  • thats dope

  • Good to jam with you!

  • Just Awesome! Fantastic sound!

  • then why are you using for overheads

  • They were left set-up from another recording I was doing, I needed to close mic each cymbal, not ideal mic choice though for general overhead.

  • Are 58 condenser mics, as I was always told to use them for overheads. Sorry just learning all the mixing stuff

  • No, shure 58s are dynamic mics, for live gigs, designed for vocals.

  • hey Dean, that snare sounds really good in the mix. I can feel the attack coming through the speakers really powerfully. I like your new overhead situation. It definitely works for the rock sound.

  • Hi Bill,

A lot of the snare sound you're hearing is largely a heavily compressed bottom skin sound+some room in there aswell.Cheers mate.

  • Hi Dean,

    Nice to see a newey.

    Playing around with your overheads?

    Are they 58's?

  • Hi Mike,

Yeah, 58s, everything is still close miked from doin some rock stuff. Less phase issues, and duller sounding mics can sound good on cymbals+greater control.
