  • SPEED will air a 30-minute highlight show from “World’s Fastest Half-Mile Speed Trials” on April 2 at 4:30 p.m. ET, following its live broadcast of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

  • I can only imagine what it was like to be there that night. I know that the camera doesnt really do it justice!! That looked like fun!!!

  • I have much respect for asphalt winged sprint drivers, I'll stick with dirt and mods

  • Looking for his Bristol run from the March 18-20 weekend.

  • @racefan32

    Sorry, I wasn't there.

I would like to see it too.

  • While that is certainly impressive as I've been to many open wheel shows there in the past but don't let that average speed fool you..........while this track is suppose to be a half mile it is that if measured from the outside wall........the actual racing groove is about 4/10's which would make the mph conversion much slower than what they say over the PA.............

  • @jacopman

It's still faster than the ISMA SuperModifieds, and still impressive. Very few cars that night were able to run that track full throttle. If I recall correctly, Winchester has a speed trap before turn one, and this series of cars have seen nearly 170mph at that trap.

  • @Pyro60000 I love the sprints dont get me wrong but the supers are limited on the setup both msa and isma. if they could run a soft compound tire like the sprints they would be stupid fast for one or two laps as well. plus they have to keep distance in mind for the setup since they have to run the same tire they qualified on for the feature.

  • @lotanota

Same, same, and same. At least the ISMA cars run the same tire, the AVSS has to run the qualification tire in the feature also. The sprints are not allowed air shocks on the wing. (I've seen this debate go down before, lol. The rules are fairly similar.)

  • @Pyro60000 im j quoting rules that i know. unfortunatly there a few years old now. I know one thing for a fact, lets see that sprint run a feature at those speeds. a super could do it all night long. haha

  • @lotanota

    Been there done that. XD

The ISMA Supers and AVSS were at Berlin together a few years ago and the sprints ran a faster final lap than the Supers did. (That happened to be the fastest lap of the race IIRC)

I'll be at the AVSS/MSA Toledo show again this year, I'll note the last few lap times if the board keeps up.

  • @Pyro60000 the supers run 50 laps or more. the sprints run max 30. ill be there too. its a great show. ive ben going since the conception of the race. too bad isma dont join in the fun anymore. as far as the record goes, charlie shultz might have somethin to say about it this year^_^

  • You did a GREAT JOB. WATCH this clip over and over. Thank's Leon

  • Hauling the mail...CONGRATS!!!!!

  • thats blonde for u one hell of a driver my dad uncle use too do auto value in like 98 to 2000 he was the red 27 sprint car

  • Man!! That's called "Gettin' 'er done!!"

  • god i just cant get enough of this video. Its like im there again. I love the sound of horse power.

  • guys Ive been coming to this event since it started. each year never ceases to amaze me. Every year they just go faster and faster trading records between each other. Topgun, if you want goose bumps and wow factor toledo is a must see. The video is self explanitory. FUCKING FAST!!!! and FUCKING BIG BALLS!!!! chris beat it with a 12.8 then blonde beat it again with this 12.7. did anybody get perleys lap?

  • do they even let off the gas here? i think these and supers are faster then IRL now

  • Nope, Jason didn't lift. 830hp wide open in the corners here. Car might even have been faster if it hadn't been so tight.

As far as IRL, they don't have nearly the horsepower, and they don't run any tracks nearly this short. It would be interesting to see, but I'd bet the Sprints are faster than IRL.

  • i heard chris perley almost had track record that day in the supers im suprised the sprint cars had a faster lap

  • @TOPGUNCANADA00 they are. supers would beat a indy car any day. just ask darell waltrip. supers will go up to 265 if u had them on a big super speedway and gave them more downforce so they dont flip

  • @cam21fr whats darell waltrip know? he drives a taxi cab. haha supers and sprints are a purpose built machine. Made to go left and do it fast. Its already proven that supers will beat irl on a mile or less. beyond that their going past their limits. sure u could set em up to go faster and handle better at those speeds but they wouldnt hardly be called a super now would they? hmmm, center up the chassis, give them tires of equal size, and steamline the downforce. vioalla, an indy car!

  • 141.2 mph wow is that average speed?

  • Yes that's average speed. They were clocked once at either Winchester or IRP (Can't remember which) doing 160mph into turn one.

  • @Pyro60000 i was @ Winchester 2 years ago, and cameron Dodson broke the record on 13.56 sec. Can't remember what the speed was thow.

    leon.

  • Damn, that thing was hooked up thanks to the wing!!!

  • awesome video
