  • yeah I don't doubt that. Notice also the guy on the left at the title screen looks exactly like Bruce Lee and the other one looks just like Jean Claude Van Damme. Had Bruce lived that long that might've actually been a kinda cool duo for a real movie, with Norris tossed in there somewhere. And then there's Duke Nukem asking you if you're bad enough to rescue President Ronnie lol.

  • This game was obviously inspired by the 'American Ninja' Movie released in 1985.. (The game was released in 1988 in Arcades) This game lives on through Emulation :)

  • I forgot how terrible this game was :)

  • "Got It!!!"

  • I don't know how any of us thought Ninjas were cool in the 80s when in Video Games and movies we would see hordes of them getting their asses kicked.

  • This was one of the first arcade games I played, about 17 years ago. It was awesome.

  • I'm Bad!!

  • .... Those "ninjas" are crappier than The Hand Genin .....

The detail with the straws in the sewer water is a nice one, though. :)

  • Boss number 2: stay on the truck hood, charge punch, hit boss, repeat.

  • Lmao, "I'm bad"! ha ha ha

  • It just goes to show that there's no problem two dudes in Zubaz and Chuck Taylor's can't fix.

  • Is it just me or does he sound like Ice-T each time he says, "Got it!"?

  • @EMAINIE lol...

I never noitced it until you mentioned it.

  • lol is it just more or is the nes music way better xD

  • @bigphil0005 Me**

  • I use to spend my whole allowance on this game here...such a shiny memory this game is.

  • voice in a meldoic Bruce Dickenson style, "GOT IT!!"

  • The song itself will not even be about this game. Nor will it be about fighting. It will be a kickback to the 80's of when heavy metal like Maiden or Priest had uplifting songs that made you want to work out and stuff. Maybe the song can be about a wizard looking for knowledge. In the middle of the song would be a kick ass, faster drum beat, guitar solo followed by twin guitars and high pitch operatic vocals. O wait! Before the guitar solo's even go on, the sing will go into a lower monotone

  • Ever think this theme would be good to use for a Iron Maiden like song? At first, the song would be playing at, what note does this start out with? High E? If so, slow paced guitars and steady drum for about a minute then Bruce Dickenson sings as lyrics are installed in the obvious notes in this where vocals would be. But with some differences, just before the chroros part comes up, the mid beats like in @:39 would strickly be guitars blazing off British Metal Style.

  • this game used to be at my local subway restaurant until street fighter III third strike took it over

  • this arcade game was the shit back in the days when I was a kid

  • Are you a bad enough dude to THUMBS DOWN?

    ... I think not.

  • @Zenmuron3 I'M BAD! :P

  • ahh this brings back good old memories..I loved playing this in the arcade!

  • what does the green ninja (hanzo) say at 5:15???

    Watsinsua??

    Japanese???

  • The player here is obviously a bad enough dude.....

  • doesnt the first boss have his own game where he's the hero?

  • @paulwhitemon That's right, his name is Karnov and stars in...Karnov :D

  • They should've made this for SNES it would've looked just like the arcade

  • Data east has awesome games !

  • Im gonna go play this on my Dreamcast RIGHT......... NOW!

  • Bad dudes with attitudes, Ninja's took the president and that's just rude! I'm down for a burger, don't mind a shuffle. Fucking ninja check out. my. knuckle!

  • I'M BAD!

  • This reminds me of stopping by a liquor store after school in the 5th grade, to play this game; while sipping on generic grape soda and eating Hostess Choco Diles.

  • It's amazing how much better the NES music sounds than this.

  • I love it when you kill a Ninja it sounds like he shouts "T**t"

  • How games have evolved since I was a kid are just astounding

  • i remember playing this game in the late 80's in 7-11 drinking slurpee's

  • man, this game reminds me of the great days of gaming...i'm not saying they suck now, but they just don't make games like this anymore

  • IM BAD!

  • wow, those blue ninjas DIE when kicked once in the ankle... total stormtrooper effect!!

  • GOT IT!!!

  • such a good and cheezy game....good because your first boss fight is karnov....cheezy because you know...I'M BAD!

  • He is bad you know.

  • Classic!!!!!!

  • These are some fucking bad dudes allright.

  • Choice. I always get this one confused with the one where the skinheads have captured Madonna.

  • @classof77 It's Vigilante

  • @classof77 Yeah, someone else mentioned it was "Vigilante". That game plays incredibly similar to Kung-Fu Master with updated graphics.

  • thank god ninga assasins aren't attacking me in real life.

  • He does use the flaming punch, at the end of the sewers. But he misses a few moves:

    1. Punch the sky (stick up+punch)

    2. Twirlyfoot (hold jump, punch)

    3. Kick up your feets (stick down, hold jump, punch)

  • @junkboxxxxxx I'm sorry I didn't watch the whole vid, but does he ever kick straight up?

    4. Kick the sky (stick up + punch and jump at the same time)

  • I love the Stage 3 boss. He uses magic to multiply himself like Shinobi

  • double dragon vs bad dudes, the world would be destroyed by massive superpowers for being @ the same place @ the same time!

  • Damn! THIS brings back memories! If I could have back all the quarters I put into this one...

You're forgetting one important skill. Hold down the attack button for a second or 2, the dude will shout a loud "Hu-aaAHHH!", & be surrounded by flames... Then, release attack, & he shouts "HUHHH!" & throws a SUPER-powerful flaming punch! (GREAT against bosses!)

  • @XMChipXM OK! I stand corrected... You used it against the 3rd boss!

(Note to self: Watch vids ALL the way through before commenting!) LOL

  • Stage 2 on top of the moving truck is probably where the idea for the "Matrix Reloaded" scene with Morpheus on the truck fighting an agent.

  • \m/

  • So Thats What he says

  • *fist pumps* Im bad.

This game brings back so many memories.

  • 1:28 "I'm bad!" ROFL

  • RAMPANT NINJA CRIMES THESE DAYS.. WHITEHOUSE IS NOT THE EXCEPTION...

  • This has the worst getting hit voices ever. The bad dude sounds like such a pussy. Stage 2 music was better in the nes version.

  • "I'm bad!" *smells armpit"

  • Your character sounds like Kool Mo Dee

  • R.I.P. Data East (1976-2003)

First game - Super Break 1976

Best game - Karate Champ 1984 (The first heads-up arcade fight game,a forerunner to the Street Fighter series)

Most original - Burger Time 1983

  • @spockmcqueen Karate Champ's controls are stiff compared to later fighting games, but it's still one of Data East's most lasting and influential games. And I don't even know how many quarters I put into Burger Time, hah!

  • @shincyriades Man, I remember Karate Champ in the arcades. That was a classic. It was confusing as hell, though.

  • @spockmcqueen IMO, Caveman Ninja/ Joe and Mac was their best. That or some of their Neo Geo entries like Magical Drop.

  • @spockmcqueen being that they made Karate Champ is kinda crazy how they got into that lawsuit for making Fighter's History

  • I am willing to bet that Michael Jackson got his inspiration for his 'Bad' album from this game. (Bad Dudes game 1986- album Bad 1987).

  • This is basically Shinobi and Kung-Fu mixed together with much better graphics and sound. I remember finishing this 2-3 times in the arcade. It was one of my favorite games at the time.

Salut to Karnov as the first level boss. Karnov was a better game than this though.

  • @H3RM3S78 correct!!!!!

  • "Im Bad!!"..XD..Love this game

  • Why don't people make more use of the power punch in this game? You can kill a ninja star and the guy throwing it if you have that move ready and holding.

  • i used to blow all kinds of money on this game in the arcades. i guess it was worth it, this game was awesome!!

  • I got the NES version yesterday, I love it!

  • the guy at 0:17 looks like duke nukem

  • @TheCommentGuy8 And the guy at 1:05 IS Karnov.

  • Is it me or does the voice "got it!" sound like Ice-T? By the way this game has the best sound effects of all the scrolling fighter games of this era in my opinion.

  • Rampant ninja-related crimes these days....

  • Man ninjas jumping off of Porsches Volvos Jeeps....Ive never seen that in NYC

  • narcs the arcade was fucking sweet, metal gear, contra...

  • I heard this game was based on a true story...

  • @toemasie It is. They made a movie based on it called American Ninja.

  • lmao voices ( guy trying to impersonate a female, when hit stallone cries )

  • NINJAS ARE GETTING THE SHIT KICKED OUT OF THEM BY DUDES.

ARE YOU A BAD ENOUGH NINJA TO STOP THEM?

  • President Ronnie .... aka Ron Paul.

  • this and vendetta the greatest beatemup ever!!!!!

  • omg!!!! so thats the name of the game!!!! i had so much fun with this! hahahahaha oooh my childhood

  • What? The truck doesn't crash like it does in Super Double Dragon?

  • Eventhough I thought that this game was a rip off of Double Dragon. It still is gnarly till this day. I am all about the arcade version because the NES version licks, sucks and swallows. No bad ass sound effects what so ever.

  • We're bad!

hhhhhhaaaaa that game was something. Just watch the ending. I realize that 25 years later, but now i know :)

  • I'm Bad!

    Soooo ace!

  • that game is awsome I played through and recused ronnie and had fun me and my buddy.

  • Sounds Like Miami Vice Opening theme.

  • Fuck you Karnov!

  • That Replicating ninja was badass

  • did anyone else notice the first boss was karnov?

  • President Ronald Reagan?

  • @CABANZO99 i noticed that too!

  • Ninja's everywhere!

  • These dudes are bad!!!

  • classic game brings back classic memories. i was in 4th grade playing this game.

  • PRESIDENT RONNIE HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED BY NINJAS that line could get you past anything

  • I vividly remeber my friend and I posing and sayin I'M BAD when we cleared a stage!.

  • duke nukem givin orders and shit

  • imo, the arcade versions of bad dudes and robocop are very similar

  • omg, stage 2 music is such a ripoff of castlevania in some parts(Trevor's theme)

  • Except that Bad Dudes is older than Castlevania 3.

  • @shincyriades About the 2nd level song, I recommend you listen to "Bad Dudes" by 8bit Duane. :D

Also, I got to say that the two songs really sound identical on some cords.

  • @shincyriades You mean Castlevania X, right?

  • @capote2509 they are made by the same company

  • @tygastyl Bad Dudes and Castlevania? They are made by Data East and Konami, respectively.

  • @capote2509 wow excellent observation, that does sound like castlevania music.

  • President Ronnie!

  • Bad Dudes is available on Wii - "GOT IT!"

  • "Im Bad!!!"

  • I always thought it would be funny to hear an old person say the opening line.

"We didn't have ninjas back in my day, there were simpler times. Ninja related crimes these days...White House is not the exception!"

"I know Grampa, time to take your meds, and make those big, mean ninjas go away."

  • Why do they say "DIE" in Gannon's voice?

  • The music on the second stage is bad ass!

  • "Got It" LOL!!!!

  • Wait a minute...didn't the guy at 1:13 have his own NES game?

  • @trendypinoy11

Yeah he did. The characters name is KARNOV and he starred in his own NES platform game of the same name. He was also a playable character in the data east fighting game series "fighters history".

  • Arcade game Karnov in 1987. You forgot that genius.

  • is this Nukem speaks for President to save ha

  • This was the shit. I can't believe I forget this game I kick ass in this game even though it suxs when your alone, but me and my friend finish through the end.

  • Soon to be out on Wii - coming February 9th, 2010!!

  • I had this game as a kid and loved it. Replay was awsome even if u memorized the levels. 5 outa 5

  • this game is so gangsta. you cant touch the 80's. this game and green beret were kick ass. thanx for the memories amigo.

  • Yeah!

  • Got it!!!!

  • Indeed, the game is full of the kind of Real Ultimate Power that 1980s action movies had!

  • dataeast must be pissed of this tune was much more famous in the castlevania series

  • Every enemy from Kunoichi to Karnov, every track on this game, I gotta say it: Bad Dudes is bad-ass.

  • this looks a lot better than NES as well as easier.

  • They both play the same to me.

  • never really took to this game

  • I used to play this game all the time at the arcade. I also had the NES version.

  • My all time favorite from that time was "Russian Attack" Arcade version cuzz the system one was horrendous. And how about "Altered Beast" ?. I just got the 360 and have the Sega Genesis Collection with all the sonic games and of course Altered Beast. Yea!!!!

  • Rush'n attack!!

  • Of the best music of one videogame(stage two) I love this game so much,

  • How do you get the flame punch?

  • The arcade always had better graphics I hated that. Another good game was "After Burner".

  • The should remake the game for this generation machines. It was a badass game.

  • Hell Yea!!!!!!!! Baaaammm!!!

  • This game was totally off the mother fucking chain. I remember playing it as a little kid at this grocery store my Grandma would go to in the early 90's. I thought it was a more California version of Double Dragon.

  • yeah, this game was bad ass hands down man there should of been a part 2 to dizz i still play this today i liked the arcade verison better then the nes

  • @THEXBOXICON I remember being so disappointed after getting the NES version lol

  • lol its still a classic man one of the first games i evered played in my life.... so its all good i hope it can get xbox live arcade one day

  • every thing was so awesome in the late 80s and 90s. Miss those days.

  • I love the arcade version, so much better than the nes one. The smal details add up.

  • IM BAD!!

  • This is an awesome classic game man..i remember getting pissed off when my mom wouldn't give more quarters cause that A hole with the large claw would always pwn me xD...memories!

  • I'M BAD!!!!

  • BAD DUDES!!!!

(Yeah, my brother and I still say that... brings back memories of when my mom would give us 20 bucks each to go to the arcade and get out of her hair for a few hours...)

  • Wow, she gave you that much on a regular basis?! I envy you (I got 20 bucks once though hehe).

  • @conradragzoff My mother take me too the videos and did that thing!! hahaha

  • hahahahaha, im from mexico, and my dad bough this arcade and i play all the day this game i love it,

  • ur dad bought u the whole machine? he must really love you...haha

  • hahahha, yeah we have it in the house, obviusly we put it out to make ppl play it and we win some extra money hahahaha.

  • I'M BAD!!!

    Kickass line.

  • That truck sure does bring back memories. I had forgotten all about this game.

    Thanks for posting.

  • best.... plot... ever

  • lol

  • I agree. Fuck character development and touching cutscenes, more games need a simple but kickass plot like this.

  • Level is a unique but strange concept. Apparently the Dudes are truck drivers that like to hitch rides on the top of their trailers. They must have been hauling something really valuable for Data East. Why else would the ninjas go through the trouble of transfering onto the truck while cruising down the freeway instead of just ambushing the Dudes when they stop?

  • The Bad Dudes use the truck to get where they are going. The Ninjas try to stop them while they are on the truck. When the truck stops the boss tries to finish what the lesser ninjas couldn't.

  • Obviously that's not what occurred. Like I said, they were hitching a ride on the roof of their trailers because their massive muscles wouldn't fit inside the truck. Then the ninjas came along because they were jealous, jealous of the Dudes, their massive muscles and payload of sleeveless shirts. Jealous of their big rig and the kickass paint job with DUDES logo. That's what stage two is all about.

  • Ninjas are from the East, so they couldn't help but try to ambush a truck bearing the letters "DATA EAST".

  • the music on stage 2 sound like castlevania.

  • This game owned! I used to go to my local P and C and played this game all the time! I loved it!

  • I used to love playing this game at the arcade. Of course, the NES version was the same, but the graphics were not as good.

  • "I'm bad!" yeah! this game is awesome!

  • It looks like Ronald Regan is kidnapped and he has to be saved by a couple gang members who will give them a full presidental pardon if they do save him.

  • This game helped with my tough times with puberty

  • did anybody know how to to the hurricane kick on this game

  • Press jump and attack at once while moving.

  • awesome post!!!

  • wow karnov has a HUGE FAT belly. i guess i had a one too many dunkin donuts (boston creme and french crullers) and twinkies washed down with diet pepsi cans...oops, i meant karnov...

  • Karnov is too GAR for Diet Pepsi! Or is that supposed to be Diet Coke which it is...? I can never remember, oh well. But he's also too GAR for donuts (not that they aren't for ord. GAR men)!
