When she's with other family members and friends she'll switch to a more comfortable and for her a natural way of speaking. How is that in any way dishonest? Would you speak in the same manner to your parents as you would your friends?

@ryj62 she is FROM America but spent long times of her childhood in British Virgin Islands. If you know/meet anyone from the Islands who also spent parts of their formative years in the states, you will know that they can SPEAK in plain English but turn their accent on when they are with friends/family or when they're emotional *happy/sad*
Pay attention. Her accent isn't fake. You must be from somewhere in the US that doesn't know what diversity is and is around the same kind of person.
