I definitely would not recomment snipping the string like that. Loosen the string completely, then snip it if you insist. The rest seems ok. One string at a time, don't take them all off at once. Slack one string at a time as well. Leave the guitar under tension as much as possible.

i want change my strings on my Start, now i have 0.9 fender strings, a lot of people say that the ernie ball are the best. i want play hard rock, what kind of string i need? the 0.9 or the 0.10 or the 0.11 ?

@Burnroses ernie balls are awesome. from my experience, top two are ernie ball and d'addario.

The thing with d'addario, is that at first, it takes a while for the string to be stretched, so they go out of tune REALLY fast first time you put the strings on the guitar, but after like 3 times re tuning, they are fine. But d'addario lasts really long, but you should go with ernie ball in my opinion.
