  • Remember back then they still were hiding their faces form cameras. So thats most likely why you cant see them good

  • These rehearsals were shot on a national guard base in Reading Massachusetts 1976.

  • well this is still a vintage vid of the biggest best band in the world KISS!

i don't know how the fuck you guys get this stuff, but it is good.

always glad to see new vintage KISS stuff.

  • The audio IS live. If nothing else, you can tell at the end, being they just gradually stop playing and goof around. There's also a couple of small mistakes, such as the second chorus when they end it a bit early, and you can hear Peter adjust to it.

  • The audio is def not live.

  • None of the speculation matters. If you like their show, go. If not, don't. I've seen them twice, both post-make-up, pre-reunion, shows, and they were alright, but no better than some other bands.

  • BACK IN THE 80'S WHEN THIS FIRST SURFACED ON VHS, IT WAS SAID IT WAS ACE'S NEW VIDEO CAMERA, AND HE WAS TRYING IT OUT...

  • @anaheimangels40

that sounds like a bullshit story. first of all, I think Ace could afford a decent color video camera. And, this looks like it was set up to monitor the shot, like directors do for movies. I think this is what they call a "video assist". that's why it didn't need to be good quality. directors just use it as a reference.

  • this is a stage move rehearsal for an upcoming tour,,, read the book all you "experts"

  • does Gene throw the finger salute there towards the end?

  • I love this song. GREAT riff.

  • This is indeed the rehearsal for their Don Kirschner's Rock Concert in 1976.

  • I think It's from the music video Love 'Em and Leave 'Em just another camera.

  • @addy93 when they made videos, gene played w/ his fingers; when he actually played, it was w/ a pick.

  • @therickshow1 oh ok ^^ my bad

  • @therickshow1 Actually ive seen KISS in all there forms about 1000 times or more, and GEne has played live many times without a pick throughout there live sets.

  • @36hcupsizeandgrowing gene never plays live without a pick.only when he mimes..post your one live video where he doesnt use one live..

  • @therickshow1 dont have any, but I have witnessed Gene playing live without a pick at different intervels of concerts, such as after he has the\rown a pick and isnt near a mic stand, and parts of different songs throughout perfomances. So it is what it is.

  • This must be for a TV. appearance because honestly it sounds like the studio recording. I'm not knocking KISS I love them, it was just common practice in those days to do so and still is sometimes. I just don't see Ace solo sounding that perfect live tone and note wise.Even the great Jimmy Page didn't play his solos dead on perfect live.

  • @TheZepmeister I agree it's a recording. The phase on Ace's solo is set exactly like the recording and the harmonics are in the exact same places. It's too precise. It also sounds like Peter is actually playing along with the recording.

  • The first studio album was the best KISS album. The shows today are still built around the songs from that album. I saw KISS open for The New York Dolls in Toronto in October of 1974.

  • to misskissfreak..no,no make up...and yes this was the rehearsal for Don's show

  • i love this song!!!!! this is rock!!!!

  • Sure this wasn't recorded for Paul Lynde's Halloween Special in 1976???

  • It's amazing to watch this after the video. They choreographed everything. Impressive.

  • Are they wearing their high heels?

  • Sweet...wish the video was a little clearer...definately a classic...

  • I believe they were rehearsing for the video shoot. You can see they're using the same stage movements used in the video. They're clearly playing to a backing track, even though you can hear a little bit of live vocals and drums since they are playing along with the track.

  • You are right. After watching it again I can see that now! Good call.

  • This isn't live, it's the studio version. They are faking it.

  • dummy

  • Fuck I love this song! This is a kickass performance...and to think it is a rehearsal. They had great energy. Paul is amazing here. Thanks for posting this man! I think Rock and Roll Over was the last good KISS record. I know I will get shit for saying that, but IMO Love Gun was the beginning of their fucked up "lunch box" period, where they began to soften up way too much.

Bitchin' video...thanks again for posting it.

  • DESTROYER

"was the beginning of their fucked up "lunch box" period, where they began to soften up way too much"

  • destroyer is kiss best album followed by love gun as their second best, dynasty was the beginning of the decline

  • to each his own, but you weren't even born when KISS were relevent. Was "And then she kissed me" a fave of yours on Love Gun?

Love Gun is a great track, but the album was weak.Historically you'll find KISS fans who were either alive, or not wearing diapers at the time, found Destroyer to be a disapointment upon its release.

  • @kissed61 Love gun was a weak album? How do you figure that? It peaked at number 4 and it's not much different sound wise than "rock and roll over" which is a great album. Love gun, shock me,almost human,I stole your love etc. All pretty good KISS songs if you ask me.

  • @KISSFAN1970 I remember almost throwing up when I heard "and then she kissed me"........the songs Love Gun and to a lesser degree "I stole your love" are good tunes,Love Gun specifically is a personal fave, but 2 or 3 " pretty good KISS songs " do not make a great album.KISS peaked with the release of Alive.

  • @kissed61 I've never been a fan of "and then she kissed me" either but in my humble opinion that's really the only low point on the Love Gun album. I could name a few songs off their 1st three albums that are pretty lame too.'' kissin' time'',''let me know'',''mainline'',"all the way",''two timer''..Not real strong songs to say the least. However I do like the 1st three releases and of course Alive! is simply the best album they've ever made.

  • @KISSFAN1970" let me know","all the way" and "two timer" aren't what I'd consider lame, but I'm old school.

  • @kissed61 And then she KISSed me was a great Cover. I have heard the Beachboys version of it and that is the version that KISS was covering. So for KISS to cover the Beachboys that was great.

  • @kissed61 I have seen KISS since 74 and every record up till Sphyco Circus and Sonic Boom have been great. I'm 44 now Although I do like Sonic Boom in concert.

  • @01artist going to KISS concerts since you were 8 years old eh?

I guess it was tough to find babysitters in the 70's ;-)

"And then she kissed me" was a bad choice for KISS career wise, not a bad song.

  • @kissed61 No my uncle worked at the Checkerdome in St Louis mo back then and he would take me to see them. My dad was in the ARMY and was working all of the time. I have seen KISS at least 1 time a year every year that they have done a concert in America. I live in Minneapolis and am seeing them at the Minnesotta state fair in september. I just saw them back in November 2009 and they KISSED ASS.

  • @01artist cool,I took a break from KISS after the Creatures tour, without Ace and Peter it just aint KISS IMO.I caught 4 reunion shows, but again lost interest when Ace and Peter departed.I'm pretty hardcore in my opinion of the present line up being a mere shadow of KISS,not to mention the total lack of respect Paul and Gene show by having Singer and Thayer play make believe Ace and Peter........I've decided life is too short though, and bought 2 tickets for the Sept 10th show in Toronto

  • @kissed61 I love Ace and Peter also but trust me you will be blown away. I din't think I would like Tommy either because I saw him in Cold Gin. The tribute to KISS and he sucked as ACE. But now he is doing a whole lot better. And KISS does a. . . well I can't tell you becuse it will spoil the suprise. Just know that they sound and look better than they have in YEARS, The Reuoin was great and I see Ace and Peter's point but they are not thinking of KISS as a whole.

  • @kissed61 : trust me man. they are no shadow of Kiss. they ARE Kiss right now as much as they have been ever before. don't give ace and peter so much credit. ace was lazy as hell and peter complained about some bad songs being rejected and they both called their lawyers wanting more money just to do 4 songs for the unplugged show. i love ace and peter but the reality is tommy and eric are much better team players and bandmembers than ace and peter ever were. just a sad fact of life.

  • I would agree with you about Love Gun.

  • Are they in makeup and costume???

  • no.

  • could it be that they wer recording this for the Don Kishner Rock Concert??cuz it looks the same i mean look at the begining Gene comes down the stairs the same way as on don kishner and on the other side of the steps paul comes down and ace stays exacl like don kishners

  • It was filmed for Don Krichner's Rock Concert. You get a cookie! :)

  • @KISSANIMALIZE It apperars that way. If it is in concert the stage is way big for what they used.

  • @KISSANIMALIZE This was filmed at the same rehearsal location as the videos for Love Em Leave Em and Hard Luck Woman that were shown on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. Maybe they were rehearsing the moves for the video here?

  • dear sikkkunt,

this video didn't come out in 92. get your facts straight, you stupid moron!

  • FUCKING SICK!

    The Hound Man

  • BaD ASS song.

  • Ben Dempster, you don't know it, but you pwnd sikkkunt and he got real upset about it..

  • no i dont, i thought u just made a simpe mistake is all no need to get all deffenseive over it

  • This was recorded I believe, in Reading Massachusetts, at Camp Curtis Guild Army Base on Haverhill Street. Hard Luck Woman and I want you were also recorded here.

  • ahahauahaha!! i didn't notice him at first, my eyes were on Paul and his jumps

    cool

  • WOW even without platforms it still takes Ace 5 minutes to walk down the stairs

  • ahahauahaha!! i didn't notice him at first, my eyes were on Paul and his jumps

anyway love the video, patience if there's no zoom it's still great <3

  • UM this vid isnt on Xtreme close up but the ACTUAL vid is is thAt what you ment ?

  • It's okay. But the camera is just too far away.

  • peter is actually hitting the drums but the music is on tape. weird to imagine if kiss would've never worn the make-up and costumes and just dressed in street clothes in the 70's!

  • I would have loved to see them perform in suits like on the Dressed to Kill cover. One of my favorite covers

  • This is a lip sync rehearsal for a TV appearance they were going to make. It isn't live music.

  • Andyman is correct. This is the rehearsal for the promo video of "Love 'em, Leave 'em".

    Neat though.

  • Too bad, there's no zoom in! Seeing Kiss play live unmasked in 1976-77 close-up would have been awesome.

  • cool
