I have a confession to make - Neds played live at Reading fetival, I was a HUGE Ned head..followed them all over the midlands for years, during Throwing things @Reading a lot of Ned fans had things to throw at the stage as a laugh.
I must confess it was me who hit John in the head with an apple ;)
The band have a new live CD/DVD out filmed May 2009 it features the original band members. Go to the big cartel website & search for Ned's Atomic Dustbin. Get your name on the artwork & a discount of 15% this week.
Grebo could not be further removed from Emo if it tried but I would love to know your thinking on this. Grebo is really an unkempt couldnt-care-less rocker from the UK, or something along those lines. Emo's are really boys who wish they were girls and girls who wish they were kissing girls, but note down lines of poems to 'accidently' leave lying around so people either find them deep and intelligent or worry that they may do themselves harm. No really Grebo at all!
In 1998 the term Grebo really wasnt being used any more. Apart from by kids in small towns to identify someone they didnt like I guess. Emo is a term for girly boys and Grebo was a term for dirty boys. Not the same but I like your thinking? Kids in 1998 used to insist there was some kinda war that went on between Nivana and Pearl jam but there really wasnt one. Things that get passed down from sibling to sibling get lost in translation very quick clearly
@mroyan Emo used to mean "emotional punk", that's what "Emo" is, an abbreviation of "emotional," thus the Emo's bar/venue in Austin that still exists, that has been around since the early 90s. It's not Goth (which young, stupid people now call "Emo"). In fact, Greenday is a perfect example of what used to be called Emo. And although Greenday now live in California, they are really from the Sugarland (Suburb of Houston TX) area, before their whiny little crybaby punk-wanna-be asses got signed.
i still have a 'did you miss NEDS ATOMIC DUSTBIN?...' (front) '...then you FUCKED UP' (back)t shirt! i spent ages painting the logo on each of my doc martens and then i painted a huge god fodder logo on the back of my leather jacket!
other featured names on my leather jacket -sensless things, carter usm, loop (remember them?they were fucking great! im gonna search them next! nostagia eh?it aint what it used to be. :) )jesus jones and ,bizarrely, fields of the nephilim! its still in my cupboard.and ,oh fuck yeh god bless the gym, just tried it on and it still fits! ha ha. im so tempted to wear it to the pub tonight!
Man!...so cool...this was one of the 26 times I had seen Neds. They were jsut unreal!..I recall when we were AMAZED! to see Neds on Top of the Pops with "Happy". I still have it on video somewhere. I still have loads of Neds t-shirts from those days ..and still wear with pride.
I wore my "Until You Find Out" shirt just the other day.
Man, look at that crowd! What a terrific time to be young with all those cool bands around. Mind you, I'm sure most people think that about their youth - but still...
Bands in those days had character. Bands to day suck!...all the friggin same. None of them have that special something. Certainly not nothing to make me go see them 26 times..like I saw Neds.
ma dad were there a year before i was born! omg :) he took me to see neds at the wulfrun in christmas 2007 fo rthere 20 year concert. it was immense and i love the band more than my dasd ans uncle!! immense band!
met them all and there better than loads of new stuff.
i remember being there that year, neds t-shirts everywhere. Neds, Rage and blur best bands of the whole weekend. 93 hey seems like a lifetime ago !! now i cant wait 2 take my kids to reading for the festival.
Some of the most down-to-Earth musicians you will ever meet. I had the pleasure of seeing them play with Letters To Cleo, Figdish, and Sponge in the late 90s in Fort Lauderdale at The Edge.
God this takes me back. I was smack bang at the front here wearing an arran sweater as I remember-dont ask! Spotted myself on tv as it was shown on a prog called The Beat? Seem them few times recently Barlfy Brum, Forum Kentish Town and Wolves Civic and they are still a cracking group.Cheers for the vid I will be forwarding this deffo!
Nirvana played in 1992. Great Video, check out KYTV from this years Glasto, just type Neds Atomic Dustbin Glastonbury 2007, and you tube will do the rest. Enjoy.
I was front row for all three of these! This however was even better (nirvana was fucking amazing) but this was the first small band to bring the crowd to capacity at Reading and just look at them and compare it to a crowd today
Tickets bought, hotel booked, resolve extra packed! Bring on Wolverhampton! It's goin be an amazing night and a right good blast from the past :) Hangovers all round?
back in the day neds were about to hit the bigtime and then nirvana came along and knocked them off their high horse which is a shame in way cuz neds were/are a fantastic group
yes i am going to Wolverhampton, i have been waiting for Neds to play in the North for far too long so i'm making the journey down, i've not seen them live since 1993 and can't wait
i gotta no words, two bass guitars, one nice voice, one kick lead guitar, quick and fun drum, nice lyrics, It´s pretty nice and I ear that they´re coming back!
Yeahh keep them coming!! I've never seen them live, and until now I just had seen a very few recordings of their live performances, you made my day with this video!! Thanks
sat down for a drink....in ya fathers favourite chair.

@mroyan but back in small town 1998, the kids who didn't like me called me grebo, and now days those kids would call us emo.
I guess you only really know who you are so we can't waste time over labels, punk rock till death!
