When Mary and Laura came home, they had to explain why they were dirty and possibly why their dresses were ripped, and Mary finally told the truth what Bubba did. And you know how kids are telling things, so I think SOME of the townspeople knew too, just didn't say anything. Especially when they were in church and Rev. Alden said; "Some of you have suffered some abuse." So yeah, they knew.

Why do you say he was unbiblical? This scene was probably his best ever.  It is VERY biblical to kick people from the church community when they do not alter their ways after being addressed by one or more of the congregation, which these brothers had been. The results (being kicked out) were exactly what the apostle Paul would have approved of. The simple fact is, Church ministers NOW don't know when to put their foot down and do what Reverend Allen did.

if you knew the word of God you would also know these tv show preachers were used to turn people away from the truth not to it.

A true man of God would have preached salvation and allowed the Holy Spirit to work. Just because someone stands in a pulpit doesnt mean he is a minister of God. The bible says Satan has his own ministers. And these antichristian tv shows do nothing but turn people away from the truth.
