This theme played on one of the most touching scenes in the anime IMO. The man that was ashamed with his face was alone for most of his life cast away like a beast that dwells in a cave. When his face was revealed to Fuu she wasn't like the rest, she didn't fear him or become disgusted with what she saw, she saw his pain. That one confrontation changed him. He had something to live for, for once he was accepted, he felt like his life had meaning. He didn't feel alone anymore. Its sad dat he died
