  • dang, i can't say I know what it feels to find out my truck has a blown egr cooler. I've had my 05 6.0 for a lil more than a year and it's not yet shown any problems. I'm not exactly easy on it though. But, I know for a fact sooner or later the cooler is going to go bad. How much did It cost you to do the studs and delete?

  • @caterpillarV8 Its a bummer when the EGR Cooler goes out. If it happens, you should stop the truck and have it towed somewhere where you can do the work. I got the Sinister EGR Delete Kit for 250.00. I luckily already had the ARP studs in when this happened, so I didnt have any major damage to the engine. The ARP studs are around 470.00. I did them myself, so I cant tell you how much labor it is. They are a pain to install unless you can do a cab-off approach.

  • @miller45103 Thanks for the reply. Well, the cooler and the studs really ain't that much so I won't have a prob buying them. But the lifting the cab is something that's prob going to be a pain in the rear. Can I ask just 2 more question? like did you notice any power loss of any sort? did it happen just out of no where. Bare with me, I'm no exactly an expert at diesels.

  • @caterpillarV8 I did not notice much power loss before the cooler blew. But afterwords, with theup-pipe that came with the kit, I got a power gain. Also gained about 3 mpg. Your second question. I did notice that the exhaust would randomly puff out a little white on hard accelerations, so that gave me a clue it was getting ready to fail. I happened to be out in West Virginia leaving Ohio(Wheeling)at the time of complete failure, so Im sure the "mountain climbing" had alot to do with it. ^ temps

  • get egr delete and arp head studds

  • @84416fones Sorry for the late response, but I already installed the ARP studs prior to the cooler failure, and replaced blown cooler with the Sinister EGR Delete kit. Thanks for the recommendation though!
