    - Autumn

  • : O

  • picneh video chingon

  • @troyeros

    Lo siento, no entiendo.

    Dan

  • Amazing how this very intricately designed monster was made all from a piece of junk like a newspaper! Thank your for showing us your skills - you're very talented Dan :) More power to you!

  • @asianographer

Thank you for the very nice comment! It made my day.

    Take care

    Dan

  • This is just fantastic. I love your helpful little kitty. :} Is there a special technique you're using for the paint job, or are you just painting it very quickly, and briskly rubbing it off to give it a dusty look? Semi dry or still wet?

  • @guiltydecayed

Hi there. Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Usually I use watered down black paint at the end to pull out the highlights. I dubbed it "blackwashing". I paint it on and quickly wipe it off before it's dry. It really pulls out the details. In this case I used a brownish color because this is an albino. But the same principle applied. Sometimes I do these "washes" several layers deep with several colors.

    Thanks again

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan Thank you for your prompt reply. Me and a friend are making a paper mache project for Halloween, and I've been watching your videos closely to get an idea of what you're doing. The white cloth mache idea is just brilliant. Thank you for posting these videos, they've really helped us out.

  • @guiltydecayed

You are welcome! Good luck on your projects!

    Dan

  • a cunto melobendes

  • @chivageorge

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Google translate didn't help. Thank you for commenting.

    Dan

  • thanks Dan :-)!!!!!!

  • And do you paper mache the tounge

  • @TheOnlyBrownBear

No, I just twist paper around clothes hanger wire and wrap with masking tape.

    Dan

  • @TheOnlyBrownBear

No, again, I twist paper around the wire and wrap with masking tape. But then I add a layer of "cloth mache" over that and paint.

    Dan

  • Do you paper mache the bones for the wings .

  • hey dan i am making a dragon and i would like to know what is the stuff you used at 1:32

  • @TheMonks7

Hi there. Do you mean when I was adding the scales? That is cloth (and old bed sheet) dipped into white glue (Elmer's). I start with a square piece and fold in the corners to make a point. I call this process "cloth mache".

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan thank you i just finished my dragon so i was glad to get the advise you are too kind :)

  • @TheMonks7

Congratulations! It's nice to meet another dragon artist! Keep up the good work!

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan i will upload a video of it for you to see i am a artist too! i do all kinds of art

  • p.s look at a video of mine that shows my art (i am 11)

  • @DanMonsterMan hi i dont no im trying to make armor do you know if i papier mache over or under the tape please reply (im a begginer at papier mache and i was not sure im 11) (\_/) (^.^ )

    (")(")o

  • @MrGuineapigdude

I use tape at various points. I tape before I put on paper mache. Then I use tape to sculpt the piece. I put cloth and glue over that. I have lots of information on my site, gourmetpapermache (dot com) and my blot, papermacheblog (dot com) if you are interested.

    Dan

  • Hi Dan love the work . What size are the eyes in mm

  • @TheOnlyBrownBear

Hello there. The eyes in this particular dragon are pretty small, about 10 or 11 mm.

Thank you for the nice comment.

    Dan

  • hello Dan.

Fantastic art. BUT do you have beginners ..... at a little slower pace !!!!

    Annie

    Yungaburra australia

  • @cafecop2000

Hello Annie. These videos are meant for entertainment, not instruction. I do have instructional videos on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and I document the building several projects on my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com).

    Dan

  • Btw it's amazing

  • Hello I was wondering what base u no like a ballon

  • @hippometal10

Hello. Thank you for the kind words. No, I don't like balloons. Too symmetrical, . I just crumple paper and mache over it. At the beginning of the videos you can see me crumple up paper into wads. That's what I use for the base.

    Take care

    Dan

  • How did you learn this?

    Its amazing! :D

  • @ASURMlN

Thank you! That's very nice of you to say. As far as learning this, I guess I am self-taught. I've been doing paper mache for a long time (35+ years). Over time I developed my own techniques. Thank you for asking.

    Dan

  • @yomismooo1

    Hello there,

That is actually cloth. I put a "skin" on my projects of cloth (old bed sheets) dipped into white glue. When they are painted they have the feel of leather. Much more information on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com) if you are interested in my techniques.

    Take care

    Dan

    Dan

  • what type of paper do you use for the wings?

    can you tellme please...

  • how time , during to make a dragon?

  • @misspazi

It usually take me a couple of weeks to make a dragon. Thank you for your interest.

    Dan

  • wow..........so. impressed.

  • @suffogrind

Thank you! I really appreciate your nice comments!

    Dan

  • Uh.......This guy just took it to another level LOL

  • hi i like ur work but can i use something else other than masking tape because i only have packaging tape?

  • @TheWaffleMix

I think you could use any kind of tape before you put on the paper mache. Obviously, I use a lot of masking when I sculpt with the dried pieces. I'm not sure how well a cellophane tape would work for that. My guess is it would be fine. Give it a try.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • Awesome!!!

    Jeff

  • @LaffertySketchCards

Thank you Jeff. I appreciate your nice comment.

    Dan

  • you dragon its genial do you like to see my paper mache dragon your work inspired me to make my own sculpture

  • @jakobk54

    Hi there,

Thank you for your nice comments! I'm very flattered. You did a fantastic job on your dragon. Congratulations! If you have a still photo, I'd love to post it on my site. If you are interested just send it to me, dan at gourmetpapermache (dot com). I enjoy showing off other artist's work.

    Take care

    Dan

  • *is jealous* Must.. achieve.. such talent...

  • @EmilyEverlasting92

You are funny. I love your login too. Thank you for the nice comment.

    Dan

  • Hi Dan! Big fan of yours~ :) All your videos (and lovely tutorials) are darn inspirational! I've started to make something out of paper mache, but just a question. Is it necessary to cover your whole model with masking tape before adding the wet layers?

  • @moonblader

Hi there. Thank you for your nice comment. No, you don't have to cover everything with masking tape. I'm just obsessive. I overdo everything. You only need enough masking tape to hold everything together.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • Wow... your work is simply amazing! I love it!

  • @SigmaStasDS

Thank you for another nice comment! I'm very flattered. And thanks for the subscription. I'll have another video this weekend. Take care

    Dan

  • Dude... that was epic!

  • @shumila

Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    Take care

    Dan

  • what sort of material did you use for the wings?

  • @comanchemaster

Hello there. That is just white cloth dipped in white glue. Really nice for wings, especially when painted with latex paints. Makes them feel like leather.

    Dan

  • what paste do you use for the papier mache?

  • @johnnyboyrich

Hello there. For the paper mache part I just use cheap, white flour and water. That's it. Nothing fancy. If you are interested, I have a lot of information on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com).

    Take care

    Dan

  • not a big fan of sculpting but that was a great sculpture

  • @skkiittllezz

Thank you so much! I"m very happy that you like the dragon. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    Take care

    Dan

  • it is great!! how do you make the flakes?? thanks you

  • @gregoC13

Hello there. Do you mean the scales? I just fold cloth on two corners into a triangle. Nothing too fancy.

    Take care

    Dan

  • i like this dragon. it is soooooooooooo cute. Is it for sale?

  • @nightowl61inokc

I like it too. It's for sale but it's quite expensive. You can find prices on my site.

    Dan

  • KITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • @skateyasha1

Yes, that was Eddy. Or Max. I can't remember. Thank you for writing.

    Dan

  • You are EXTREMELY TALENTED!!! ITS AMAZING!!!!!

  • @ZoggaZozo

Thank you! That's very nice of you to say.

    Dan

  • Makes me want to work with paper mache...

  • @Monkeyslash

Yes, that's the point. It's a great medium for self expression. Seriously, what other medium is so versatile and forgiving? Give it a try! You'll love it.

    Dan

  • art takes time...

  • @YOzMuddaZ

Yes, no doubt about it. People think because my techniques are simple, that they are easy. They take a lot of effort and time. All art does. Thank you for the comment.

    Dan

  • what did you use for the teeth?

  • @vvotc

I used a polymer clay called "Fimo." There are many similar brands at any hobby store.

    Dan

  • for the mouth did yo make it into a ball frst nd then cut it or do you make them seperatly?

  • @predeta470

I made a paper mache ball first and then cut it into two parts for the upper and lower jaws.

    Dan

  • what did you use for the scales?

  • @predeta470

Hello. Those are just square pieces of cloth, dipped in glue, and folded into a point.

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • What do u use for the clws and bck spikes?

  • @venomDgamer

That is "Fimo". You can buy it at any craft store.

    Dan

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love your works

  • @ddurtor

Thank you for the nice comment. I'm glad you like the work. I'll have another video in the next week or so. Take care.

    Dan

  • you use acrylic paint right? do you use a varnish to make it shiny? for ur other projects not just this one.

  • @aisumi123

Actually I use latex type paint, all purpose paint like you paint your wall with. I get it at Home Depot. Actually any water based paint works well. I don't use varnish at all. Whatever sheen you want depends upon whether you use flat or semi or gloss paint. I prefer flat my self. But it's a taste issue.

    Good luck

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • this is like very unrelated but what would you suggest if i wanted to make wings for a bird , what could i possible use? I was thinking using wire to make the shape for the wings and use newspaper to shape out the wings but i'm not sure how that'll work. Again sorry if this is like bothersome, wanted to make a paper mache hawk hahah lol....This is also the first time im making something like this.

  • @aisumi123

Sorry, the only birds I've made I used actual feathers. You can buy them at craft stores. I wouldn't know how to do it any differently.

    Dan

  • has your cat ever messed up one of your creations to where you had to throw the paper mache away

  • @jcarrigan0

No, they've never really messed up any of my art. It's pretty hard to hurt these pieces. My cats are really fun to have around.

    Dan

  • dude this is like totally awesome i may try to make this one day is that ok?

  • @aisumi123

Thank you for the nice comment. Yes, you should definitely make a dragon some day. It's very satisfying.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • @extremotheclown

A dragon on your van would be great. I'm going to make a dragon for my truck at some point. But I'm going to stretch it out like hunters do with a deer and put it on the hood. Kind of gruesome, but fun.

    Good luck.

    Dan

  • I always enjoy your creations Dan. How about a Christmas Monster? Hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season

  • @imaccheroni

Hey professor. Thank you for the nice comment. I did make a Christmas video last year. It's called "Santa's Little Paper Mache Helper" You can find it here on Youtube.

Take care. Hope you are making lots of dinosaurs.

    Dan

  • simply amazing mate, you are a true artist.

  • @rwark90

Thank you! You are very kind. I'm glad you like the work.

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • I love it when your little spoiled cat runs in and out of your vids. . . I guess he/she feels like they just have to be involved with your art . . . priceless.

  • @BloodTar

Thank you. You are absolutely right on all counts. They think everything I do is to please them. Everything I move is something to play with. That's why they show up in all the videos. Thanks for noticing.

    Dan

  • the wings are amazing!!! could you do it alittle slower?

  • @mslinnealove

I have some slower videos on my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com). At least for part of the process.

    Dan

  • how did you get the texture on the face

  • @dededaboy

Those are little scale. I dip small pieces of cloth in glue and fold them into polygons. Nothing exotic.

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • LOL at your cat! X'D I hope you can show the process to us a little bit slower.. :'D

You are a great paper macheist!.. (no such word, I know.) But still! Your works are great!

  • OH MY GOD !!!!! i want one of those in my room...

  • @cheestoast11

I love your login! Thank you for the nice comment. You could definitely make one for your room. Give paper mache a try!

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • @DanMonsterMan best thing i can make is a pencil holder

  • @cheestoast11

You are funny. Of course everything takes practice.

    Dan

  • @DanMonsterMan thanks! i like your videos! you are AMAZING at paper mache'ing

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it.

    Dan

  • @Specialkiss2010

I just use all purpose, water based paint that I buy at Home Depot. Nothing special.

    Dan

  • Great work!

  • @starkiddo83

Thank you very much for the nice comment!

    Dan

    GourmetPaperMache (dot com)

  • i luv these kinds of dragons :D

  • @firewind10100

Thank you again! You are very kind.

    Dan

  • Dan you are a very inspiring man and will go on to do great things! thx so much for putting the time and effort into theses videos and sharing with us ur great talent.

  • @TheSnipaAssasin

You always have nice things to say. Your kind words are appreciated. Thank you!

    Dan

  • hey dan have you ever thought about making short videos with all of your master pieces you know like short fun videos

  • @XxPHO3NIX

No, I've never thought about putting them all together in one video. But that is something I will consider. Thank you for the suggestion!

    Take care

    Dan

  • I love your work! This is probably my favorite of all your videos - if only making a dragon like that really took 2 minutes in real life! I also watch your blog, it really helps the learning experience when you see all the parts before assembling them. What do you normally use for fangs and claws? I see you use them a lot but I don't know what they're made of. Thanks in advance and keep up the awesome work! I hope to see more tutorials and videos from you :D

  • @TonesofMockConcern

Hi there. Thank you for the nice comment! I'm so happy you like this dragon. It hasn't gotten the same reception as my others. I was worried people didn't like it. It has grown on me. I wanted it to be somewhat catlike in its pose.

I use "Fimo" for claws and teeth. There are other similar products, Sculpy etc. You bake it in the oven. Any hobby store will have it. Let me know if you have other questions.

    Take care

    DAn

  • What glue paste do you use? I really like flour and water, it is easy to mould. I have tried with wood- glue mixed with water but I dont like that so much....what would you reccomend? Also what tape are you using?

  • @mysteryteacher9

I use flour and water too for the paper mache phase. I use white glue and cloth for the "skin". And just masking tape. I have more info on my site, GourmetPaperMache (dot com) and my blog, PaperMacheBlog (dot com)

    Take care

    Dan

  • amazing i have one question though what is that pink stuff u put in the mouth because it doesnt look like paint

  • @musicm51

Thank you for the nice comment. Actually, that's exactly what it was, pink paint. I paint my jaws before putting them in the project. It's easier that way.

    Take care

    Dan

  • That is AWESOME

  • @johndalymusic

Thank you John. Hope you are still writing your music.

    Dan

  • WOW it looks so real, though i never know how one will look in real...LOL...

But amazing work.....Your hands really have the touch of god

  • @simsmel

Wow, what a nice comment! Thank you so much for the wonderful comment! I really appreciate it.

    Dan

  • As per usual, this is amazing! Again, absolutely fantastic work! However, I have to ask, does it ever get annoying trying to build one of these and keep everything framed for the camera? I've wanted to do a video like this for some of the work I do, but I move my pieces around a lot while I'm working, and it gets annoying trying to keep a camera on it at all times. It can slow down your progress, I find anyway.

  • @Pixelbuddy

    Hey Torin,

Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the support. You are always kind. And yes, it is hard to build and film at the same time. Many times I forget about the camera and get hours of useless video. Just the back of my head. Luckily I edit 95% of the video anyway. Usually there is plenty of decent video for 3 minutes.

You should give it a shot. Can't hurt.

Take care. Keep doing your art.

    Dan

  • Mr. Reeder. YouTube isn't allowing me to share a vid in here for some reason, but if you go to my channel you'll see the latest vid I made showcasing some of the latest tips & tricks I invented (I think - unless someone else got there before I did - LOL) regarding eyes and scales. I think you'll like it! :)

    Stephane

  • Mr. Reeder. Just made a quick vid showcasing my tips and tricks for making scales and eyes. Think you'll like these!

  • Oof, you are inspiring me again, and I'm still in trouble for painting that chupacabra in the house! Great work, beautiful dragon!!! ~Coy

  • @ChaosFox0

    Hey Coy,

Nice to hear from you. I'm glad you like this one. I enjoyed making him (or her).

    Take care

    Dan

  • i'm like the horns of this albino dragon

    these are magnificense

  • thanks for the page, tell me how to pay, you can pay on delivery? , How long it takes to bring him? is that I've never bought online

  • @sergioteranvilla

I think that you must pay them with a credit card. I'm not sure how long it would take to get the eyes from them to you in Spain. You could probably contact them to find out.

    Dan

  • Wow...

Mr. Reeder, you have done it again. What a great and beautiful masterpiece! Just breathtaking!

By the way, I haven't started the life sized eagle yet, but soon I will have some interesting information for you and your readers regarding some cool eyes. I made my own and they are very realistic - and relatively easy to make.

  • @veritassecreto

Hey Stephane. Nice to hear from you. I'm glad you like my new dragon. Next video I'm going to make something else maybe even something cute. Who knows. Your new eyes sound great. I look forward to seeing them. Hope you get to your eagle soon. But I know it's hard to find time.

    Talk to you later.

    Dan

  • Dan hello my name is sergio I live in Spain and I love dragons you do, are the most realistic I've seen on this whole dragon albino, I wanted to ask how you get the eyes, and how did you get the horns of the albino dragon

  • @sergioteranvilla

    Hello Sergio,

Thank you for the nice comment. On your side of the planet a great place to get glass eyes is GlassEyes (dot com). They have a wide assortment. They are in the UK I think. I make the horns out of "Fimo" a plastic material you bake in the oven. But there are many brands of essentially the same thing. Any craft or hobby supply store will have something like it.

    Good luck on your projects.

    Dan

  • Our boy Dan does it again!!! I think this is one of your best !!!

    Brilliant!

  • @teletron1

Thank you so much! That makes my day. I really appreciate you saying that.

    Dan

  • wow that's really cool. how long on average does it take to make something like this? and how many times is this sped up?

  • @gorgar43

This dragon took me about three weeks to build. That's a few hours a day. I'm always making several things at once so it's hard to ever know exactly how long it takes. I actually don't speed the film up. I just shoot time lapse. The camera shoots a few frames a second.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Dan

  • long time no see! its always a pleasure and inspiration to watch your creations come to life

  • @walenonou2

You are always very supportive. Thank you for the nice comment (as usual). Hope all is well with you.

    Take care

    Dan

  • Can't wait for a new tutorial I bought your book but the video tutorials are a big help getting to you see do each step is awesome. Wish I could buy a DVD or something. I'm 27 and I'm building my first dragon and my girlfriend and my two kids (5 and 7) are making some as well right along with me. They love all your videos too, even the tutorials.

  • @justinknots

I'm glad you like these. And I'm glad they help. I'm happy to try to answer questions if you get stuck during your projects. It's easier if you contact me at dan at gourmetpapermache (dot com). And remember, I love to post photos of projects people make on my site. Keep that in mind if you ever want to show off your finished pieces.

    Dan

  • Nice!

  • @Harleyd497

Thank you! I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to comment.

    Take care.

    Dan

  • I love it! I especially love that you put the square shapes on it's face like you did on your trophy. So cool!

  • @xsyrenn

Thank you. Yes, I tried the regular scales on the face but it didn't look right. These look better. I appreciate that you noticed!

    Dan

  • Amazing work Mr. Dan!

  • @Generaleagle1

Thank you Mr GeneralEagle. I appreciate it.

    Dan
