  • Awesome movie! I really liked how creative U got with the toys!

  • fuck you jeff bridges

  • Excellent!! Priceless! Better than the Cookie-cutter GGI version!

  • 4:59 kong sounds like a tie fighter on star wars

  • This really is wonderful. If i was Roger Corman I would build a "Super 8" knockoff around this.

  • Great job! Pure genius...

I was 12 yrs old in '78 so the hair and clothes takes me way back. Hahahaha...

  • This is the best amateur action King Kong movie I've seen so far!

  • Better then the real 70's King Kong, ha ha ha ha!

  • I liked it better than Peter Jackson's remake. Nicely done!

  • that was awesome!

  • Look at 2:30. It's funny!

  • Dino eats guy shot style was taken from Warlords of Atlantis 1978. The tiger spiked taken from Sinbad and the Eye of the tiger 1977. So this must be late 70's. Bloody good for then with no budget..

  • thats pretty sweet!

  • Wicked animation!!!!

  • lol i laughed very much at 4:58 AWSOME video

  • great video

  • lolz

  • i dont remember a sabertooth tiger :D but i liked it great!

  • awesome is what i have to say

  • Very entertaining.

  • Love it! I had those models back then too, not easy to animate I bet!

  • Great job!

  • GENIUS.

  • Actually, quite well done!

    Sure caught me by surprise!

  • Was that filmed on a Super 8 camera

  • Great job!

  • There's some creative people behind this.

  • EPIC!!!!

  • Pleeeeese, put some swearing in ; )))

  • Can't stupid people read captions? It says right on the caption that the sound was added 25 years later.

  • I wish the sound could've been dubbed with all the children's voices now all grown up. You all had an awesome childhood.

  • Holy smokes, that was great! I wish there was that much creativity out there today.

  • Wow, lots of fun...awesome job...liked that better than the terrible peter Jackson re-make...and yes, im serious.

  • Soundtrack is by John Barry from the 1976 version of Kong.

  • Awesome. But I'd have to say "fake", too, regarding the soundtrack, as Burlearth points out, it seems unreal for a 70's garage production. Thought the image side of it could be real, but with an updated soundtrack. And was that a TIE fighter scream when Kong fell to his death?

  • @jussing Funny you should say that about the sound effect, when I heard it I thought it was an old Irwin Allen effect. Check out "The Menfish" episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and it gets used a lot.

But then it could be the Star Wars sound effect too!

  • I laughed when the kid got eaten by the T-Rex.

  • "He´s dead! Come on, kill it!"

    This is great..

  • This is not genuine, for a start there's no way they could have produced a soundtrack like that with 70's super 8 equipment plus there is a lack of splice jumps or joins in the film at each shot change to show that it has really been "cut" on film. The footage may have been shot in the 70's on super 8 or probably more likely recently but the editing and sound has definitely been crafted on more modern equipment proved by the end credits which have a smooth/ clean scratch free digital quality.

  • Could this be part of the viral marketing for the Abrams/Spielberg SUPER 8 movie? Obviously it´s a fake.

  • This is awesome. Reminds me of making super 8's back in the day.

  • I really enjoyed that! thanks

  • 1:30 WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR FACE?!

  • its got better editing, continuity and camera shots than most UT graduates films.

  • Better than what we used to make in the 70s!...Loved the screams of men getting attacked by the monsters! LOL!

  • Loved the dubbed voices ! LOL

  • GENIUS!!

  • EdWoodfilms presents...

  • Bravo!

  • i came "this" close to making this same movie when i grew up in fairfield, CT. hats off to you guys for actually following through.

  • How did you do the "falling" shot at the end with the spinning and shrinking photo of Kong? I could do that easily now digitally, but to do it optically or in-camera, I don't know.

  • @cinepegger I had the same question. This was definitely not made in 1978. At least not by children...

  • @EinerVonDenen a lie is a lie

  • I love this, it's made me so jealous! Wish I'd been able to do that at their age. And fond memories of the Aurora Allosaurus that Kong wrestles.

  • This is a hell of alot better than the Dino De Laurentis 1976 version!

  • That's actually much more entertaining than the Peter Jackson remake.

  • What are you in these days? An ''Oscar winning filmaker''? If you are, then tell to me that what movies have you done!!! :D

  • this video is so bad it's AWESOME and EPIC!!!

  • Yep, that's a.............that's about right.

  • I absolutely love this! Great 8mm film making and homage to my favorite movie KING KONG

  • really great! a must-see movie!

  • I can't get over how great this is!!

  • Fantastic stuff! And hey, I had that same T-Rex as a kid, and also put mine in a Super 8 movie! Its teeth and eyes glowed in the dark, right?

  • What an awesome movie - you included everything! Amazing. I love your dubbing, too.

  • Now that's a remake. ;)

  • That is a great little film. As a kid back in the 1970s I would have loved to have done stuff like this. Thanks for putting this up!!

  • Hey capecodshorts,

Very cool stuff. I had all of those models myself. Excelent job on the filming and editing. Thanks for sharing,

    Tim

  • WONDERFUL!!! I used to make these 'epics' too back in the day...thanks for sharing yours!
