I estimate Bleeder is Nicolas Winding Refn's best film, even more shocking than Pusher. The opening with five characters with different type of music is brilliant, but the greatest thing is the way it shows Leo's emotional failure and self-hatred: pathetic life circumstances (poor house, bad job, pregnant girlfriend) and the very closely sensed violence, the shooting at the discotheque. When he cries out knowing he killed Louise's baby, is viscreal and unforgettable.
@CircleofShit I read a few months ago that 1. Refn is clearly judged by the Danish Films Directors Committee because of his dangerous methods 2. Kim Bodnia who plays Leo actually checked into an asylum to get rid of his character. Bleeder is NOT for everyone.

A Danish guy wrote it, so he could know Refn's activities. I don't know what were NWR's exact methods, but I think they were close to the Method, the Recalling. I read it on a Hungarian Film Festival site (titanicfilmfest.hu) where Pusher 3 was released in 2006.

The camera used was an Aaton Super 16mm. Bleeder and all 3 Pusher films were shot on the same camera. I know because I worked on the set of bleeder and Pusher 2 and 3. Hope this helps.
