like there's no oil or a valve went bad. My sisters still runs like brand new!

  • lol "nice diesel"

  • I'm not a fan of Toyota.

But I kinda like the looks of this Camry.

For being the bland cruddy car that it is.

If that makes any sense xD
