I think we are all fascinated by Sylvia, but no one thinks she is really bad, my video proves it! She is just easy to make fun of because of her smoking addiction and her raspy ENGINE/MUFFLER sound associated with it!
I remember a time when psychics advertised on late-night TV ads and they had to put the disclaimer "For Entertainment Purposes Only" at the bottom of the telephone number. They charged about $3.99 per minute for about 30 minutes but all the ads had the same disclaimer. You don't see many psychics advertising on television anymore.

That has happened beofre, when you have a room full of many people and the medium picks up a readin from another person rather than the person(s) that is asking for the reading.

Pathetic conwoman. Randi's frustration is completely reasonable. The fact that proving psychic ability via the million dollar prize would bring worldwide fame, acclaim, riches and a new science born would far outweight a measly one million dollars. Altea's excuses don't forgive the fact she doesn't want to be tested.
All James Randi is asking for is proof of these powers. For someone, in a controlled environment, to show these abilities... and THEY get to choose the test! How easy is that? But every time they are pressed to take the challenge it's always obfuscation and artful dodging to get out of it, try to make Randi look like a liar, or whatever shady attempt to circle the point.
In other words, the high-probability lie she told this woman was basically a prescription for this poor woman to not trust ANY person around her: mistrust ANYONE who might be able to give her support. All of this, of course, based on less than nothing: a quack rooting around for some plausible sounding bs to say.
