Another thing is that joe should not be surprised that Geoff was rushing him. He is producing the show, and he is quite busy watching/organizing it. I used to work in a B2B sales job, and most of the time the business owners were d-bags and were asking me to hurry up every minute because they were busy. I expected this and prepared for it.
I mean common half of the presenters don't seem enthused to be there. I mean one of the guys guy's that shows up on VGA's that you can tell is a gamer is jack Black. I mean Why were they advertising Blue Mountain State on the VGA's it is a show about football jocks.

I mean I used to like watching Geoff on Electric Playground back in the day when G4TV had more game shows. Now it is just XPlay, and attack of the show (which is not really that much of a game show). I was surprised to see that geoff produced the craptastic VGA's. And it is now too bust trying to make gaming loock "cool" than concentrating on gaming in general.
I think this whole thing was unnecessary. We know it sucks and we mostly don't care. Is the gaming industry something that should be taken seriously? Yeah. Is it something most gamers are actually willing to? Hell no.
If you have another up front interview with someone like this, try making him give you the information by answering your questions. For example, he attempted to grill you about the pc category thing. Your first question should be "Are there PC game categories this year?" instead of assuming there aren't any.

To be honest, I think Joe could have composed himself a little better but I understand it must be difficult to not get annoyed with someone who is being rude by looking away when he knows he is being asked questions. I think the loud environment was a huge factor that made the interview more chaotic. A one on one interview would have been better in a quiet room with some tea :D and I'm sure Joe wouldn't have been as nervous or intimidated. Joe has good points too but I think nerves didn't help.
As much as I love the Angry Joe show, Joe came of looking TOTALLY unprepared. But I also see Joes points. This guys acted like a asshole. The least he could have done was to give Joe 2 minutes of full focus, instead off looking at all the celeberties. Joe have alot of good points. The VGA needs to improve. That was damn painful to watch. I've been watching Keighley since waay back when Reviews on the Run was still kicking around G4. The guy has serious journalist chops, has been in the industry for many many years (I think he would be approaching decades now), is one of the few big voices that is still pretty in tune with normal gamers and actually cares about the median, and is generally a pretty nice guy. And you go in there and try to start shit? After he GAVE YOU an invite?
I think you pretty much had that little journalistic ass-kicking coming, and you're lucky he didn't go any further once you got all uppity around 8:00.

I completely agree with Joe in this interview, Geoff most of the time was looking away and not taking Joe seriously. I bet if Joe had his own show, Geoff would've taken him seriously, but like always, no matter what part of the industry you are in, whether it is movies, games or music, they don't care about your opinion unless you have Burger King or Pepsi backing you. They don't care about honesty, just sponsors.

Well the reason the interview sucked is because Joe was pressed on time. He wanted to give him a real major question that appeals to the gamer audience and possibly a question that appeals to him as well. Then, he shuts him down only after saying Final Fantasy Online. Think if Joe didnt use FFO for an example. He might have easily not had an answer for him or just defaulted to check the website. And FUCK him for encouraging his own comment up stage to avoid serious confrontation.

Compare Joe's interview with the Capcom rep about UMVC3 to Geoff's interview with Reggie Fils-Aime about the Wii-U. @NoctisFalling Keep in mind 2 things: 1) Geoff is running the show, and it was never meant to be a big sit down interview. It was basically going to be a quick thing, cover the vgas, and Geoff was giving Joe a huge chance here to really make a big break in gaming journalism (srsly, if Joe kept his cool and got in good with geoff, he wouldn't have to sneak into showings at E3). 2) Joe starts off "I got a bone to pick with you". Joe showed no respect, why would Geoff take him legit?

2010 was ok, but 2011 was horrible. Not only did they present 4 awards and have the guys accept them but they also spent way too much time on unfunny skits. Felicia Day I love you but I don't want to watch you play fruit ninja for 5 mins and have them present all the awards in under 15 seconds. Also the host was horrible. NPH wasn't perfect but he still was able to make what he had work. Whoever the host (I honestly had no idea who that was) just flat out sucked.

Joe and this was one of his first interviews, he was pretty fricken professional. and he isn't just a wannabe because he's actually doing something. the wannabe's are the ones sitting at home day dreaming. Joe might not represent all gamers but he does represent tens of thousands and in America even the smallest minority is still respected. To be honest, I think Joe could have composed himself a little better but I understand it must be difficult to not get annoyed with someone who is being rude by looking away when he knows he is being asked questions. I think the loud environment was a huge factor that made the interview more chaotic. A one on one interview would have been better in a quiet room with some tea :D and I'm sure Joe wouldn't have been as nervous or intimidated. Joe has good points too but I think nerves didn't help.

Well the reason the interview sucked is because Joe was pressed on time. He wanted to give him a real major question that appeals to the gamer audience and possibly a question that appeals to him as well. Then, he shuts him down only after saying Final Fantasy Online. @jeffkingstonify No, he's actually just trying to think of an example off the top of his head when being rushed...never said he WANTED it nominated...he was asked "What MMOs came out this year?"...Just because Jeff has been with G4 or whatever for a while doesnt mean he cares about "gamers"...if anyone does its Jeff...an ACTUAL GAMER. Not one who focuses on advertising as much as possible.

@mhaze210 He's naming it in the context of an awards show. Even then, he can only name one MMO that came out that year, and it was a colossal stinker. Geoff has done more for gaming than Joe ever will. Sure, he's running the vgas (which are pretty dumb, but then again, so is gaming), but the dude knows how to interview tough without sounding like an annoying bully. Joe can't do that, and it's the reason why no one big is going to let him interview them.

@mhaze210 (read this second, I like to talk lol and I don't know how youtube will show this comment) And before you call me out on that last statement. Compare Joe's interview with the Capcom rep about UMVC3 to Geoff's interview with Reggie Fils-Aime about the Wii-U. Geoff manages to really press Reggie in the interview and gets him to sweat without being disrespectful or rude. Joe doesn't know how to do that, and it's just telling in everything he does.

@NoctisFalling Keep in mind 2 things: 1) Geoff is running the show, and it was never meant to be a big sit down interview. It was basically going to be a quick thing, cover the vgas, and Geoff was giving Joe a huge chance here to really make a big break in gaming journalism (srsly, if Joe kept his cool and got in good with geoff, he wouldn't have to sneak into showings at E3). 2) Joe starts off "I got a bone to pick with you". Joe showed no respect, why would Geoff take him legit?

Sigh. Geoff, normally I love you but I gotta say, you did disappoint me right here. And Joe, you did what you could. But this is big TV, and sadly, they just want ad revenue and ratings, which they have gotten a lot of in the past few years. They just look at the the VGA's and say, "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

First off, Angry Joe is way more entertaining then Spike itself... People pay Spike for being such a minor influence on the gaming community. Second off, it was painful seeing Joe like this he didn't do to well. BUT How the hell can anyone say he wasn't prepared out of his own will... All I needed to see was the interview.
- You were unprepared, as Geoff so enthusiastically pointed out because...
- You were unprofessional basically being accusatory toward his mindset about gaming BECAUSE you were unprepared.
- Final Fantasy XIV was so bad that exects at SE apologized about it. So no, that should not have been represented at an awards show.

2010 was ok, but 2011 was horrible. Not only did they present 4 awards and have the guys accept them but they also spent way too much time on unfunny skits. Felicia Day I love you but I don't want to watch you play fruit ninja for 5 mins and have them present all the awards in under 15 seconds. Also the host was horrible. NPH wasn't perfect but he still was able to make what he had work. Whoever the host (I honestly had no idea who that was) just flat out sucked.

Joe was a little in the wrong here, but the way Geoff did the interview was just a complete joke. If Angry Joe means nothing to you, fine. Just don't invite him for an interview. If you're going to invite him for the interview, at least have the decency to look at him, and not get distracted by random non gaming celebrities. He rushed him and acted like a complete jerk. He probably was unprofessional at the time because he'd been waiting for so long for him and only got two minutes to say his questions. He was representing "The Superior Representative of Gamers" because most of the questions came from his viewers the gamers. Geoff seemed wasting more of HIS time than himself. These questions Joe asked him were valid points, not unprepared. Geoff was a dick to Joe, and everyone else knew it.

@GoopLoopScoop I give Geoff was a dick, but I can't blame him. Joe presented his ideas with poor presentation. To me, Joe seemed to take questions from Gamers but only go as far as that. He didn't do any research to support his claims, and when his claims where questioned Joe only gave a fake smile and waste time struggling with something he should've done before he set flight. He also didn't just have 2 minutes, he had another shot after the show and still did the same thing.

Considering his name is ANGRY
Joe and this was one of his first interviews, he was pretty fricken professional. and he isn't just a wannabe because he's actually doing something. the wannabe's are the ones sitting at home day dreaming. Joe might not represent all gamers but he does represent tens of thousands and in America even the smallest minority is still respected. I will agree though that he did whine a lot to get another interview for the same Q's.

Yup you would have been our hero and got all of the questions you needed answered in two minutes. Geoff would have saw you as an important person right on the spot and given you all the attention.
