The USSR in the beginning was governed by working class councils(or Soviets in Russian) once they were free from the oppression of the emperor and ruling class. However, it wasn't long until a corrupt bureaucracy hijacked what was for a while a very democratic federation of freely associated republics in unity and solidarity.
I must agree, but had Lenin not died so early in his rule: That probably would not have happened. His departure left the USSR vulnerable to internal reformation.

@jakascott21 You have a small point, but it's contradictory, the USSR lasted so long because of it's huge population, the ones that don't want Communism are as quiet as mice when they're surrounded by 270 million who do. Poland and Albania were too small for Communism. China will always be under the system of Communism whilst they have the strongest economy in the world, their society has nothing to complain about.

Read, see and learn from the history. It can be, that communism is the most fair system, but it will never work. It demands that there is an government, Theese people are just humans. @harrer011 I'm no communist either, but I don't hate it, communism has some fundamentally good ideologies about everyone being equal, it's not communism that's to blame, it's people. After WW2, Stalin could've have chosen to make the Soviet Union a "worker's paradise" but instead chose to get into an ideological war with the west. Look at Lenin, he had good intentions, but the power changed him. I believe that if Lenin saw what Stalin did to communism, he would've started a new revolution.
